THERE IS A SMALL CHANGE IN THE SCHEDULE OF MANAN WEDDING. IN A HURRY, I SKIPPED MANY IMPORTANT RITUALS TO BE DONE BEFORE HALDI.. I WANTED TO PERFORM ALL THE RITUALS FOR MANAN.. SO THE MARRIAGE CEREMONY IS GONNA POSTPONE FOR 4 MORE DAYS.. HOPE YOU WILL UNDERSTAND..!!!

Kangna Bandhana Ceremony

This is the first ritual performed on the morning of the wedding. (BUT IN THIS CASE, ITS NOT ON MANAN MARRIAGE DAY.. THERE ARE STILL 3 MORE DAYS FOR MANAN MARRIAGE..) A sacred thread called the mouli is tied on the wrist of the bride and the groom separately at their respective homes by a Hindu priest. They have to keep it on their wrist as it is considered to be a good-luck charm and wait until it falls off.

both manan parents performed this ritual at their respective places with lots of fun and leg pullings..

As soon as this ceremony got finished, everyone gathered at MURTHY MANSION for the CHOODA CHADHANA Ceremony...

Chooda Chadhana

If you translate the nomenclature of this ceremony literally to English, it would be "placing bangles". This is a ceremony which takes place following the kangna bandhana ceremony. A havan or a sacred fire is lit and the elderly male members from the side of the bride sit around the fire. The eldest maternal uncle of the bride plays a vital role and he also takes part in the havan.

The maternal uncle or mama and his wife would gift a set of 21 bangles – red/maroon and white/ivory in color. Nowadays, since ivory is becoming rare, brides also wear plastic bangles in different hues like pink, purple and many other colors. But before sliding it onto her wrists, the bangles are blessed by all the elders present.

The bangles are purified in a liquid mixture containing milk and rose petals. The mama has to put the bangles on the wrist of the bride. But the head and face of the bride is covered with a white scarf at that time as she is not supposed to see the bangles at the time when it is put on her wrists. At the time of the ritual, flower petals are showered on the bride.

The mama of the bride also gifts the bride a lehenga-choli/sari which she wears at the time of the wedding. It is expected that the bride would wear the set of chooda for a minimum period of 40-45 days.

Nandu's mom dont have any own sibiling.. So one of her cousins and his wife performed the ritual..

After that in the evening, the KALIDE CEREMONY started..

Kalide Ceremony

This is also a related ceremony. The sisters and friends of the bride tie umbrella shaped figures called kalide to the chooda of the bride. They are red in color, a color which signifies fertility and a happy conjugal life and coconut-shaped, signifying prosperity at the home of the newly-weds.

The kalide is often encrusted with dried betel nuts, dry fruits or coconut. There is a fine traditional practice of the bride shaking her kalide tied to the chooda worn on her arms and young unmarried girls stand beneath it. It is believed that if a part of the kalide or a leaf or a nut or a fruit falls on her head, then she would be the next one to get married.

I think it is pretty similar to the belief in Christian weddings that if any one of the bridesmaid or a young unmarried female guest manages to catch the wedding flower of the bride when she throws it into the air after her marriage when she is leaving with her husband, she would be the next lucky one to get married!

When Nandu shook her kalide tied to the chooda, it fell on Alya.. Instead ofAlya, Dhruv started blushing.. How can cabir miss the chance to tease him.. So he came up with another teasing session with DHRULYA..

Everyone was completely exhausted with the continuous rituals on the same day.. So they hit the bed early than usual days..

The next morning, its the most interesting ritual.. "HALDI"

Haldi ceremony

This ceremony takes place on the morning of the wedding in general. (but here its 2 days before marriage as marriage is gonna take place in MANGALORE as I said earlier, the wedding will be in Tamilian style..) 

The bride is sat down facing four lamps or diyas. This ritual is quite symbolic. It is believed that the light emanating from the diyas would always keep the glow or the radiance on the face of the bride. The female members of the house would then apply a paste of turmeric, sandalwood, rosewater and mustard oil on the visible parts of the body of the bride. This paste acts like a scrub or cleansing agent and gives a shine to the face and hands of the bride.

The same ceremony is also performed at the house of the groom and all elderly female members of his clan apply the paste to the body of the groom. There is a lot of laughter and fun. Assembled guests also tease the bride/groom. The ladies also anoint each other's forehead and face with the leftover paste. The young unmarried boys and girls also run-around and apply the paste on each other's face hoping to get married.

Finding everyone busy in the arrangements of the next ritual, Manik sneaked into Nandu's room.. Not her room actually he entered her washroom because he already knew that within minutes she will be here for shower.. And Manik malhotra have some wild intensions as his Romantic mood is on..

As expected she entered the washroom after 10 minutes..

She locks the door and turns to witness the most horrible/hot sight.. Manik was standing near the mirror in just a towel and rubbing off the turmeric from his face..

Nandu (SHock)- Tum...??

Manik- Hello Murthy..!!

he started moving towards her and she was still in shock...

Nandu- what are you doing here..?

she asked folding her hands near her chest..

Manik- you know, my shower is not working.. And look at me.. fully decorated with that Turmeric and all.. So came here to take a shower.. 

Nandu- You could have used the other washrooms in your place but why my place..

Manik- Wifey.. Kya tera.. Kya mera.. Sab kuch humara hai..

Nandu- Hey, I'm not your wife yet okay..?

Manik- You're already 99.5 % my bride.. Just a few more rituals, you're all mine..!!

Nandu- Hmm...

she blushes..

Manik comes near her and entangles his fingers with hers and locks his eyes with her..

She was lost in his brown chocolaty eyes, he pulled off her saree pallu making her gasp with astonishment..

Nandu- What are you doing..??

Manik- Lets take shower together baby..!!

Nandu- Mr.Manik Malhotra.. Sadhi abhi tak huyi nahi hai.. So keep patience..

she replied while snaking her hands around his neck..

he pulled her with a jerk by her waist on which she bangs on his broad chest..

Manik- Ms. Murthy..!! What if I dont obey your orders..!!

Nandu- Then it wont take me much time to call off this wedding.. I dont think you support this idea of mine..

Manik pulls her even closer and speaks huskily near near lips..

Manik- Challenge accepted..

Nandu(stammering)- Ma.. Ni.. KK.. 

Manik- hmm..

Nandu- I'm... I am.. Ser.. Serious...

Manik- When did I say you're not..!!

Nandu cant take it any more.. She hugs him hiding her blush.. Manik smirks looking at her..

Manik- Nandu..!!

Nandu didnt speak..

Manik- Listen na,,

Nandu- Hmm..

Manik- Actually I've come here to share an important thing..

She moves a little bit and asks..

Nandu- what..?

MAnik- I was totally confused..

Nandu- Confused about what Mannu..??

Manik- Wait.. Touch any of these fingers..

he asked showing his right hand..

She was confused at first.. But she selected the ring finger..

Nandu- This one..

She pointed at his ring finger and spoke..

Manik- I was thinking of the same.. Hamara soch kitna miltha hai.!!

He replied excitedly..

Nandu- Would you mind explaining me..?

he turned his hand so that his palm is visible to her..

She grabs his hand and found his fingers filled with some destinations ..

Nandu- Where are you planning to go now at the time of marriage.. HAve you gone nuts..?

Manik- Relax baby.. Its not only ME.. We're going together..

Nandu- We..??

Manik- Yeah.. you and ME..

Nandu- Our wedding..???

MAnik- Idiot...!! Its our honeymoon destinations..!!

Nandu blushes listening the word "honeymoon"..

Manik- Stop blushing my girl.. You know I'm damn excited.. Is liye abhi se booking kar raha hai.. Sadhi hothe hi hum Honeymoon pe nikhelenge.. 

NAndu- But..

Manik- No more arguments..!!!

Nandu- Okay fine.. As your work is done.. Can you do the honors of vacating my washroom..

Manik- No na.. I just completed my half work.. Asali work toh abhi bakhi hai..

he said pressing her lips with his fingers.. She pushed his hand away..

Nandu- Dont expect high Malhotra.. Kuch nahi milne wala hai tumhe..

Manik- Kitni unromantic ho tum..

Nandu- Kya..?

Manik- kya. kya.. Always ready to break our moment... Agar aise hi chaltha raha toh.. We'll have our kids after 20 years.. Uff...!!!!

She too joined him and the kiss turned into a passionate one followed the hot shower.. (Dont think wild one.. Its just a casual shower.. STOP IMAGINING HIGH MY DEAR READERS.. PICTURE ABHI BAKHI HAI..)

Ghara Ghardoli

This immediately follows the haldi ceremony. After the haldi is scrubbed off from the body of the bride, she accompanies her siblings and close friends to a nearby temple. A pitcher full of holy water is then poured on her. After this, she enters the inner sanctum of the temple and prays to the reigning deity of the temple and asks for His/Her blessings. She then comes back to her home and takes a full and proper shower and starts getting ready for the main events of the evening.

Ghara Ghardoli also takes place at the residence of the groom. In his case, however, his sister-in-law usually pours the pitcher full of water on him and he usually doesn't need to visit a temple. After he returns from the shower, he is given a regal, resplendent dress to wear in the evening.
