Day 9: Think of any word, search it on google images, and write 250 words about the first thing that comes up.

Word used: Romance. As in I tried my hardest to get something sweet and nice to write about.

Romance

The best thing about Romance, I think, is how little about it everyone seems to know. We've all seen the chick flicks and silly movies about it- where the man woo's the woman with flowers and surprises and they fall in love and live happily ever after.

But what always confuses me about society is why men (and women) think that these things are simple movie tropes. Yes, it is extremely unlikely that you will ever meet someone in the airport one random flight and then fall for him. Yes it is extremely unlikely that you will move next door to a super attractive, sweet guy who is very helpful and kind and sweet. This is real life- things like this can actually happen, but it's very VERY rare.

No, what confuses me is why men seem to think that just because this isn't a romance movie, they can't do romance. I think that's ridiculous. Romance itself doesn't have to be elaborate or showy the way it happens in books or movies. Just because you don't write her name in the sky with an airplane doesn't mean you aren't romantic.

You would be surprised, but girls are quite down to Earth. Don't get me wrong- all of the stereotypes of us longing for some guy to sweep us off our feet is true. But sometimes the best thing is when you do something sweet and simple.

Visit her at work! Bring her flowers every so often. If you make the food in the house, leave a little note saying 'I love you' or 'You're beautiful'. Give her chocolates (that will work every time. And honestly I recommend oreos because everyone loves those). If you are out, give her your coat because that shows you care.

Just be sweet and drop little sweet things around. I can tell you that if I'm having a bad day at work, and then I go to eat my lunch and I see a little note saying 'Miss You' or 'Have a good day' or something, I would die. That would lift up my mood like you wouldn't believe. It's such a sweet, seemingly insignificant thing to do but it works in ways that you wouldn't believe. Plus it's pretty effortless to drop a quick 'you look beautiful' when you see her in the morning.

If you can't even manage that, then try some of the things in the movies. I'm talking the works- take her on a surprise date for no reason. Have a picnic in the park, take her to the beach. And yes, rainy day kisses usually are super sloppy and uncomfortable- so kiss under an umbrella instead. As you can see, it still looks super romantic!

So seriously guys, get your head out of your stupid slump and put some effort into your relationships. You wouldn't believe where a little bit of romance can get you- and how easy it is to do that little thing!
