Next day

Nandini and Navya were sitting in the library when Navya said,

Navya:- You have to come, buddy.

Nandini:- No, I am not coming.

Navya:- You are so boring.

Nandini:- (angrily) What did you say?

Navya:- Nothing.

Nandini:- If I am boring then what are you doing with me? Go and enjoy the party with your new friends.

Navya:- Come on, buddy. It will be fun and I assure you that nobody will tease you by calling you a nerd.

Nandini:- I don't care about what people call me. I am not coming and that's final.

Navya:- Then I will tell everyone that you write stories on Wattpad.

Nandini:- (shouted angrily) Dare you do that.

The librarian:- Silence please.

Navya:- (whispered slowly) Ab aya na utt pahar ka nicha. Just watch me revealing your little secret in front of everyone.

Nandini:- Buddy I am warning you for the last time.

Navya:- And I am telling you for the last time that you are coming with me to the fresher's party.

Nandini:- Fine. Pick me up from my house.

Navya:- See, it's very easy for me to make you do what you don't want to do.

Nandini:- Don't provoke the sleeping tigress. Exams will be coming soon.

Navya:- (shouted in excitement) Don't talk about exams now. Let's just enjoy this moment fully.

The librarian:- (shouted) You two, get out of the library right now.

Nandini was holding a book and she immediately hit Navya with that and left the library angrily.

Navya:- (confused) Now what did I do?

Few days later
At fresher's party

Nandini:- I seriously regret coming here. The music is too loud. Look at those boys dancing like some drunk fellow.

Navya:- Chill Buddy. Every year our seniors won't arrange fresher's parties for us, right? So just enjoy it.

Nandini:- What's there to enjoy?

Navya was holding a cold drink she gave it to her and said,

Navya:- Here, drink this and cool down your temper. I will get another drink for myself.

Navya left to get another drink for her. When Nandini brought that glass near her lips someone pushed the glass which fell down and broke into pieces. Yes it was her savior again.

Manik:- Don't drink.

Within a few minutes senior students divided into two groups and started fighting. Actually some seniors spiked fresher's drinks. When Manik and his friends got to know that they came to solve the matter before the situation got out of hand. But Nandini didn't know that and she started shouting at him,

Nandini:- What the hell did you do? Now who will pay for this glass? Why don't you leave me alone?

Manik:- You don't know anything so just shut your mouth for now.

Nandini:- Why should I? I have been watching you from the very first day. You always try to embarrass me in front of everyone. Why? What did I do? It's just that I wear glasses and don't like to mingle with people like you. That's the problem, isn't it? But you don't have any right to judge me and I am absolutely happy the way I am. I don't give any fuck about what people think about me. So I am warning you from now on just stay away from me otherwise you have to regret it.

After giving this long lecture Nandini went to Navya who was laughing like a fool. Actually she had the spiked drink and it already started affecting her. Nandini held her hand and said,

Nandini:- Come Buddy, let's go home.

Navya jerked her hand and shouted loudly,

Navya:- No way. Party just started and I don't want to go home this early. What would I do after going home? I would have to become a referee for my parents as usual who would be busy fighting with each other. That house has anything but peace. I can't study attentively, I can't breathe freely. Those walls suffocate me like hell. I don't want to go there. I want to go far away from here so that nobody can bring me back to that hell.

Navya was behaving like a drunk person but Nandini knew that she never drink. Then suddenly what happened to her? She shook her and said,

Nandini:- Buddy, what happened to you? Why are you behaving like this?

Navya:- What happened to me? I want to live my life just the way I want to. I don't want my parents to handle me like their puppet. I want to be myself.

When Nandini couldn't understand what happened to her. Manik said,

Manik:- Someone spiked the drink and she might have had it. That's why I pushed the glass but you didn't give me any chance to explain.

Navya:- Very bad, buddy. You should have listened to him. He is a good boy unlike my elder sister who taunts me for every single thing. Trust me, being a girl is a curse. If I had a choice I would be just like him. The brave knight.

Nandini:- Shut up and come with me. Tonight you will stay with me.

Navya:- Sacchi? That would be fun. But the party isn't over yet. Hey dj, why did you stop the music? Play abhi toh party shuru hui hai song. I want to dance to that song.

Nandini again held her hand and tried to take her out of the hall room. But she jerked her hands again and said,

Navya:- Leave me. I don't want to go.

It wasn't her fault, actually half of the fresher's were behaving like that only. Seeing the situation going out to control Manik said,

Manik:- Party is over guys. Cabir, make sure they all reach home safely, especially girls.

This time Manik held Navya's left hand and dragged her out of the room.

Navya:- Hey, leave my hand. I don't like boys touching me. You are a good boy that's why I am not punching you otherwise you don't know about my punching skills.

Navya tried to get out of his grip but he was strong enough to drag her along with him. Nandini immediately held Navya's right hand and said,

Nandini:- (shouted) Where are you taking her? Leave her hand. I said leave her hand, now.

Manik:- Look at you and look at her. If you try to drag her she won't move an inch. So tell me the address and come with me. Trust me I won't harm her.

Navya:- No, no buddy. Don't trust him. We shouldn't trust the boys. What if he takes us to the red light area and sells us?

Nandini:- Exactly. Why should we trust you?

Manik:- Oh god, please give me some patience to deal with those mad girls. Please trust me for once and I swear you won't regret it.

Navya:- But I will regret it. I regret each and every day of my life. You won't understand the pain of being an unwanted child. They wanted a boy but your god sent me into their life. They weren't happy with me. They will never be happy with me. They just compare me with their elder daughter and taunt me every single day.

Manik:- Shut up and start walking.

Nandini:- No, no. Let her speak. There is a lot bottled up inside her.

Manik:- Are we going to keep standing here for the rest of the night?

Manik was getting out of patience that's why Nandini side hugged Navya and said,

Nandini:- Buddy, I will listen to you but please come with us.

Navya:- (pouted) I don't want to go home.

Nandini:- Don't worry, you are going to stay in my house tonight.

Navya:- Then pick me up. Jaisa movies mein hero's heroins ko uthate hai na bilkul waisa hi.

Nandini:- Are you crazy?

Navya:- (started crying) You are my best friend right? Can't you do it for me? Dost dost na rahi pyaar to abhi tak mila hi nahi. Or mujhe aaj tak kisi na samjha hi nahi.

Manik:- That's it. I can't handle her drama anymore.

Manik tried to pick her up but she started shouting,

Navya:- No, don't touch me. I didn't tell you to pick me up. Buddy ko bola tha.

Manik:- But your buddy doesn't have that stamina to pick you up and walk.

Navya:- Yeah, she is so thin. I wonder why she didn't fly away in the wind.

Nandini:- (shouted) Buddy, will you shut up or should I slap you?

Navya:- Opsy. It's better to shut up rather than getting your fingerprint on my cheeks.

That day Manik safely brought them home and somehow Nandini managed to get Navya inside the house without letting her mother know about her condition. After that day Nandini didn't meet Manik but Navya met him and thanked him for helping them that day.
