ENGAGEMENT, 5TH DECEMBER 2018

*Nandini*

We reached at the venue seperately..so that no one doubts it.

"Kaha thi beta"

Ma asked me.

"Kuch Kam tha ma. Bahut important."

I said looking at Manik.

"Chaliye.. engagement shuru karte hai."

Mom said and we all went up on the stage.

I looked at Manik and he winked at me.

I was surprised but I winked back.

"I am happy for you both."

Navya whispered and I smiled.

"Mere Bina..kaise ho Sakta hai ye engagement."

Someone said and we all looked at the door to see Sameer uncle.

"Tujhe kaise bhool sakte hai. Teri wajah se hi to ho Rahi hai ye shaadi."

Dad said and Papa nodded.

Manik and I touched his feet and he hugged us.

"Tumhe is tarah dekh kar bahut acha lag Raha hai."

He said and blessed us.

As we were about to go back on the stage,

"Aur mujhe kaise bhul Gaye tum Sab!"

The voice sounded so familiar.

I looked at Ma and Papa to see them shocked.

I looked behind to see..

"A..amms..!"

Manik heard my whisper like sound and came and held my hand.

Papa came down and said.

"Ap yaha kya kare Rahi hai? Kisne Bulaya apko?Dekhiye ap..-"

Before papa could complete, I interrupted,

"Papa..rukiye!"

I moved closer to her and said,

"Bin bulaye mehmano ki jagah nahi yaha vaise..India ke TOP businessman ke beti ki shaadi hai . Par ab ap aa hi gayi hai..to NANDINI MURTHY WELCOMES YOU!"

I could see her shocked face.

I turned back, held Papa's hand, Manik's hand and took them to the stage

"I will not be affected by her presence. I told you na."

I told Manik and gave a glance to papa.

"Chalo bhai! Let's start. Manik Nandini Ko ring pehna."

Cabir said.

I forwarded my hand, and looked at him.

He smiled.

He slid the ring in my finger and I felt different.

Maybe, words cannot explain what I felt.

Claps and hooting of people broke my trance and then Navya said,

"Ab Nandini ki baari..chalo Manik hath aage badhao."

Navya said this time.

With each step my hand took in forward direction, I saw all my fears going into the bin. I have overcome all my fears today!

I welcomed Mrs. Murthy. What can be a bigger achievement.

I slid the ring in Manik's finger happily.

Everybody clapped and I could sense someone's jealousy.

"I would like to say something "

I announced.

I was given the Mic and everybody sat at their respective places except Manik. I needed his support to say what I was going to say.

"I Nandini Murthy want to tell you all, that I never believed in love, trust. All these were fake terms for me and for Manik, these were the purest feelings and most important in a relationship. Destiny made us meet and we both agreed for this marriage. I told Manik everything on the first day...but still he supported me. And now, because of him I have overcome all my fears and I can say in front of you all, I trust Manik and Yes, I love you Manik Malhotra."

I looked at Manik while I said the last line.

Yes, confession once again.

I wanted our parents to know so that they could be happy as well.

"I love you too Nandini Murthy. And aise hi pakde rahunga tumhara hath. Chahe kuch bhi ho jaye."

He said and everyone clapped.

We celebrated the evening by dancing and later went to sleep.

We have booked one place for the groom's family and bride's family just like in Cabir and Navya's wedding.

Thinking how to convince dad, I slept.
