Dr Manik Malhotra, the final year surgery resident was to get married arranged by his family to Dr Aliya, the final year gynaecology resident (working in different hospital in different state) on 12th May 2022 but unfortunately his grandmother contracted Covid 19 and never recovered. She passed away on 2nd May so the wedding had to be postponed for an year. (According to Hindu rituals, if there's a death in family, there's no celebration of festivals or marriage for one year). Since it was an arrange marriage so both had minimal contact and since the wedding was postponed, they both got busy with their professional lives.

On June 15th (Day 1, Tuesday):

Nandini: huh surgery posting to start from today.. i hope to get a good unit and learn something!!!!

Navya: same bro.

They both got ready in scrubs .. nandini put on her contact lenses... applied eye liner with mascara and went to surgery department to give joining. Co-incidentally, both got the same unit. They were told to go to OT as it was that unit's OT day. As they entered OT, they introduced themselves. The unit seemed to be welcoming and warm. Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy was going on. Navya and Nandini both were standing and watching the procedure when Nandini noticed that someone was staring at her.. she lifted her head up and saw a pair of eyes with thick, heavy and curly eyelashes stealing glances at her. She just got mesmerised with the eyes thinking if eyes are so beautiful, the person in whole would be a treat to eyes but then realised and came back to reality.

*Nandini and Navya has always been introverts who never talked or went out with anyone else, they both were enough for each other hence they didn't know about Manik Malhotra despite him being famous in college*

Their first year surgery resident (Vivek) introduced the final year residents and faculty to both, only then they came to know who Manik was. Nandini could feel the heat in that air conditioned OT due to Manik's regular glances. Since Manik was performing surgery, he called "Nandini come here and adjust my mask". Nandini went up to him lowering her gaze and as to adjust his mask she looked up, their eyes got locked. For few seconds both literally forgot that they're in hospital with OT going on. Anyways she balanced herself and adjusted his mask. Navya noticed it all.

The OT got over and Vivek asked them to leave and return to ward by 7am tomorrow. They wished everyone and left.

In hostel:
Navya: nandu what the hell was that????
Nandini: what?!
Navya: you and Manik sir??
Nandini: heinn!!!! Nothing as such!! He just asked me to adjust his mask and I did that💁🏻‍♀️
Navya: I'm telling you, he will hit on you for sure!
Nandini: oh is it??? Let's see !! 🙄
Navya: this weekend he will ask you for date, I can bet. And if he ask you out, just go and get some action, only 1 year is left here, enjoy!!!!
Nandini: yaah yaah sure🙄

Nandini unware of what's coming to hit her jerked off Navya's talks, ate dinner and went to sleep with preparation of reaching ward tomorrow at 7am.
