Concert day

Fab5 was getting ready in their allotted green room. Nandu and Abhimanyu were checking on the last minute preparations while Maddy was busy attending the guests. Fab5’s parents flew down to Mumbai except Mukti’s and were seated in their places. Abhimanyu’s parents came to cheer especially for Mukti and others. When just half an hour was left, Nandu and Abhimanyu came to the green room to check on Fab5.

Coming there they find Fab5 ‘silently’ engrossed in getting ready. Alya was the first one to notice them. She waves Nandu to come to her.

Alya(worried): Nandu, is my makeup ok? Is it looking odd?

Nandu(assuring): It’s perfect. Stop panicking now. You are going to be the best on stage.

Dhruv(frustrated): Nandu, mera tie nahi ban raha.

She goes towards him and fixes his tie.

Nandu(smiled): Dhruv, remember you are the sanest, calm and composed one among these. Stop being tensed now. Everything’s going to be perfect.

Dhruv gives her a small smile.

Cabir(complained): Nandu, mujhe bhook lag raha hai.

Nandu(chuckles): Bhai, aap ko bhook nahi lag raha. Aapne bas aadha ghanta pehle hi khaya hai. Stop confusing between being tensed and being hungry. And haan, if it’s making you feel any better, Navya is on her way from the airport. She is directly coming here.

Cabir(panicked): Hein? Navya kyun aa rahi hai? Meri band bajegi uske samne. Princess, tu iss se acha mujhe maar hi dalti. Main ab tak zinda kaise hun?

Nandu(glared): Bhai, itne tension main bhi aap ka drama zaroori hai?

Cabir(muttered): Arey woh andar se aa jata hai. Kya karu.

Nandu(confidently): Bhai, Just get me my Cool Cabir Bhai back and trust me you will be the best.

Cabir chuckles at her. Nandu smiles and goes towards Mukti.

Nandu(cupping her cheek): Tumhe bhi koi tension hai?

Mukti(confused): I don’t know. I am just happy, tensed, excited and what not.

Nandu(grinning): Irrespective of whatever you are feeling, Mukti, we are so proud of you. Lady Bheem, rock the stage.

Mukti hugs her tight with a smile. Nandu finds Manik scrolling through his mobile at a distance with a frown on his face. She sighs deeply and goes towards him.

Nandu(softly): Manik?

Manik(rants): Oh God, Nandini. Where the hell were you? Mere phone ka battery khatam ho gaya.

Nandu(rolling her eyes): That was the lamest of reasons among all. Mere paas ab charger nahi hai.

Manik(confused): Nandu, tum…

Nandu(cutting him off): Nahi.

Manik(puzzled): What?

Nandu(declared): Main ab ke ab charger nahi la sakti.

Manik took some time to process that she was teasing him and he glared her.

Manik(stammered): Nandu, I was telling..ki..

Nandu(warned): Before you start with your yesterday’s questions again, let me tell you, you have a concert to perform. Stop over stressing yourself, Manik. Main kahi nahi ja rahi. And you will be the best today.

Manik(whined): Tumne sabko same bola. Mere liye koi special lines nahi hai kya?

Nandu(chuckles): Rock the world, rockstar. We all are waiting to see you achieve your dream. So many hopes are on you today, Manik. Bass bacha lena sabko. Remember, you are the Manik Malhotra. You can’t fall weak. Not today.

Manik just nods. A person comes to call them to perform.

Nandu(smiled proudly): So my best people, this isn’t hard for you. You all have done this previously. You are doing this again. This is your dream. Go just achieve everything for yourself, for our families, for our friends. (cutely) And haan, I know you guys will become famous after few hours. Kya uske baad bhi apni iss band manager ko yaad rakhoge and ek autograph if possible?

Fab5 smiled at her attempts to make them feel better. They felt blessed to have her. Giving each other a glance they pounced upon her together for a hug, squeezing her in between. Breaking the hug, they smirked at her.

Nandu(scared): Why are you guys smirking? Am I in trouble?

Fab5(screamed together): Nandu, that’s our favorite autograph for our favorite person.

She grinned widely. They all left to stage except Manik, who had to go after few minutes according to his entry.

Manik(whispered): Nandu..

Nandu(interrupted): Manik, I know..

Manik(holding her hand): Listen to me, please.

Nandu nods.

Manik(hopefully): Just stay there in front of me till the concert ends. Your presence makes me calm. I need you today the most.

Nandu(assured): Manik, I will be just in front of you along with Abhimanyu and Maddy.

Manik(staring into her eyes): Just be there.

He hugs her tight and places a kiss on her forehead before leaving the room after giving a brief hug to Abhimanyu. Abhimanyu who was silently standing there since the start was proud of his sister. She found him staring at her and raised an eyebrow.

Abhi(smiled): I am just so proud of the way you handled each and every person there.

Nandu(nervous): Bhai, but I am tensed. This concert should go well. I can’t lose all their happiness.

Abhi(dramatically): tabhi main sochu where’s my Nandu. Un sabko lagta hai, you are calm and composed. But I know tu kitna stress leti hai aur kitni jaldi tension mein aa jati hai. Bas mere hi samne tera yeh asli chehra samne aata hai. And people think I am cruel. I am..

Nandu(whines): Bhai, please na.

She hugs him to which he smiles and caresses her hair.

Abhi(cooed): Nandu, nothing will go wrong. You know right, they are the best. They will be the best.

They go and sit in their reserved places.

Shocked. Scared. Overwhelmed. Confused, was all Nandu felt, feeling the constant gaze of Manik on her, throughout the song. Her promise of just staying in front of Manik till the concert ends kept her rooted to her place. Just when the song completed, in order to compose her losing senses, she told Abhi about going to the washroom and left from there.

The confession is half done. Proposal through songs/the album. This is the reason for Manik being nervous/scared.
