Poe decidedly didn't rejoin the party and the Mand'alor made no move to make him either. They instead stayed the way they were, Poe mulling over his reflection while the other stood at the doorway.
It was only a few moments of complete silence before General Organa along with Finn and Cara reached the entrance. Oddly, the king made no move to let them pass.
"Let me see him." Leia's voice held a commanding tone. Poe turned around at the sound her voice, his eyebrows furrowing. The Mand'alor seemed to mull over the idea, before ultimately stepping to the side, albeit reluctantly.
If their relationship wasn't so strained at that moment, the general would have hugged him. She instead opted to sit down on a nearby bench, Cara moving to stand beside her leader, while Finn moved to embrace him.
"You alright?" Finn asked once he pulled away.
"Yeah..." Poe murmured, his attention focused more on the way the king shifted from foot to foot for a moment.
"We removed Chancellor Vanahan from the premise." Leia spoke up, a grimace on her face.
"Will there be criminal charges?" Cara spoke up, her and the king moving to stand closer to the group.
"He's too high up for anything to stick." She explained with a sigh, her hands wringing together as she spoke.
"We'll deal with it." The Mand'alor said simply, voice gruff. Cara nodded her head in agreement while everyone else in the room merely narrowed their eyes as the two moved to leave the room.
"Uh, was that what I think it—" Finn began.
"I'll pretend I never heard it and you will too." Leia spoke with finality, turning to Poe, her eyes analyzing his face.

The senate booked a lodging nearby for one night, giving them some semblance of a honeymoon. Poe didn't entirely know how to feel about it.
The Mand'alor hadn't left his side, besides the once, since the incident. Poe guessed the king was finally showing his intimidating and possessive true colors.
"You signing off?" Finn was stood up from his seat in the lobby with Rey, Leia, and Chewbacca following suit. Poe guessed they had been waiting for him.
"Yeah," The pilot had a tired smile on his face when he wrapped his arms around his best friend, sighing deeply into Finn's shoulder.
There was hurried droidspeak when he let go, to which Poe quickly turned around.
BB-8 whirred happily, ramming itself into Poe's shins. Poe laughed before kneeling down, running his hands along the droid's round form.
"Hey, buddy." The pilot wiped at his eyes before the droid backed away with a beep.
"I'm not crying, asshole." Poe grumbled, patting BB-8 on the head before standing up. He noticed that the Mand'alor was rather standoffish as soon as the droid had entered the room. Odd.
"The alliance says they'll turn a blind eye if a BB unit goes missing from base." Leia spoke up, stepping forward to meet Poe's eyes. He could see that this was her form of an apology, and he was ready to accept it.
"Thank you." He murmured, dipping his head in thanks before turning to look down at the droid. "You sure you wanna stick around with me, buddy?"
BB-8 whirred happily, accidentally rolling over the pilot's foot in it's excitement.
"Of course, if that's alright with the Mand'alor." Leia's voice no longer held such a soft and loving tone, turning diplomatic within a second.
Poe stood rigid before he turned to face his new husband. The mandalorian only stiffly nodded.
Shit.
Was he angry? Maybe he was putting on a facade until they were behind closed doors. Then he would beat Poe like he did the chancellor and throw BB into the nearest trash bin.
He numbly bid his other friends goodbye, not saying much besides placid reassurances.
The mandalorian was surprisingly patient as he waited for Poe to pull away from the two minute hug Chewbacca forced him into.
The commander tugged playfully at the lapel of Finn's jacket, his old leather fighter jacket. It looked better on the ex-trooper than he had ever did on him, he noticed. He smiled before patting Finn on the cheek.
"See you around." He mumbled with a smile before turning around to lead his loyal BB unit to the Mand'alor.
Of course, the suite had to be gigantic. Poe probably would have been enamored by it if he were in a more ideal situation. A pretty room didn't take away from the fact that he was living a lie.
With his fate already accepted, Poe drifted to the bedroom, attempting to remove his armor. How could they wear this everyday?
He had managed most of it though the paldrouns were rather confusing. The clasp was seemingly different from the rest.
"Need help?"
The pilot stumbled before he turned around to meet the king. He was silent in thought for a moment before he nodded. Again, Poe didn't want to make him angry.
Without another word the Mand'alor moved towards him, precise hands making quick work of unclasping the armor attached to Poe's right shoulder. It wasn't as complicated as Poe had originally made it out to be, making his face burn with shame.
The king left Poe to remove the other piece, picking up the stray armor strewn across the floor and placing each piece on the trunk that lay at the foot of the bed. He looked to Poe for a moment, as if ensuring that he could manage removing the other pauldron without assistance, before he turned to leave.
"I'll take the couch." The mandalorian called from behind his shoulder.
Poe opened his mouth though no words came out. He instead dutifully continued his bedtime ritual.
