Pressing a button that would open the glass casing, Professor Cogsworth cautiously approached it. As the door opened, grayish white smoke billowed out of it. There was so much that one couldn't see anything. Things were already looking bad. The English sheepdog bowed his head in failure. In the background, Professor Dante could be heard scoffing. Duke headed over to console his boss.
"Maybe we should take a week off," Duke advised quietly, placing a gloved paw on Cogsworth's shoulder. The sheepdog nodded his head numbly. He allowed the large mutt to lead him away. "I knew it wouldn't work. It never did- don't try telling me it did! And it never will," Dante growled as they passed him. The two ignored the words of the Mexican hairless.
All of the sudden, the dogs in the lab room heard someone stumble out of the glass casing. A look of shock came over each of their faces as they slowly turned around to find Max, alive and well, emerging from the smoke. Pointing at them, the terrier questioned, "I'm still getting paid, right?"
