CHAPTER EIGHT, father-daughter moment and intimate sketch
April 14, 1912
Mckenna and Jack parted ways eventually and she went back to the cabin, dreading seeing her mother. However, her father was there instead, and he was alone.
"Mckenna, sweetie, can we talk?" Her father asked, giving her a hopeful smile.
"Yeah, dad." She replies, her expression softening. "Of course."
Her father gestures to a nearby table, and they sit down. "Your mother isn't here. She went out for a walk. But I want to apologize for her earlier behavior. She's just worried about you. We both are. You're our daughter, and we want the best for you. We're sorry if we're a bit...Controlling."
"A bit?" Mckenna raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a slight smirk.
"Okay, a lot." Her father laughs. "But it's only because we love you and want you to be happy. Same for David. We just want what's best for you." He reaches across the table and takes her hand in his. "I'm sorry if it feels like we're suffocating you, Mckenna. That's never our intention. I promise. We both love you, and we only want the best for you. You're our baby girl, and we'll always look out for you. I'm sorry if it doesn't feel like that."
Her face softens, her eyes shining with emotion. "It's okay, dad. I understand. And I'm sorry for acting so rashly and running out like that. I shouldn't have. I just got so frustrated, and I needed to get out. I'm sorry. But thank you for understanding."
Her father smiles and pulls her into a tight hug. "Of course, sweetie. It's alright. I understand. We both do. Just remember, no matter what happens, we love you. And we'll always be here for you."
Mckenna hugs her father back, her eyes welling up with tears. "Thank you, dad. I love you too." She pulls back and wipes her eyes. "So, where is David?"
"Oh, he went out to find Rose. They've been spending a lot of time together, haven't they?" Her father asked, smiling fondly.
"They have." Mckenna replies, a soft smile on her lips. "I think he really likes her. And she seems to like him too. I'm glad. She could use a good guy like him in her life."
"You think so?" Her father looks at her. "What about her fiancé?" He pointed out, curious.
"Oh, him? He's a jerk. I can't stand him." Mckenna rolls her eyes, wrinkling her nose. "He's a complete pig. She's not uncomfortable around him and I can tell he bothers her. David's not like that. He's a gentleman."
Her father nods. "Well, I hope it works out for them."
"Me too." Mckenna smiles, her heart warmed by the thought of her brother and her friend finding happiness together. "Me too."
The two spent the rest of the afternoon catching up and talking, enjoying each other's company. It had been a while since they had a chance to spend time together, and they were both grateful for the opportunity. It was a rare moment of peace and tranquility in a hectic life.
Later that evening, the family had dinner together, and things seemed to have calmed down. After dinner, Eleanor apologized to her daughter for her earlier behavior, adding that she would try to be more understanding in the future. Eleanor had even promised to let her daughter have some independence, allowing her to make some decisions on her own. Same went for her son. It was a small step, but it was a start.
Mckenna now was on the deck, currently sketching some scenery. It was peaceful and quiet. A nice change of pace from the hectic lifestyle she had been leading lately. She felt free, like she could finally breathe. Especially after having that talk with her parents. She knew it wasn't much, but it was a step in the right direction. A step towards a new beginning.
She smiled as she looked up at the sky. A beautiful sunset was painting the sky with a mix of reds, oranges, and purples. It was a breathtaking sight. She could watch it for hours and never grow tired of it. It was like a canvas, a masterpiece created by nature. She could almost feel the warmth of the setting sun on her skin, and she couldn't help but admire its beauty.
She was so caught up in the moment that she didn't notice Jack approach her. She jumps, startled when someone suddenly sat by her. But she relaxed after realizing she knew who sat by her. "Hey, princess." He murmurs in her ear, his voice low and husky. "Whatcha drawing?" He asked curiously.
"Nothing, really. Just sketching." Mckenna replies, her cheeks flushing a light shade of pink. Jack wraps his arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to him. She leans into his warm embrace, feeling safe and secure. "You scared me."
"Sorry, princess. I didn't mean to." He murmurs, leaning over to kiss her temple. "So, how was your day?"
"It was good. I had a nice talk with my parents." She admits. "We're good now. They agreed to try."
Jack smiles warmly, his eyes twinkling with genuine happiness for Mckenna. "It sounds like a step in the right direction. I'm really glad to hear that things are starting to get better between you and your parents."
Mckenna nods, her eyes softening as she looks up at him. "Yeah, me too. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. And spending time with you today really helped."
Jack chuckles softly, his fingers gently brushing against hers. "I'm glad I could be here for you. You deserve to be happy and free, and I'm here to support you every step of the way."
She turns and looks at him, her heart racing. His gaze is intense and full of emotion, and she feels a rush of warmth and affection. "Thank you, Jack. It means so much to me. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Jack smiles, his eyes never leaving hers. "You'll never have to find out. I'm always going to be here for you. Through all the ups and downs." His hand moves to the back of her neck, caressing it softly. "I love you, Mckenna."
Mckenna's heart flutters at his words, her eyes shining with happiness. "I love you too, Jackie."
He smiles and pulls her into a sweet, tender kiss. His lips move slowly against hers, as if savoring the moment. She melts into his arms, her body responding to his touch. The kiss is filled with love and passion, and she can feel her heart bursting with emotion. It was a feeling she had never experienced before, and it was unlike anything she had ever felt.
"I love you so much, princess." He murmurs as they pull apart, his breath hot against her lips. "You are everything to me."
"Jack..." Mckenna breathes, her heart overflowing with joy and love. "You are everything to me too."
She closes the distance between them again, kissing him deeply. She can't get enough of him, and she wants to stay like this forever. She feels safe and loved, and it's a feeling she never wants to let go of.
"So, um, Jackie," She starts, leaning her head on his shoulder after they pulled away. "I was wondering...Could you draw me? Like your French girls."
"Of course, princess." Jack grins. "I would be honored to. I'd love to capture your beauty on paper."
Her face flushes and she smiles shyly. "I also meant, um, exactly like what you drew your French girls. You know...Nude?" She says, a little embarrassed. "It's not too much, is it? You don't have to, but...I'd like to." She admits. "If you don't want to, it's fine-"
He cuts her off with another passionate kiss. She melts into his arms again, her heart racing. When they pull apart, he rests his forehead against hers, his eyes shining with love and desire. "It's not too much. Not at all." He assures her. Blush rises to his cheeks and he clears his throat, obviously flustered. "But, uh, yeah. Sure. I can do that."
Mckenna giggles at his reaction, finding his embarrassment endearing. It was rare to see him embarrassed. He was always so confident and sure of himself. She loved that she was able to catch him off guard like this. "Thanks, Jackie." She smiled, kissing his cheek.
"No problem. Um, where should I draw you?" Jack asked shyly.
"My family's suite. My parents are out and my brother is seeing Rose. So we have it all to ourselves. There's a balcony. It has a good view. I can pose out there." Mckenna suggests. "How does that sound?" She asked, her eyes bright with excitement.
This was a big step for her. She wasn't normally one to put herself out there like this, but with Jack, it was different. She felt safe and comfortable with him, and she wanted to share this moment with him. She knew he would respect her, and she trusted him completely. Plus, she couldn't deny that the thought of being nude in front of him was a bit exciting. She was quite shy and nervous for it, but also curious. She had never posed nude before, and she was looking forward to experiencing it with him. She felt a thrill of anticipation mixed with nervousness at the idea of posing for Jack. The thought of being so vulnerable and exposed, yet in such a trusted and loving environment, made her heart race. Jack's shy but eager response only added to her excitement.
"Sounds perfect." Jack nods, a slight blush still tinting his cheeks. "I'll get my things and meet you there soon."
"Great. See you then." Mckenna smiled warmly, leaning over and giving him another soft kiss.
She headed back to the suite, butterflies dancing in her stomach. She can't believe she's going to be posing nude for Jack. She had to pinch herself to make sure she wasn't dreaming. It all felt too surreal. She surprised herself being that bold and confident. But with Jack, it came so naturally. She trusted him and felt comfortable with him. She knew he would never hurt her or take advantage of her. She felt safe and secure with him.
When she arrived at the suite, she changed into a robe and headed out onto the balcony. She found a comfortable chair and posed, looking out over the horizon. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm glow over the sky. She took a deep breath and tried to relax.
After a few minutes, Jack arrived, carrying his sketchbook and pencils. He paused, his eyes widening as he took in the sight of Mckenna. She was stunning, her beauty amplified by the setting sun. The sun's rays illuminated her, giving her an ethereal glow. Her eyes sparkled like sapphires, and her skin looked like porcelain. She was breathtaking.
"Wow." Jack breathes out, unable to hide his amazement. She glances over at him at seeing his voice, blushing and smiling shyly. "Princess, you look amazing. Just perfect. Thank you for this opportunity. I can't wait to capture your beauty on paper."
Her blush deepens, and she looks away, biting her lower lip. She had never been complimented like this before, and it was a new experience for her. She wasn't used to it, but she was enjoying it. "Thanks, Jack." She murmured shyly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jack notices her nerves and approaches her. He sits down in front of her and takes her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Don't worry, princess. I'll take good care of you. And if you're uncomfortable at any time, just let me know. We don't have to do this, okay?"
Mckenna nods, her eyes meeting his. "I trust you, Jackie. I know you won't hurt me or do anything I'm not comfortable with." She gave him a warm smile. "I want to do this. I'm just a little nervous, that's all."
Jack's face softens and he leans forward, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "Don't be nervous, princess. You have nothing to be nervous about. You're absolutely perfect. You're gorgeous. I'll make sure this is a memorable experience for you." His words reassured her, and she felt some of her nervousness fade away. She knew he would make sure she was comfortable and would stop if she asked him to. That knowledge made her feel safe and secure.
Jack gave her one last warm smile before moving to sit down across from her. As he prepared his tools, she had managed to get bold enough to finally drop the robe and letting it fall to the floor. She was naked in front of Jack for the first time. Jack had to do a double take when he glanced back at her. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped as he took in the sight of her. She was even more beautiful than he had imagined. She was perfect. He couldn't help but stare.
"Jackie, don't stare." She whined, her face flushed and her chest rising and falling.
"Sorry, princess. You're gorgeous. I can't help myself." Jack's cheeks flushes as he tried to compose himself. "I just...I'm in awe of you. You're incredible, Mckenna."
"Just start drawing, Dawson." Mckenna shyly muttered, avoiding eye contact. Her whole body was burning with heat. She had never felt so vulnerable, but also so excited. Her heart was pounding, and her mind was racing. This was a new experience for her, and she was nervous, but she was also intrigued. She wanted to see how it would feel to be captured on paper. To see how her boyfriend would portray her. She felt a sense of anticipation mixed with curiosity. What would he see in her? How would he capture her beauty? Only time would tell.
Jack chuckles, smiling shyly. "Alright, Lewis. Let's begin. Just relax and I'll do my best to capture your beauty. Though, it's going to be a very challenging task." He murmured, glancing at her with a fond look. Mckenna gave a soft giggle, her blush growing. It was a nice distraction from the embarrassment of being completely nude in front of her boyfriend. She did her best to relax and pose, trying to get comfortable. It was a new and unusual experience for her, but she was determined to see it through. She was curious and wanted to know what it was like to be captured on paper. To see how she would appear in Jack's eyes. Only time would tell.
