The monstrous canine that had once been a fox terrier known as Xavier gazed down at the two dogs standing before him and roared. Max and Duke could do nothing other than stand still as their fur was ruffled. Then they continued to stay there for a few seconds longer, staring the giant dog in its red eyes.

"RUN!" Duke howled, the first to speak. Max didn't need to be told twice as he leapt behind a desk just as his old friend slammed his gigantic paw down where he had been standing just moments before. Peering out from his hiding spot, the Jack Russell terrier could see Duke running off to hide before the monster dog could catch him. However, Xavier was on his trail. And due to the titanium bullet, the mutt couldn't teleport.

"Come on Max, think. Remember all that stupid and quite pointless training you had to endure for the past four months," Max murmured to himself, observing his surroundings. Glancing down at his paws, he took a deep breath before getting up and grabbing the desk he had been using for a hiding spot. Whirling around, he flung it at Xavier, hitting him on the back of the head.

Good news, Max had saved Duke from Xavier.

Bad news, Xavier now had a new target.

"Great plan you idiot..." Max grumbled under his breath as he ran for his life. Xavier was hot on his heels, snapping at him with large jaws. Racing up a spiral staircase, Max yelped when his old friend got a hold of it, crushing the steel. Reaching the highest level overlooking the lab area, the terrier glanced up at the ceiling... and jumped...
