as the elevator doors clung open Manik sprinted forward like never before...he ran as if he was on fire.....he din't care if people looked at him as if he was insane....he din't care if his image would be ruined , all he could think at this moment was how much he was close to losing her again....how much close he was to losing that one chance on redemption...hence even with his strained muscles he pushed forward......

the moment he opened the door of the cabin he was panting heavily...he inhaled huge amounts of air and calmed his nerves...

"the first day of work and you barely managed to be on time...you sure do impress me Mr. malhotra " Nandini uttered as a smirk sat on her lips......

Manik looked at her back as she was facing the opposite side....he quickly stood straight as she turned around in her seat.......seeing her stern face he began explaining " Nandini i....."

Before he can continue he was interrupted by Nandini herself......

" ah....before that....since you have forgotten, let me remind you....." Nandini said as she gestured to the gold name plate that sat atop her mahogany table which read Nandini Murthy – CEO

" calling your boss with her name is not something i fancy....you are an employee here manik.....and ' I  'am your employer... I didn't think I would have to teach the youngest business tycoon such a basic thing mr.malhotra....." Nandini said in a fake surprised tone.....

Manik gulped his emotions down.....surely this wouldn't be easy....he can't let her indifference get the better of him....it's his turn to fight for them and he will....he just needs to strive through this......

" boss...traffic...." Manik uttered feeling embarrassed.....it was a very vague reason...something even he didn't acknowledge his employs using and eventually fired such people, as in business world time was money, but now, here he was uttering the exact same reason he used to loathe hearing...

" traffic...i wonder what you would do if you are now in my place mr.malhotra....you are not an ordinary employ mr malhotra.......you are my personal secretary.....one that keeps tabs of all my meetings and plans my schedule.....because of you i could have lost a deal worth billions..... I have already warned you..since you were brave enough to be careless.....you should also be prepared to pay for the consequences........." Nandini spoke sternly....

By the time she finished Manik's face looked horrified but eventually he nodded his head.....

" good I want you to reorganize the past 15 years revenue reports and update the data into the system by evening.....and this time, be sure to be on time cause if you don't you might as well be gone before I reach home...... I am sure you understand....." Nandini smiled....

Manik widened his eyes and nodded....

" good " with that she turned to concentrate on the laptop while Manik turned to leave.....before he stepped out of the cabin he heard her yell " and don't forget to bring my black coffee before you start...you can ask beth ( receptionist ) about my preference....my meeting starts exactly after 10 min so you better hurry with the coffee........"

Manik sighed and made his way to beth as fast as his legs could take him.........

After Manik left, a chuckle escaped Nandini's lips as she leaned on the chair and glanced at the tab opened on the laptop which showed angry birds....

She held the nameplate and opened the side drawer which revealed yet another nameplate in it.....she replaced the nameplate with this one which read Akash Oberoi – CEO

She looked at the opposite door and called out " you can come out now mamu......"

At that moment the door opened revealing Akash Murthy who was wearing a grey three-piece business attire and chuckling at his niece......" I almost had a heart attack when you wanted to go to office today....not only that you  wanted to be an acting CEO when you clearly were not interested to even  sit in one of those business meets.....but now seeing you here....i am speechless .......that boy...he sure is special to make my niece does this kind of thing......."

Nandini made a bad face and spoke " oh please mamu.....if not for the fact that i can't reveal about the underworld to him yet i had to do this...."

Akash grinned and continued " though you are in underworld your business mind is still so sharp.....not only you made him think that he was late even though he was on time...you even gave out punishment......you punished him for his apparent delay but also managed to use his brain to clear the revenue records which were unsettled for a few months now and that too within a day.......must say I am impressed......"

Nandini grinned and a made bowing gesture towards Akash......

Hyatt hotel....

after staying for a day in the hotel aliya decided to shop to her heart's content to release her stress.....both she and mukthi strolled through the latest arrivals and picked their clothes.....

finally after a good 3 hours of shopping aliya's face was glowing in happiness.....surely shopping was her stress buster.....they stood in line to pay for their clothes while chatting with each other........

" i am happy aliya that now you are fine....." mukthi spoke smiling......

aliya nodded and continued " yes me too....did you had any contact with mark......"

mukthi frowned and said "  after that last attack on Manik i was still in contact with him.....he said that he was planning something big and that this time Manik wont be able to escape from it.....but i don't know why the other day i lost contact with him....i don't know where the hell he is now....."

aliya furrowed her brows " i will ask dhruv to look into it......don't worry he will find out real quick " aliya said proudly........

mukthi nodded and aliya handed her credit card to pay the bill.....the sales girl swiped the card and frowned.....

she handed the card to aliya and spoke " miss the card does not seem to be working......"

aliya was confused for a second before she spoke " what....try again there is no problem with my card.....it must have been your fault....."

hearing her the sales girl could only try once more but it dint work......she handed it back to her while still maintaing her respectful posture "  i am sorry mam but the card is not working....."

aliya frowned and gave her another card " here try this one...."

the sales girl sighed and took her card to try again but the answer was still the same she scowled and returned the card..." the problem is with your card miss.....will please step aside you are blocking other customers.."

aliya was startled she was about to yell at the salesgirl but mukthi pulled her aside to calm her down......

" what does she mean by my card is not working......how can that be..." aliya scowled....

she took out her phone and dialed harshad's number to find out what's going on....the call was connected in the first ring itself......before she could fuss about her cards she heard harshad yell from the other side.........

" what have you done aliya......" harshad's hysterically yelled........

aliya was startled but she quickly composed herself " what do you mean....what happened.....why are all my cards blocked......"

" are you kidding me....it was me who had to block your cards.....do you even know what is happening in our company.....we have recently signed a huge contract with an international company but all of a sudden we have lost all our investors.....the shareholders are backing down....our company stocks  had hit rock bottom and the contract was terminated.....and when i asked them the reason do you know what they said..........they said.....ask your sister....."

" i dont know what you have done or who you have offended but if you dont make it right then forget about new clothes we will be living on the streets...." Harshad yelled and cut the call.......

the moment the call was disconnected her mind was numb....a certain someone's name came to her mind as a sentence rang in her ear......

" no one can escape N.M 's cluthes "

her face was covered with dread....

" it's over " she muttered as she realized that now none can save her.......
