Smiling when you're actually in tears. One might be going through a lot but its not necessary he'll show it out. He simply can hide it behind his smile.

Nandini and Mrunal had just finished their duties and getting back to their respective homes.

Mrunal: Mathlab, tum kabhi nahi bolne wali..

Nandini ( glared ): Are you trying to scare me..?

Mrunal ( smirked ): As if you're not already..!!

Nandini ( pissed ): Shut up, Mruno. Ek tho mein already nervous hoon aur tuje tho mere madad karna hai par nahi, tu tho khooni hi rahegi..

Mrunal kept her right arm around Nandini's shoulders while walking out of the hospital..

Mrunal: Fluffy, tum bewajah hi tensed ho rahi ho. You're not gonna take part in some fashion show to get this nervous. Tum tho bas jeeju ko propose karne wali ho. It's been already 6 months since your marriage.

Nandini: Wahi tho problem hai na. Fashion show shayad phir bhi mein kar paoongi par yeh nahi. What if he rejects me..? You know how our marriage happened right..!!

Mrunal ( mocked ): And, I just fell in love with Arijit Sinha..!!

Nandini ( horrified ): Whhaatt..!! Really..? Like how did it happen..?

Mrunal ( bad face ): I was being sarcastic..

Nandini ( scowled ): Tho pehle kyu nahi kaha. Agar mujhe heart-attack aaya tho kya kar lethi..?

Nandini ( cursed ): Mar jaa khooni..

Mrunal glared at her. As soon as they stepped outside the hospital, Nandini's gaze went up to the person standing near to a car making her to halt in her tracks..

Nandini ( stunned ): Shit..ye kaha se aagayi..?!!

Mrunal looked back at Nandini who stood in shock and then sighing while pulling her hair out..

Mrunal: Oye..jeeju yaha nahi hai na, phir kaha kho gayi tu..

Mrunal walked to Nandini and looked at her in irritation..

Mrunal frowned but then followed Nandini's gaze only to get shocked..

Mrunal: Oh teri ki..ye wapas aagayi..!!

Nandini ( sulked ): Iss Boyfriend Machine ko bhi abhi aana tha..!! I'm too worn out to listen to her bak-bak..

Soon, the person's gaze too fell on Mrunal and Nandini making her to smirk..

Person: Ah..finally, finally I'm back to you, sweetie..!!

Nandini and Mrunal stared at each other and sighed in irritation. Nevertheless, the person walked towards the girls and stood in front of them..

Nandini held Mrunal's hand and was about to move towards her car when Shagun's voice halted her in tracks..

Shagun was about to march towards Mrunal when Nandini stepped in between..

Nandini ( smirked ): Tumse nahi ho paega Shagun, tumse nahi ho paega mere pariwar ya mujhe hurt karne ko..Kyunki tumhe uski anjaam tho patha hai..

Shagun glared at her in return..

Nandini ( innocently ): Aur waise bhi, tum kuch karoge bhi kyu. Aakhir, jo tumhe chahiye wo tho kabhi mil bhi nahi paoge tum..

Shagun looked at her confusedly..

Nandini ( casually ): Wo kya hai na..Jo tumhe chahiye yaani ki, mere Papa ki properties, wo na hi mere naam pe hai, naa hi mere husband ya unke pariwar ke naam pe hain..

Shagun looked at her in shock..

Nandini ( innocently ): I know right. You're so shocked. Par kya karun, I'm a step ahead compared to you. Nandini: Ab, Miss Boyfriend Machine. Tum yaha beitke soch lo kaun ho saktha ya ho sakthi hai wo insaan aur mein apne ghar jaa rahi hoon.

Nandini got in her car while Mrunal got in her own car..

Nandini ( thoughtfully ): Waise, a warning, Miss, meri choti pe nazar rakhne ke koshish math karna. Mere Papa ki khoon daud rahe hai na mere andhar, apnon keliye kisiki bhi jaan le sakthi hoon. Tata Boyfriend Machine. Have a horrendous night..!!

And she drove away followed by Mrunal's car behind while Shagun banged her car's tyre with her foot..

Shagun: I seriously need to get this girl in my paws..!!

In Malhotra Mansion

Nandini walked inside the kitchen after getting freshen up, to see Nyonika cooking along with the worker's help.

Nandini: Evening, Mom..

Nyonika turned to Nandini while smiling and took her in a warm hug..

Nyonika: How was your day, Nandu..?

Nandini: Vexing..!!

She remembered the talk happened between her and Shagun while making a bad face..

Nyonika ( frowned ): Why so..?

Nandini: Ah Mom, nothing to worry, I just had a bad day in the hospital.

Nyonika ( sighed ):Tho kisne kaha tumse ithne kaam karne keliye..?

Nandini ( grinned ): I am a doctor and I'm so proud of it so I need to be responsible too with the hospital authorities..

Nyonika ( disbelievingly ): Tumse bath karna hai tho patience bhi chahiye Nandu..

Nandini: I know right. Bohath talented hoon mein..

Nyonika giggled and Nandini winked at her..

Nandini: Chalo Mom. I'll help you in..

" Lilliput..." they both heard a shout and Nandini pouted at Nyonika, who was giggling..

Nyonika: Chalo, tumhara Grumpy coffee wapas aagaya hai.

Nandini: Okay, I'll be back within 5 minutes. Don't start to cook anything which is our recipe, Mrs. Malhotra..

Saying it, she ran upstairs and reached their bedroom..

In MaNan's Bedroom

Nandini: You gotta change your habits, Grumpy coffee..

She said while entering the walk-in-closet to see Manik busy in pacing from here to there and then finally, he gave her a sarcastic grin..

Manik: I should have said the same, Mrs. Malhotra..

Nandini: Meri kaunsi aadath hai jo badalna hai tumhe..

Manik ( glared ): I've asked you to be in our bedroom whenever I come back home, right..

Nandini ( shrugged her shoulders ): Mein kaunsi tumhari koi bath sunthi hoon..

And she got busy in selecting a pair of casuals for Manik while he stood behind her with his arms wrapped around her waist..

Nandini: Lo..change karke aao..

She was about to turn when he nuzzled in her neck..

Manik: Don't..!!

She turned her face towards him and frowned..

Nandini: Kuch kehna hai..?

She raised her eyebrows at him when he looked up at her. She just need to listen to his voice to know what his mood is. She could easily guess whether he needs to share something with her or when he's upset.

Manik ( nodded in No ): Kuch poochna hai..

Nandini ( frowned ): Kya poochna hai..?

Manik: Why didn't you tell me about your Stepmother..?

She stared at him in shock with her breathe hitched in her throat while his eyes spoke concern for her.

They don't behave like the usual Grumpy coffee and Lilliput anymore. They're a lot free with each other, now. They don't feel any kind of awkwardness between them even if the situation demands for. Manik made her feel comfortable in sharing anything with him while she is a lot better now. If she needs something or if she wants to have a protector, its always Manik now. She, herself feels like, this isn't Nandini but Manik's Lilliput.

Nandini ( stunned ): How..do you..know about her..?

Manik ( smiled ): You spoke about her..

Nandini ( confused ): What..? When did I even mention anything about her..?

Manik: That's what Lilliput. You never mentioned anything about her. Why..? Acha hua ki mein aaj tumhe pick karne keliye hospital aaya warna mein kaise jaan paoonga ki ek negative character bhi hai tumhari zindagi mein..

Nandini sighed in defeat. He made her sit on a couch and knelt down in front of her.

Manik: You didn't want to share about her with me..?

Nandini ( sighed ): I never found her important to share about, with anyone, Grumpy coffee.

Manik ( softly ): Not even with me..?

She looked at him to see him hurt and this increased the guilt in her about their marriage being contract-based. She so wish they had a proper marriage, it wouldn't have eaten her up like how its doing to her since the moment she realized Manik also wants to be with her..

She cupped his cheeks and nodded in No..

Nandini: Aisa nahi hai. I..I just forgot about her. She was always a dark phase of mine and Choti's lives, in fact she still is. Jaise hi wo 6 mahine pehle apna new-boyfriend ke saath holiday manane gayi, tab se I was relieved. That was the moment I planned to get married. Aur tumse shadi karne ke baad, our eventful married life, it changed everything. I forgot that I had a vamp in my life who could irritate the shit out of me. Mien bas bhool gayi, Grumpy coffee. Aur..hamari shadi bhi tho..

She realized what she was about to say and closed her eyes to drink the tendency in her to let the truth out to him.

But she couldn't !

Her marriage with Manik happened, not only with her concern but also with Manik's parents wish and she couldn't disclose it to Manik without asking them. It wouldn't just affect her relationship with Manik but even his relationship with his parents.

She didn't want to keep it as a secret too. Overall, she's in a mess..!!

Manik ( sighed ): You planned to get married to get away from the guy with whom your marriage was fixed by that lady..?

Nandini nodded in yes. She wasn't surprised now, because she just got to know that Manik heard her conversation with her stepmother.

He stood up and settled beside her on the couch and entwined their fingers..

Manik: Lilliput, you've always talked about your parents' love story then how did this lady happen..?

Nandini ( smiled faintly ): Fate, you know, its not so gentle with us. Ma ke jaane ke baad Papa toot chuke the. Like I always said, he loved her way too much to get separated from her. He couldn't digest the fact that she left him alone. All alone with us. I was just 8 and Choti was just 5. A very tender age. Oopar se, hum ladkiyan bhi hai na. We needed attention from both the parents at that time, though we never complained whenever Papa prefers to sit alone. He tried hard to give us time but gradually, we realized, hum unhe Ma ki yaad dilathe the, isiliye wo humare saath bhi apna waqt guzaar nahi paa rahe hain. Pops noticed the way he distanced himself from family and his health. He confronted him and then finally, he asked Papa to get remarried. Bohath chillaya unhone Pops pe but he didn't budge. He asked Papa to let us live with him but he (Papa) couldn't let go off us also, neither we said yes to it. Isiliye Pops ne remarriage karne keliye kaha tha. Papa refused a lot. But there was a day, when he saw Choti crying in my arms because she was missing Ma. I was the eldest and I had to console her. Watching me trying to act matured and watching his little daughter crying over her mother made him to decide. Decide to get married again. But that was his mistake..His biggest mistake of his life..!!

She tried hard not to whimper in front of Manik and looked ahead while he took her in his embrace and kissed her forehead making her to snuggle to him and finally, a tear made its way out..

Nandini: Shagun Shukla. Pops's cousin sister. She was a widow and when Pops started to search for a bride, she started to shower an extreme depth of love over me and choti. Thinking it as a positive vibe, Pops asked Papa his opinion about Shagun. Since, she was family, Papa agreed to it thinking she could fill a mother's place in our lives. Unke shadi ke baad, pehle pehle wo waise hi thi jaise Papa aur Pops ne socha but then eventually, she started to show her true colors. Whenever Papa goes out of country, she gets unknown men inside our home. We were kids, we couldn't understand it. But then, one day, I questioned her about those men and she raised her voice at me. But one day, she raised her hand at my choti which took me off guard. I..pushed her on the wall which hurt her. Trust me Grumpy coffee, I didn't wanna hurt an elderly woman, but then, meri choti ko hurt kiya na, I couldn't bear it..

Before, she could wipe those tears away, his hands made their way to her cheeks. His eyes were bloodshot red thinking about the lady but he calmed himself down as she was his priority, for now.

Nandini: Par uss din, sirf mein nahi, Papa ne bhi dekh liya Shagun ke aski chehra. He was devastated. He couldn't bear that his daughters had to go through a lot and he wasn't aware of it. He blamed himself for it while Pops blamed himself for our misery. Shagun ko dhakke maarke nikala ghar se par Papa ko divorce nahi diya usne. He filed a case but then he was losing it. Case went on to months and years, while Papa slipped into depression and soon..he also..left us..

By now, she was crying in his chest and Manik tried to make him believe that his Lilliput can also cry if the situation asks for it..

Manik: Shh..Lilliput..its over now.

He caressed her cheeks while asking her to forget the past..

Nandini: Its all because of her, we lost our Papa, Grumpy coffee. Aur aaj bhi, wo Papa ke properties ke peeche hain jo mere aur Choti ke naam pe hain. Aaj thak wo Papa ke har ek property ki maalik thi, just because she wasn't divorced by Papa before he passed away. She still has no guilt in her..

She cried silently in his arms while he rubbed her back to soothe it. He didn't ask her to stop crying because he knew she needed it.

He asked once he felt her cheeks getting dried and her sobs getting slower. She looked up at him and furrowed her eyebrows..

Manik ( frowned ): Kya..?

Nandini ( cutely ): Yahi ki mein ro rahi thi.

Manik's lips broke into a smile and then he started chuckling much to her annoyance..

Nandini: Don't laugh okay. I didn't want to cry but you forced me to..

Manik ( smiled ): Lilliput, insan hai tho rona common hai. You can't be a hard nut forever. You need to let your tears out too.

Nandini ( nodded in No ): I don't believe in it. Aur Ma ne kaha tha mujhse jaane se pehle ki, kabhi bhi rona nahi chahiye. Aur Papa ne kaha tha iss dunya ke samne kabhi bhi apna weakness bahar dikhana nahi chahiye. I won't cry.

Manik sighed in defeat..

Manik ( faked sadness ): Papa aur Ma ke baath maanthi ho, par mera nahi..?

Nandini ( casually ): Wo tho kabhi nahi honewala hai..

Manik glared at her. She was about to untangle herself from him when he made her to sit on his lap. He tucked the hair strand behind her ear while smiling at her..

Manik: You don't need to fight her alone, anymore.

Nandini ( smiled ): I know that..

Manik: Waise Madam, is there anything that I need to know..? Mujhse aur koi bath chupane ke koshish bhi math karna..

He warned her and she lowered her gaze down. He pulled her chin upwards..

Manik: Kuch hai kya..?

She bobbed her head in yes making him to sigh in irritation..

Manik: Ab kya hai , Lilliput..?

Nandini: Nahi batha sakthi..

Manik glared at her. She pinched her throat..

Nandini: I swear, I'll share it with you. Par ab nahi, mujhe thoda waqt dhe dho, phir mein zaroor batha doongi..

Manik ( angrily ): Ab bathana chahiye..

She looked the other side and unlike her usual self, she didn't look annoyed but sad. He could read some kind of guilt in her eyes when he made her face him..

Manik ( sighed ): Fine. Kithna waqt chahiye tumhe..?

Nandini ( smiled ): Bas, patha nahi. Par mein jithni jaldhi ho sake uthni jaldhi hi batha dhoongi.

Manik ( furrowed his eyebrows ): Nandini promise..?

Nandini ( grinned ): Nandini promise..

Manik ( nodded ): Phir tho teek hai..

She squealed in his lap and kissed his cheeks tightly..

Nandini: Thank you..

She was about to get up when he pulled her back..

Manik: Apna inaam diya hai mene ab mera inaam dho..

She sighed. It was always his way of getting her on his fingertips. When they agree to something, he needs a reward and she would also get her reward..

Nandini: Chalo, punch nahi maroongi..

Everyone were already asleep while Manik and Nandini preferred to be in each other's arms being totally lost in the atmosphere of their love..!!

She stretched her arm and took the mobile in her hand..

Manik ( angrily ): Lilliput..

She looked up at his face to see his reddened eyes and she sighed..

Nandini: Grumpy coffee, jo bhi tumhara amanath hai usse nazar hatane keliye kahoongi mein ek din usse. Ab mujhe phone attend karne dho. He's my boss, after all..

Manik ( glared ): But, I hate him..

Nandini: Mein kaha tumse usse pyar karne keliye bol rahi hoon..

Manik ( frustrated ): Lilliput..

Nandini: Chuppppp..

And she attended the call while he kept it on speaker which she ignored and faked a yawn..

Nandini: Yes Aadit..

Aadit: Oh, I'm sorry Nandini. Were you sleeping..?

Manik ( muttered ): Raath ke 11 baje marathon khel rahi thi na meri Lilliput..

Nandini slapped his arms lightly..

Nandini: Of course, I was sleeping, Aadit. It's been really late. But, its fine. Anything serious..?

Aadit ( apologetically ): I'm sorry. Actually, you have to attend an early meeting tomorrow. I had sent mails to all of you but then I couldn't get reply from you nor Dr. Singhania.

She, knew Mrunal will be planning Shagun's murder by now which is why the meeting slipped off her mind while Nandini didn't even notice any such mails due to her confession to Manik regarding her stepmother..

Nandini: Erm..I'm sorry. I didn't notice it. Thank you for reminding anyhow..

Aadit ( blushed ): With pleasure..

Manik ( pissed ): If you're done with your "sorry" and "thank you" then kindly end the call.

Aadit ( angrily ): Mr. Malhotra, I called up my employee cum best friend.

Manik: Well, let me remind you, for me, you called up my wife in the late night. I don't care even if it's for something professional. Now, have a not-so-good night.

Manik hung the call up and looked at Nandini in rage while she too had an angry expression on her face..

Manik: Because, I hate him..

Nandini: I've been hearing it since a long time.

He hovered above her in a blink..

Manik: YOU!! Its you which I wanted to hide from him. I won't share what's mine with anyone and you're no exception in it. He has his filthy eyes on you and I seriously hate him for it. Like, how dare he crush on my wife..?!

Nandini stared at Manik with her jaws dropped down and when the realization hit her, she started to giggle.

Nandini: You mean..you were jealous..of him..?

She spoke amidst her laughter while he grew more annoyed..

Manik: I wasn't jealous, okay.

Nandini: Yeah right. I seriously gotta believe you, Grumpy coffee.

She didn't put a stop in her giggling and he pressed his lips on her's taking her in surprise. She started to beat his chest but he pinned her hands on the bed and deepened the kiss. She stood rigid without responding to his kiss making him to groan. His hands went under her shirt which forced her to open her mouth and he pushed his tongue inside her mouth.

Soon, she started to respond to his kiss and he immediately let go off the grip he had on her hands and lifted her waist with his hands without breaking the kiss.

On breathing heavily, he dipped his head in her neck and placed wet kisses making her to moan. He looked up in her eyes and saw the same desires in them which he holds in his eyes..

Manik ( whispered ): Stop me, Lilliput, before I get out of control..

She looked in his eyes to see him trying hard to control himself when she herself was trying not to lose in front of him. But, she had to give up when their skins came in contact with each other. His hands rested on her bare waist and she lost the tinge of control that she had with her..

Sun rays were peeping through the windows which directly hit those faces where only peaceful smiles could be seen.

His voice was filled with happiness and excitement..
