Next day
At Malhotra Mansion

Manik was sitting on his study table and reading his academic books when Abhi came there and said,

Abhi:- What's up Mr. Grumpy Malhotra?

Manik's one glare and Abhi put his finger on his lips dramatically. At that time a servent came there making huge sound as he was holding a tray with two coffee mugs and snacks.

Manik:- (angrily) Tujha kitni bar bola ha, mera room ma ane sa pehla knock kiya kar?

Servant:- (scared) Sorry Bhaiya ji.

That servent immediately kept the tray on the table and ran away. Abhi took a coffee mug from the tray and started roaming around the room. He saw many medals and trophies are kept in a showcase. His eyes cought a chess board which was made of glass.

Abhi:- (excited) You play chess?

Manik:- Yeah. I won that chess board in the college internal sports competition.

Abhi:- Let's play chess.

Manik:- Do you know how to play chess?

Abhi:- (nervously) Yeah a little bit.

Manik:- But I have a condition. If you lose you will never come here.

Abhi:- And if by chance I win then you have to cooperate with me.

Manik:- (smirked) Okey. Let's play.

They started playing. Manik was taking Abhi for granted and wasn't focusing on the game that much. He was over confident and over confident is bad. Same happened with him when he noticed that Abhi was actually playing well. He tried to focus on the game but it was too late.

Abhi:- And it's a checkmate.

Manik:- (shocked) What the hell? I...I can't lose. Wait a minute you tricked me. You said you know playing chess a little bit so that I take you for granted and you can win easily.

Abhi:- Damn Manik you are so smart. But Mr. Smarty pants who told you to take me for granted? You should have focused on the game right?

Manik's blood boiled in anger. He was the college champion, he can't lose like that or should I say he can't accept his defend? He threw that glass chess board on floor which broke into pieces.

Manik:- (shouted) This is cheating. It's Nandini who told you everything right? That mini traitor, I will see her later.

Abhi:- If you are thinking that hearing glass breaking sounds your Parents and Nandini will be here then for your kind information nobody is at home. Your parents went to attend some business party and Nandini went to Navya's place for group studies.

Manik:- Oh so it was planned before only?

Abhi:- (smirked) Nothing was planned but yeah you made it easy for me. You have fallen into your own trap. So as I know The Great Manik Malhotra never break his commitment now will you cooperate with me or you want to back off from your commitment?

Manik:- What do you want?

Abhi:- Give me those pills you are taking daily.

Manik:- (shocked) How do you know about those pills? Even Nandini doesn't know about them.

Abhi:- Manik you are forgetting that I am a psychiatrist. When I first time meet you, your whole room was messy as if you were searching for something and not to forget your impulsive behavior and sudden violence. But after that whenever I meet you, your whole room was neet and clean and your behavior was absolutely calm and compose.

Manik didn't say anything. He opened his desk drawer and hand over those medicine to him. Abhi saw those medicine and said,

Abhi:- Manik you think those pills help you to calm you down but you know what they are making you depended on them and if you are taking them for a long time then I am sure you are badly addicted and maybe you started hallucinating things by now. Am I right?

Manik didn't replied to him. He was standing there bowing his head down. He knew what he was doing is wrong but we don't know his side of story yet.

Abhi:- Manik you are not sick. You are as normal as us. You just need to get control over your emotions that's it.

At Night

When Nandini came back she directly went to Manik's room and found him asleep. Usually he sleeps at evening and wake up at night then study till early morning then sleeps again. His sleeping timing is odd but nobody question him as he says it's his study time. At midnight Manik woke up and rubbing his eyes. He changed his outfit, wore a black hoodie and came backyard. He was about to climb on the wall when someone kept her hand on his shoulder. He turned back and saw it's Nandini.

Nandini:- (confused) Manik what are you doing here?

Manik:- Shhh I am doing night walk.

Nandini:- Wearing a hoodie?

Manik:- I am feeling cold, do you have any problem?

Nandini:- No.

Manik:- Then what are you doing here? Go sleep, go go go.

Nandini was about to go from there but she again turned back and said,

Nandini:- But Manik….

Manik:- Shhhh tum chillaya bina bat nahi kar sakti, aurat?

Nandini:- (whispered) Agar tumna mujha sach sach nahi bataya ki tum yaha kya kar rahe ho to mein pagal aurto ki tarha chilla chilla ka pura ghar ko jaga dungi. 

Manik:- Ghar pa ice cream khatam ho gaya ha, so I am going out to have ice-cream, happy?

Nandini:- (excitedly) Ice-cream???

Manik:- Shhhh.

Nandini:- I also want to have ice-cream.

Manik:- Okey I will bring ice-cream for you. Now go and sleep.

Nandini:- No I want to go with you.

Manik:- Are you mad? Did you saw your height? How will you climb that wall?

Nandini:- I don't want to hear anything. If you won't take me with you then I will start shouting. Uncle….

Nandini was about to shout but Manik pressed her mouth by his hand and said,

Manik:- Okey okay I am taking you with me. Now please stop shouting.

Nandini:- Yayyyyyyyyyy….

Manik:- I am bending down, hop on my back and climb the wall.

Nandini:- Manik how can I hop on you? You get hurt na?

Manik:- I won't. Now don't waste my time and hop on.

They climb the wall and went to a 24/7 open store.
