everyone clapped in joy..

Manik- what the hell.. waha mera engagement shuru hone wala hai.. aur aap log aaraam se betke match dekh raha hai..!

he switched off the tv in irritation..

everyone got pissed off..

Cabir- why did you switch off the tv..??

Manik- are you out of your mind..?? today its a very big day for me.. and it meant nothing to all of you..

Manik glares at cabir..

THE ENGAGEMENT VENUE

Engagement is a significant part of a Punjabi wedding. The bride's family visits the groom's family with gifts to confirm the engagement... BUT FOR A CHANGE, THE MANAN'S engagement is held IN A DIFFERENT VENUE INSTEAD OF BRIDE'S HOME.. 

The malhotra's along with manik friends came to the venue and were warmly welcomed by the murthy's..

Sanju- manik beta..!! tum bahuth shona lag rahe ho..

Manik- thanks aunty..!!

Sanju- aunty nahi..! mom bolo..

Manik(smiles)- wow promotion..!! sure mom..

MAnik- now stop this rights argument.. and let me clear.. now i've the complete right on your princess.. she's mine..  She's my princess now.. so no arguments anymore..

he made them clear with his statement..

they both looked at each other and compromised..

Sanju- uff..!! you both are difficult to handle than the small kids..

raj and yash smiled and side hugged amms.. she ruffled their hairs...

Manik agreed with her giving a wide smile..

she nodded and both of them left towards nandu's room..

Nandu is  so much excited to begin her new life... The girls never left a chance to pull her leg..

she's almost ready but didnt wear any jewellery..

Navya- nandu..! your touch up is done.. now you can wear these ornaments..

Nandu- nahi...!! mujhe nahi pehen na hai..!

Alya- why..??? you dont  want this engagement..??

Nandu- shut up alya..! its not like that..

Mukthi- then why are you acting like a child.. wear them na.. everyone must have come..

Nandu- i dont care.. I'll wait until aunty comes..

Navya- now what will aunty do with these ornaments..??

Nandu- she very well knows what suits me the best..!

Alya- hum hai na.. we'll help you..

NAndu- no.. i never compromise with the ornaments thing..! I never wear heavy jewellery and nyo aunty perfectly knows which one will look good on me..!!

Mukthi- ab nyonika aunty ka wait karna padega..!!

Nyo- no need bacho..! i'm already here..

Nyonika and sanju comes to them..

Nandu greeted her lovingly and hugs her..

said breaking the hug...

Nyo- aww... sorry nandu.. lets match the jewellery with your attire..!

Nyo pulls out a diamond necklace from her bag and show it to nandu...

Nyo- how is it..??

Alya takes that neck piece into her hands and adored it..

Alya- its indeed the perfect match with her attire aunty..

Navya- yeah.. nandu is absolutely right..! you very well know her taste aunty..

Nyonika and nandu smiles..

Nyo- come on.. let me make you wear this..

Nandu excitedly turned her back towards nyo.. and nyo placed the necklace around her neck..

she went near the mirror and smiled widely...

Nandu(surprised)- kaun..??

Nyo- yes.. he selected this himself almost shopping after a 4 long hours..

Alya- aww... how sweet..!!

Sanju- sagaai ka time ho raha hai..! chalo sab niche humara wait kar rahe honge..!!

Mukthi- sabse jyadha i guess Manik will be dying to meet her..

Nandu- stop teasing na..

A BRIEF EXPLANATION ABOUT SAGAAI:

Before the wedding the sagai ceremony is held, in which a forehead mark is applied. 

The bride's family visits the groom's family bringing gifts, the paste for the tikka mark and a

silver tray with a few grains of rice and saffron in a small silver bowl, 14 dried dates (chuharey)

wrapped in silver foil and a coconut wrapped in gold leaf. The bride's father applies the mark to

the groom's forehead, blesses him and gives him some money. The bride's family receives 

baskets of seven dried fruits: almonds, cashewnuts, dried dates, coconut pieces, raisins, dried 

apricots (khurman) and puffed (phoolmakhana). The tikka ceremony may be combined with the 

engagement . First, the girl is draped with a chunni (stole), which is usually very ornate. In some 

families this chunni is a family heirloom, passed down from generation to generation. She is also

presented with jewellery, which her mother and sister-in-law help her wear. A tiny dot of henna 

paste (mehndi) is applied to her palm for good luck, and the function is sealed with the 

exchange of rings. Everyone present congratulates the couple by feeding them sweets.

he started wiping his fake tears.. Manik hit him with his elbow..

Cabir- ouch..!!

Manik- aww.. does that hurt cabir..??

everyone chuckles while cabir glares at them..

Meanwhile Nandu comes to the engagement hall followed by the girls..

Manik's jaw dropped looking at his beautiful bride..

he's too not looking less than a Greek god..! 

One of the nandu's cousin, her name is  swetha, spoke..

 Swetha- akka..!! he's more than handsome..!

Nandu blushed..

Alya- akka means..???

Swetha- In our south, we address our elder sister as akka..!

Alya- oh.. good.. 

Adithi- waise akka..! jheejhu ko thang karna allowed hai na..

Navya- yeah..!! I pity manik...! he has to bear all of you..

the cousins giggle..

Ragini- girls.. lets meet our handsome jheejhu..

he came out of his trance and looked at them in confusion..

Swetha- hello jheejhu..!!

Manik- sorry..!! do i know you..?

Adithi- hello.. we're nandu akka's cousins.. I'm adithi.. she's swetha and she's Ragini..

she introduced all of them..

he smiled in return and felt a little awkward...
