At afternoon
In Malhotra Mansion

Manik entered the mansion holding his throbbing head when Neonika said,

Neonika:- Manik why are you late today? Go and freshen up, I am sending lunch in your room.

Manik:- Mom I am not feeling hungry now. I am so tired and just want to crush on the bed. Please don't wake me up.

Neonika:- But....

Before Neonika could complete Manik directly went to his room and locked the door.

At Night

Raj came back from office and saw Nandini sitting on the couch and watching TV. He went to her, kissed her head and said,

Raj:- Nandini baccha, how was your day?

Nandini:- (smiled) it was good Uncle.

Raj:- Had dinner?

Nandini:- Not yet. You freshen up, let's have dinner together.

Raj:- okey.

At that time Neonika came downstairs and took laptop bag from Raj.

Raj:- Where is Manik?

Neonika:- He is in his room.

Raj:- Did he had his dinner?

Neonika:- No. He didn't even had his lunch. I knocked his door but seems like he is still sleeping locking his door.

Raj:- He again locked his door.

Neonika:- (rolling eyes) Oh please Raj. There is something called privacy you know.

Raj:- But according to you he is still a kid right? And kids shouldn't lock their room.

Neonika:- Raj you are impossible, you never leave a point to taunt me.

Raj:- And guess what you always give me points to taunt you. Now if you are done with your so called complaints against me should I go and check on my son?

Neonika:- Go, who is stopping you? Wait I am coming with you.

Raj and Neonika went to Manik's room and knocked at the door. After a few knock Manik opened the door and seeing his messy hairs they understood that he was actually sleeping.

Raj:- (angrily) Manik how many times should I tell you not to lock your door?

Manik:- Why? Is the building cought fire?

Raj:- Shut up. Why didn't you had your lunch?

Manik:- I didn't feel like eating anything.

Raj:- Skipping meals is not good Manik. Okey freshen up and come downstairs for dinner.

Manik:- I am not feeling hungry. My head hurts like hell.

Neonika immediately touched his forehead and found him burning with high fever.

Neonika:- (worried) Oh God he got fever.

Raj:- Let me call our family doctor.

Manik:- No need of calling doctor uncle. I just need some rest. Don't worry I will be fine by tomorrow.

At that time Nandini came there and said,

Nandini:- Uncle please call the doctor. He got hit on his head today morning at college. Maybe that's why he got fever too. I told him to visit a doctor but he denied and took a strong painkiller without any doctor's prescription.

Raj:- (angrily) Manik are you crazy? Why did you take strong painkiller without any doctor's prescription? Do you have any idea how dangerous it can be?

Manik:- I am fine Dad, just a little headache.

Raj:- Yeah I can see that. Neonika call our family doctor immediately.

After sometime doctor came and started checking Manik.

Doctor:- Did you threw up after getting hit on your head?

Manik:- Nope.

Doctor:- Thank God. It's not that serious then. I think because of extreme pain on head he got temperature. I am prescribing some medicines if temperature doesn't decries then we have to go for some test and maybe we have to admit him to the hospital too. Keep informing me about his condition, okey?

Raj:- Okey.

Doctor left there. Neonika made Manik eat dinner and medicine then Raj said,

Raj:- Nandini and Neonika you both go and sleep. I am staying with Manik tonight.

Manik:- No need to stay with me. I am absolutely fine.

Raj:- shut up. I am staying with you and that's final.

At Midnight

Manik was turning his sides again and again. Sleep was far away from his eyes. He was feeling restless about today's incidents. How can Nandini back off from her promises? She is completely changed now and her changed behavior was bothering him too much. Did he lost her? This thought was driving him crazy. Manik turned towards Raj and found him asleep. He slowly got up and opened his desk drawer, took some pills from a bottle. Then he again slept beside Raj and closed his eyes just to welcome some dreamless sleep.

Next Morning

Doctor:- He is absolutely fine. But young man taking medicines without doctor's prescription is really very dangerous. I hope you have learnt your lesson and won't repeat yourself.

Manik:- I am sorry Doctor Uncle. I won't repeat my mistake again.

Doctor left the room and Manik asked Neonika,

Manik:- Mom where is Nandini?

Neonika:- She went to college.

Manik immediately stood up from the bed and took his outfit from drawer.

Raj:- Manik where are you going?

Manik:- I have an important class today, can't miss it.

Neonika:- (worried) But you are still weak, you need rest.

Manik:- I am fine Mom and I promise I will be back soon.

Raj:- Okey, come with me. I will drop you at college and will send driver to pick you and Nandini.

Manik:- Okey.

At college

Manik entered the college and saw Navya talking with a girl. He went there and said,

Manik:- Hey Navya, did you see Nandini?

Navya:- She is in the library.

Manik:- Okey. Thanks.

Manik entered the library and saw Nandini again sitting with Aryaman. They were discussing about their assignment when Manik went to them and said,

Manik:- (angrily) Nandini what are you doing here? Don't you have class now?

Nandini:- I am banking class because tomorrow is the last date of submitting our assignment and it's not completed yet. By the way what are you doing here? You should have taken rest at home.

Manik:- That's none of your business. I will complete your assignment. Now go and attend your class.

Nandini:- Why will you complete my assignment? Don't you have your assignments?

Manik:- You don't need to think about me. Just go and attend your class.

Nandini:- (confused) Why do you still care for me?

Manik:- Because I can't be a selfish like you.

He was selfishly selfless
But she never cared
He kept hurting her
But he also loved her
She never understood
His way of love
And pushed him away
Just like a curse….
