..The New York City was all set in twinkles of light by now..the sun had already set and stars had started making their appearance in the dark sky. He walked out in balcony and rubbed his hands as cold breeze made way through his body. He took off his spectacles and stared at the stars wiping the tear formed in the corner of his eyes. He tried his best not to shed them but in vain. He almost bursted out looking at the stars..finding his mother in them.
.." Aapko pata hai..Kal woh Abhay sai milne wali hai. Yesha nahi hai mai bilkul nahi chahta woh mile..infact I'm the most happy person right now promise. Par thodi takleef toh hoti nah. Nandu jee never loved me..woh mujhse pyaar nahi karti mummy. Bilkul nahi karti..karegi bhi kyu..woh toh hamesha sai Abhay koh pyaar karti aayi hai..karti rahegj..Manik Malhotra aaya aur gaya unhe jyada farak nahi padta mummy. Pata hai..17 saal ki thi..jab pehli baar unko dekha thaa..sweet shi..beautiful shi..natkhat shi. Unke jaisa sundar maine kahi nahi dekha thaa by god. Par unhone mujhe kabhi notice hi nahi kiya..karegi bhi kyu..mai thaa hi..mota sa..bhadda sa..but I don't mind..really. Jaanta hu..woh ish sadi sai bilkul khush nahi hai..par koi nahi jee..kal woh Abhay sai mil jayegi toh mai khushi khushi unko jane dunga. After all her happiness is my responsibility right ( He muttered staring at the sky and wiped away his tears harshly )
.." Promise..Manik khushi khushi apne Nandu jee koh jane dega ( He muttered shedding tears silently when she called him from behind. He immediately wiped away his tears and wearing his spectacles back turned toward her with small smile )
.." Manik..aap roh rahe hoh. Are you crying ( She asked softly looking at his red face while he smiled faintly nodding in no )
.." No..Not at all Nandu I mean Nandini Jee..woh toh mai bas upar taaro koh dekh raha thaa. I love them know ( He uttered pointing toward the sky while she smiled softly and rolling her wheel chair went closer to him while he knelt before her )
..Nandu:- Aapke jagah koi aur hota then sayad aaj mai nahi hoti..apne Abhay kai sehar mai. Dil sai jitna thank you kahu utna kam hai..but at same time it's difficult to say sorry also. I know aapka dil toota hai sayad ( She whispered while he hesitantly placed his hands on her and smiled caressing them gently)
.." Not you're fault Nandini Jee. Doh pyaar karne mil jaye then what else is needed. Mera kya hai..jaise rehta thaa..waise reh lunga..yoy don't worry ( He muttered while she looked down shedding tears from her big doe eyes )
.." Abhay mujhe accept toh karega naa. I mean jab sai woh accident hua tab sai mere pair. I'm scared what if woh mujhe reject nah karde ( She whispered while he nodded in no wiping her tears away with his handkerchief )
.." Aapka aur ushka true love haina..toh dar kish baat kah. Dekhna..lifetime aapka saath dega..hamesha ( He mumbled while she smiled and nodded making him smile too)
..Nandini was 17 years old when her Appa had decided her marriage will happen with his most loyal and best friends son Manik Malhotra since they very close had each others trust. That was the time when Manik had fallen for her deeply but the personality he hold up was not a image which Nandini had formed for her life partner and hence had ignored the fact about her marriage. Whereas Manik went on his own dream land and had shifted to London with father for his further business studies where as Nandini remained in India with her family living a carefree life and later had fallen for her college mate Abhay Singhal. Dated for long and he too had to shift America with his family and had promised to meet Nandini again. Time passed and when she had turned 23..she met with a huge accident during the picnic trips with her friends resulting..her legs had completely gone paralyzed.
..On those years..Nandini had never faded away from Manik's memory. She had always lived in his heart and mind and when he returned India along with his father..Nandini's Appa was afraid if he still had interest to marry his daughter. Being a gem heart Manik had accepted for marriage and soon had taken seven vows with her all by his heart. When Nandini had confessed about her feelings to him during their first night he had completely shattered over that..but then consoling his heart and mind he had promised her that he would surely unite the lovers..and soon he took Nandini with him and landed up in New York searching for Abhay Singhal and the day had arrived.
..Manik stood infront of the Singhal Mansion holding Nandini's wheel chair. Taking a deep breathe he walked inside while Nandini had a sparkle of tears in her eyes as finally she would meet Abhay after long time. She couldn't wait for the time when she would be his arms )
.." Wait here. Sir will be here soon ( Maid informed placing the glass of juice infront of them while Manik nodded and sat adjusting his blazer. Nandini glanced at her watch again and again waiting impatiently for Abhay and finally he made his appearance making her smile to the fullest )
.." Abhay ( She called out loudly and tried rolling her wheel chair towards him when Manik caught hold of it and slowly rolled it toward Abhay who had blank expression seing them )
..Abhay:- Nandini Murthy? Tum yaha kaise..I mean what a ssurprise but this wheel chair ? ( He asked casually making her frown a bit )
.." Abhay tum khush nahi hoh mujhe yaha dekh kar( She asked tilting her head a bit while he shrugged casually putting his hands on his waist )
.." Yeah a bit. Waise..suna sadi hoh gayi tuhmari..he might be you're husband. Nice to meet you ( Abhay smiled looking at Manik and by now Nandini was in tears while Manik was confused looking at the current situation of them )
.." Abhay yeh majak nahi hai. India sai yaha sirf tumse milne aayi hu. Have you forgotten about our promise. Dekho mai aa gayi..sirf tuhmare liye ( She uttered while Abhay blinked his eyes for a moment looking at her. Meanwhile his wife Anatra came downstairs and smiled at them taking him in side hug )
.." Whoa! Nandini..think practical yaar. We were immature at that time. Nadan thai kuch bhi samajhne yaa karne kai liye. Wese bhi I had never loved you. It was just an infatuation yaar ab toh sadi hoh chuki tuhmari and meri bhi. Samjha karo ( He placed his point of view which did nothing but broked Nandini into million pieces. For whom she was ready to sacrifice everything. He only was rejecting her when she needed him the most.)
.." Mai samajh sakta hu aap joh keh rahe hai par ish tarah. Nandini jee aapka intezaar karti rahi aur aap sadi karke baith gaye..confront karna zaroori bhi nahi samjha. Yeh toh galat hua naa ( Manik said looking at Nandini who was crying badly by now. Abhay laughed a bit and uttered staring at him)
.." Listen Mr.Whatever. Yeh mera private life hai. Mai jog bhi karu. Who are you to poke you're nose in between ( Abhay asked raising his eyebrows while Nandini snapped back at him )
.." Husband hai mere. Most importantly ek ache insan hai joh apni biwi kai khushi kai liye ushe chodne koh tak tayyar hai. Tuhmari tarah nahi hai joh waqt kai saath apna rang badalte ( She muttered angrily while Abhay shrugged making a whatever look holding Antra's waist )
.." Yahi toh problem hai tuhmari..typical Indian drama. Thoda haske baat kar liya..pyaar and all. I know ush waqt mai popular thaa which is why mere peeche padi rehti thi. Tuhme kya laga..apna dukh bhari story aur wheel chair lekar aaogi. Mai pity feel karunga..tuhmara bojh uthaunga. Do I look like a crazy to you. Of course..tuhmare is stupid husband sai tum handle nahi hoh payi hogi..after all he's gotta a life too. Anyway koi help chahiye toh keh dena mai cheque send kar dunga. After all tuhmare woh master jee dad sorry Appa sai bhi jyada nahi hoh paya hoga na ( Abhay shrugged saying this while Antra widened her eyes at him as she wasn't liking this at all)
.." Thanks but no thanks Mr.Abhay Singhal. Mujhe tuhmare sympathy ki koi zaroorat nahi but yeah tum chaho toh badle mai I can send you blank cheques. Yeh joh mere husband haina..tumse das guna jyada kamate hai..infact yeh insan tuhme kharidke apne empire kai peon bana sakte hai. But unfortunately yeh tuhmari tarah ghamandi bilkul nahi hai samjhe. Anyway mujhe tuhmare yaha aur time waste nahi karna..as yeshe low standard ki ghar mai the one only Manik Malhotra ka dum ghoot raha hoga. Chaliye Manik ( Nandini mumbled rolling away her wheel chair while Abhay looked at Manik in bit astonished way as he couldn't believe the man he had heard about only was standing infront of him who was none other than his ex girlfriends husband. Man with huge wealth and wisdom and yet no sign of attitude in his nature.)
..Manik and Nandini were now sitting quite in the park. Manik was looking at her every now and then while she was staring at the grass with blank face. Not even she had blinked her eyes for a moment.
.." Nandini Jee..ab aage kya karna hai kaho. Aapki khamoshi dara rahi hai ( He uttered while she took a deep breathe and turned to him with expression less face )
.." Ish sehar sai jaldi nikalna hai. Aap mujhe kahi bhi leh chalo..kahi bhi bas in sab sai door leh chalo Manik. I can't tolerate now ( She whispered and rolled away her wheel chair while Manik nodded and stood up holding her wheel chair and walking away from the garden. Walking away from the New York City )
..Nandini opened her eyes and saw herself tucked inside bed. She stood up streaching her arms and saw a warm surrounding. She was about to got off from bed when Manik came inside with tray of breakfast in his hands and huge smile plastered in his face. Keeping the tray nearby he went and slid away the curtains so that fresh air could enter inside and she can take the view of beautiful green mountains and as expected she smiled shortly looking at the mountains.
.." Welcome to Switzerland Nandini Jee. Sorry aapko uthaya nahi flight kai time. Sote hue ekdum pyaari lagti haina aap toh uthane ka dil nahi hua ( He mumbled and then bit his tongue realizing what he had spoke. Nandu smiled weakly and grabbed the breakfast tray while he sat infront of her adjusting his spectacles )
.." If you have no problem then..you can call me Nandu. Wese bhi haq banta hai aapka. Aur yeh joh mote chasme haina unhe nikaldo. Aapko bilkul suit nahi karta. Itni pyaare aankhe hai..bekar mai chupana kyu ( She mumbled munching her bread while he blushed hard and again adjusted his spectacles smiling like a Idiot )
.." Agar aap itna bol rahe hoh toh. I'll try jee. But usshe pehle apne sad sad mood koh chodo aur sehar ghumne chalo..You'll feel better ( He said and stood up while she nodded and he helped her getting off the bed. She took her clothes and went inside while he walked out closing the door behind )
..After roaming around in trains and exploring the place also Nandini couldn't made up her mood. Manik tried his best cheering her up but in vain. But never ever did he lose his hope. He had made up his mind that he will cure his wife any how. He wanted her to walk again..run again and fly again. He wanted to bloom the flower again which had shattered away with lack of love.
.." Toh kya hua..Nandu jee mujhse pyaar nah karti hoh. Par mai toh karta huna. Bahut pyaar karta hu unshe aur unke khushi kai liye joh bhi hoga karunga. I'll do anything. Chahe joh hoh jaye Manik Malhotra unka saath kabhi nahi chodega ( He mumbled and smiled looking at the stars and went inside. He opened his laptop and searched for the best specialists he could so that he could take Nandini to them)
.." Par in sab kya zaroorat hai. Mujhe nahi jana kahi bhi. If this is my fate then that's it. I've accepted this only ( Nandu mumbled staring outside and holding her favorite novel while Manik sighed and blinked at her )
.." Nandu jee..apne liye nah sahi par mere liye ek try toh kar loh. Miracles hote hai jee. Aapke dil mai umeed bhale nah hoh..mere dil mai toh hai..please maan jao ( He pleaded and after lot of thinking she finally nodded making him smile to the fullest.)
.." Wese..aapse kuch kehna thaa..Can I ( She asked softly while he nodded adjusting his spectacles again )
.." Honestly jab pehli baar Appa nai kaha ki meri Sadi aapse hogi tab mai bilkul khush nahi thi..kyuki apne life partner kai liye joh image banayi thi aap ushme fit nahi thai. You were fat and simple ekdum indoor type it wasn't that ki I hated you..it's just I didn't liked you. Phir jab aap London sai wapas aaye. I was amazed..complete change..tall perfect fit body..dark hairs and eyes..but still I wasn't ready. Because stupid me..mujhe laga Abhay kahi mera wait kar raha hoga. But Appa kai insist par I had to marry you. I liked you're friendly nature Manik. Aapse acha koi insan maine nahi dekha. You were ready to leave me for Abhay par sab ulta hoh gaya. But now I'm bit satisfied that joh hua..soh hua ( She spoked fidgeting with her fingers and continued )
.." Par mai ish rishte koh ek mauka dena chahti hu. I want to re start everything. I promise that I'll try to be a loyal and a good wife. I want to be you're friend..par sayad pyaar kabhi nah kar pau. Kyuki pyaar sai bharosha uth chuka hai mera. Aap samajh rahe haina mai joh kehna chahti hu ( She asked while giving a faint smile he nodded looking at the floor )
.." Jaanta hu jee..Jaanta hu..aur samajh bhi sakta hu. Koi force nahi hai aapke upar Nandu jee. You please take you're time. I'm always there for you ( He confessed sincerely while she smiled placing her hands on him )
..It was night time by now and Nandu was sitting on bed watching her favorite movie and laughing softly. After her movie was over Manik came with a kit in his hand and stood before her
.." Nandu Jee..aapke sone ka time hoh gaya? Doctor nai kaha hai sone time in sab sai aapke pair kai maasil kardu toh it will be a good start. Can I ? ( He asked softly while she nodded hesitantly and lye down while he adjusted the pillow around her gently )
..Pulling up her pajama he started massaging her legs with lots of care and love. She closed her eyes and he started humming a song and small smile crept on her face. Soon she drifted to sleep and he kept on massaging her legs until it was over. He pulled back her pajama and tucked the blanket over her and he himself lye down on floor beside her so that if she could need anything he would be there for her.
.." Nandu Jee..are you sure? I don't have any habit without this spectales ( He mumbled looking at her while she sighed playing with his spectales and throwing it aside while he blinked his eyes at her as she was blurry infront of him )
.." Ishi chashme nai aapke pyaare aankho koh kharab kiya hai. Ab chup chap bethiye aur joh mai kahu wahi kijiye. Okay ( She ordered while he nodded and raised his thumb in air making her laugh softly )
.." Manik aur kitna time lagega aapko. Itna time toh koi ladki bhi nahi lagati jitna aap laga rahe hoh! ( She shouted waiting impatiently for him outside the washroom )
.." Mujhe sharam aa rahi hai Nandu Jee ( He shouted while she tapped her head nodding in disbelief )
.." Mai aapki padoshi ki nahi..aap hi ki biwi hu. Mujhse kya sharmana yaar ( She exclaimed and after some time he came out making her jaw drop a bit )
..The Brown contact lenses were shining in his eyes. He pulled off the sleeves of the Orange blazer which she handed to him. She palmed her mouth in excitement while he ruffled his hair blushing hard.
.." Are waah..aapko dekh kar naa..ek hi cheez karne koh dil kar raha ( With that she blowd the whistle at him and he blushed biting his lips while she made a aww face and pulled his cheeks ruffling his hair with wide smile )
..She had now bid good bye to her wheel chair as Manik had brought stick for her so that she could at least learn to walk again. She had tried several times and after lots of effort she had taken her first two steps.
.." Trust me..you're wasting you're time. Mujhse nahi hoh payega Manik ( She whispered as she collapsed on floor while Manik sighed and knelt before her )
.." Doh kadam chale abhi aap. Doh kadam kaafi hota hai Nandu jee. Dekhna jaldi aap doh hazaar kadam lengi. Prove it you're self. You're not weak. You're not a burden at all. Prove it..You can and you will..trust me ( He said holding her hands and she smiled weakly looking the efforts he was putting for her )
.." I will..par tum hamesha mera saath doge naah yeshe hi. You'll not leave my side ever ( she said and he nodded cupping her left cheek)
.." Yesha kabhi hoh sakta hai ki Manik Nandu Jee ka saath chod deh..never ever ( He spoked and she quietly hid in his embrace while he tapped her back softly )
.." Manik..neend toh bilkul nahi aa rahi hai. Kuch kiziye naa ( She mumbled as Manik was massaging her legs. He scratched his head in confusion and then an idea clicked his mind. He smiled and started massaging her legs while she waited him to utter )
.." Ek story sunata hu aapko. Once there was a little carefree bird who was trapped so that he couldn't fly and live free again ( He started massaging her legs while she carefully listened to him hugging her pillow tight )
..He kept on blabbering about the story and she kept on listening until her eye lids went heavy and she closed her eyes. He finished his story and saw her already drifted to sleep with open mouth. He closed the lid the oil and then lid of her mouth. Tucking the blanket above her he again drifted to sleep lying on the floor beside her.
.." Bhaddi si B-grade movie? Matlab ? ( Manik asked blinking his eyes while Nandu smirked and kept her arms on his shoulder raising her eyebrows )
.." P*** movies nahi samajhte aap. Pata hai first time Navya kai saath dekha thaa jab 12 mai thaa. It was like so yuck! But experience was so funny and awesome. Mujhe phirse dekhna hai..ish baar aapke saath ( She smirked pointing towards him while he gulped his saliva and showed his teeths while she clapped her hands )
.." Mrs.Malhotra you're turn now ( Nurse informed with smile while Manik helped her standing with support of her stick. They walked inside and doctor made her lye down on bed )
.." Nandu jee..aapko joh wish hai..jishme aapke kushi hai woh sab karunga aapke liye. Aap bas theek hoh jao ( Manik mumbled ruffling her hair while she smiled and showed her thumb blinking her eye )
..Manik gasped in horror covering his eyes while Nandu clapped her hands and whistled looking at the movie. Though she was finding weird but she was enjoying the moment.
.." Nandu Jee..mai aur nahi dekh paunga. Wese bhi..aapke maalish ka time hoh gaya. Close it please ( Manik freaked out while Nandu sighed and turned off making him sighed in huge relief )
.." Aap maalish kar karke thak jaoge Manik. I don't think mai kabhi phir chal paungi ( She mumbled looking down while he made her lye down and pulled up her pajama smiling at her )
.." Nah mai thakne wala hu aur aap yeh sab faaltu ki chize sochne wali hai. Agar aapko mujhpe bharosha hai then have patience. Aap pakka theek hoh jayenge ( He said while she blinked and closed her eyes drifting to sleep and he continued his work)
..They stood infront of the church and smiled at each other. Holding her arms he walked inside along with her while she smiled glancing at the church. Once they reached inside they knelt before Jesus and joined their hands )
.." Jesus jee please..Nandu jee ko jaldi theek kardo aur duniya ki shari khushi uhne dedo..mere hisse ka bhi dedo. Unki khushi mai hi meri khushi hai ( He thought and smiled while Nandu opened her eyes and gazed at him lovingly )
.." I don't know. When did I fell in love with him. Sayad yeh hai hi yeshe ki koi bhi unke pyaar mai pad jaye. I know yeh abhi zaroor mere liye hi dua maang rahe honge so meri bhi responsibility hai unke liye maangna. Please fulfill his every wish..always make him happy..shower you're bless upon him always ( She thought and closed back her eyes wiping her tears and smiling weakly )
..It was late night by now and Manik had yet not returned home. Nandu was glancing at the watch every now and then. Her heart beat was running fast and she was in tears by now. She somehow hopped off from her bed with support of her stick and walked out of room. She stared at the stairs and bit her lips. With great difficulty she crossed the first step landing on the second. Taking deep breathe she stepped on third step and was about to go for fourth when her legs fumbled and she felled of stairs with a scream.
.." Kisne kaha thaa aapko sidhiyo par chalne ki..lag gaya na ( Manik scolded band aiding her forehead while she mumbled sorry looking at him )
.." Galti aapki hai..kisne kaha thaa ghar late aane koh. I was so scared ishliye ( She whispered while he sighed and knelt before her holding her hands )
.." Nandu Jee..aap achi tarah sai theek nahi hue ab tak. Please apna dhyaan rakha karo..mai nahi hota toh aap kya karte ( He mumbled and she birsted out in tears looking away from him )
.." Wahi toh mai bol rahi hu..mai kabhi theek nahi paungi sayad. Aap nahi toh sayad. Mai thak chuki hu Manik..mujhse aur nahi hoga ab ( She whispered and lye down closing her eyes while he sighed )
.." Par mujhse toh hoga naa. Aap apna hope chod doh par mai nahi chodne wala Nandu jee. I'll try..try until we'll get success ( He mumbled and pulled off his sleeves massaging her legs smiling to himself )
..Days passed with Manik taking care of her..massaging her legs every night..taking her to every specialist..fulfilling her every wish so that she would be happy in every possible way. Days turned into week and week into months.
..Manik was in market buying the household item's. He was busy checking out the apples when his phone got beeped flashing an unknown number. He received the call and heard a lady from other side.
.." Are you Mr.Malhotra ( She asked softly and he mumbled yes in confusion and she continued )
.." Ohh. You're wife Nandini had met with accident as she was trying crossing the road. She's in the city hospital so if you could make it fast then. She needs you ( With that she disconnected the call and Manik without wasting the second rushed toward the hospital )
..Manik ran through the corriders and finally reached for her ward only to find it empty. He frowned and turned when he heard her voice from behind.
.." Manik mai yaha hoon ( She said while he turned to her. She was standing opposite to him with huge smile taking support of her stick )
.." Sorry..par aapko yeshe jaldi bulane ka koi aur idea nahi tha. So ( She mumbled and dropped her stick. He gasped and was about to run toward her when she showed her hand signalling no )
..Taking her fumbling steps she slowly walked toward him while he widened his eyes in shock. She smiled and walked sweating like hell and holding her legs. Taking the seven steps without stick she reached and felled into his arms
.." Bas itna hi hoh paya..par bina stick yaa wheel chair kai. I've proved Manik..dekha..jaisa tumne kaha..saat kadam hi sahi par khud apne pair par chal toh payi..ab jaldi daur bhi paungi bas tum dena saath mera ( She whispered while he was deprived of words )
..Soon he started crying like a kid wiping his tears and knelt down sniffing badly. She too knelt before him and cupped his face. She tried to calm him down still he was crying badly looking at her.
.." Haww..mujhe laga khushi kai mare pagal hoh jaoge aap. Bache ki tarah roh rahe hoh ( She complaint while he wiped his tears and sniffed looking at her )
.." Aapko koh yeshe chalte hue dekhkar apne aap rona aagaya Nandu Jee. Ab aap pakka dodoge bhi dekhna ( He said holding her hands while she smile nodding and hiding in his embrace )
.." Sab aapki wajah sai aur haa. Ab upar taro koh dekh kar yeh kehne ki zaroorat nahi ki Nandu Jee aapse pyaar nahj karti. Nandu aapke pyaar mai kabka pad gayi aur hamesha karti rahegi. Aap Nandu kai liye kaafi maayne rakhte hoh ( She mumbled while Manik kissed her head and smiled tightening their grip )
.." Aur Aap mere liye jyada maayne rakhte hoh Nandu Jee. Manik loves you very much ( He confessed finally without any fear and she blushed biting her lips. The real gem was right infront of her and she had been digging for coal..but now she had found her real gem and couldn't lost it any sake )

..So done..yeh kafi filmy thaa..but thaa toh sahi..miracle happens if you keep faith and hope yaar. Woh kehte haina..sachi dil sai agar kuch chaho toh puri kaynaat ushe tumse milane ki koshis mai lag jati hai..haa nahi toh.
