I've been writing these all day! I might actually hit the 20s! These are more Critical Role characters. I've been wanting to write for that show, so its popping up here like crazy!

Day 17: A character is sitting alone with an animal. The character says something to the animal, and the animal's reaction causes the character to make a big decision.
Death and Life
Vex'ahlia collapsed under the tree, sitting on the wet snow and pulling her legs to her chest. As she curled up, tears began to fall from her eyes. A soft moan of confusion, worry, and exhaustion left her mouth.
A large, wet tongue began licking her face, eliciting a small hopeless burst of laughter from her. Vex looked up into the concerned face of her best friend and companion, Trinket the bear. He licked her fiercely once more before sitting by her side. He rested his head on her shoulder.
"I died," she whispered to him. "I actually died. I almost left you and Vax alone here." She let out a choked sob as Trinket whimpered and shoved his head under her arm.
"I don't know what to do, Trinket. I'm so cold." As she said that, he moved towards her, practically engulfing her in his large form. She was almost crushed by his weight, but as he intended, his thick fur was making her warm.
"Th-thank you, Trinket," she giggled. "I didn't mean it literally." She wrapped her arms around his body best as she could, thanking the gods that he didn't have his armor on. They cuddled for a while before Vex let out a little sigh.
"Trinket, can you promise to look after Vax for me? In case... just in case I ever leave?" The silence of the woods was cut through by a low growl. Trinket turned his head and nudged her incessantly with his nose.
"I'm sorry, Trinket, but I'm not invincible. I don't ever want to leave you and I wish that I never have to, but there is a very real possibility that it might happen, and I need you to look after each other! Please."
He huffed and did his best to crush her under a hug. Vex felt the breath leave her body until Trinket lifted himself off of her a few moments later.
"You know he needs you to prevent his stupid self inflicted emotional misery." They sat in another thoughtful silence, Trinket sniffing her up and down once more. Vex's thoughts turned to a serious topic that she had pushed to the side after her death. The presence of Kashaw, the cleric who had stolen Keyleth's first kiss, had made her actually support Vax and Keyleth getting together. Who would have thought that she would actually end up supporting that?
"Hey Trinket, darling, how would you feel about helping me get Vax and Keyleth together? I think they are actually good for each other. Maybe they will actually learn how to function like normal beings." He let out a little roar or agreement, and she felt herself warming up to the sound.
"You're the best, darling." Another roar, and this time, he nudged her with his cold nose until she was shrieking with laughter, light for the first time in days.
