Manik Pov.

She left me alone to think about each and everything as I sat on steps of her porch face palming myself.

I was ashamed of being such an ungrateful person. I have being so mean and cruel to her that she doesn't trust me anymore.

I deserve every bit of her unkind words and hatred that she has now towards me.

But definitely there is something which she is holding back and not ready to share.

I should have listen to her that day. She sounded upset but still I had to behave like a moron.

My anger towards myself was interrupted by someone keeping a hand over my head.

Looking behind I saw her mother standing as she moved her hand in my hair loving with a slight smile.

Maya: Beta you should take some rest. You must be tried.
She said calmly waiting for my response.

Man: I am fine aunty. Don't worry.
I replied rubbing my face with both hands.

I was indeed tried but sleep was the thing on my mind for now.

Maya: You look upset. All is good na with Nandini ?
She asked waiting for my answer.

Man: I don't know. She was not ready to take out her tests so I just....
I didn't complete shaking my head, sighing I continued again.

Man: We will get to know the exact problem by tomorrow evening hopefully. I will collect her reports from hospital.
I said smiling at her while she scanned my face.

Maya: And the other thing, other than her health I meant your relation with her.
She said sitting next to me while I looked away.

Maya: I know there is something more to her coming here all of a sudden and my doubt have become clear when you too are here now. What's wrong tell me ? What is everyone hidding from me ?
She asked waiting for my answer.

Man: We have some issues and misunderstanding going on between us. Nothing to worry about. It will get sorted out soon.
I sighed looking at her with assurance.

Maya: My daughter love's you alot Manik. Please don't break her heart.
She mumbled with tears making me numb.

Man: I won't, trust me.
I nodded while getting up to move in, now it's time to talk with my wife.

Nandini Pov.

Helplessness is a feeling that kills you.

My head was hammering with pain while my eyes had a waterfall which was not ready to stop.

For what was I crying that's a big question mark ?

Pulling my hair I threw a pillow away as I search for medicines in my bag.

Until he entered.

Ignoring him I gulped down three bitter tablets as I walk to bathroom, to have bath.

That will help to lessen the pain.

He kept looking at me until he stood in my way.

Man: Tell me what were you going to say that day.
He asked standing infront of me while I frowned.

Nan: You will get to know tomorrow so now wait.
I said gritting my teeths with annoyance.

Man: Almost one month old news....Nandini please I can't wait for tomorrow tell me now. What's wrong with you ? Why are you having these headache, what are those tablets which you had now Please tell me it's not something bad right ?
He asked with panick holding my shoulder while I looked away.

Nan: There is no one here Manik so you don't have to pretend as if you care. Just ignore me like always you have done. Walk out on me, insult me, humiliate me or moreover keep on calling me a gold digger. That's what you think about me right ?
I shouted with tears while he looked away with guilt.

Man: I am sorry for all that Nandini. I wasn't thinking right. I was doing that to take out my frustration Nandu I didn't mean a single thing.
He begged holding my hand while I simply jerked them away.

Nan: People tell the truth when they are angry or drunk so I don't believe you when you say that you didn't meant anything. I am not a gold digger and whatever is wrong with me I will fix it myself.
I said shoving him away getting inside the bathroom.

Man: Wait....
He said pulling me back while looking straight in my eyes he said

Man: You are not any way near to all that Nandini. And I am not pretending or doing this out of some gain. I mean when I say you mean world to me now Nandu. I am sorry and I mean it. I am ready for all your anger and resentment but please don't let my stupidity affect your health don't let things go out of hand Nandu we have a son too remember that he need you.
He said cupping my face while his thumb caress my cheeks lovingly and all I could do is stare in those mesmerising brown golden orbs.

Nan : It's too late.
I mumbled moving away as I came in my sense while he holded my hand again.

Man: No, sweetheart it's not too late. I am still holding on this bond, please trust me for once. Just let me in.... tell me everything don't hold back anything now Nandu please.
He pleaded while I could simply stare at him with tears.

Nan: What will you do even if I tell you everything. It won't lessen my pain Manik.
I cried holding his shirt while he holded my hands.

Man: It will, I will do anything for you. Everything to get you back Nandini. I promise.
He assured kissing my forehead while I closed my eyes as we joined our heads together.

It felt peace, calm but the silence was just before the storm one which sent shivers down my spine.

Nan: Let me go Manik.
I said pulling my hands away as he holded near his heart.

Man: Nandini stop being stubborn and just tell me God dammit. Why are you making things difficult ???
He shouted like always getting impulsive while I shook my head as a sarcastic laugh felt my lips.

Nan: You proved your point of being a manipulative beast. So go to hell.
I yelled at him pushing him away while anger took over me again.

I don't need him....

Man: Fine, do whatever you want I am not giving up on us so easily Nandu. Show this anger, stubbornness, madness but at the end of the day you too know how much you love me and need me. And I am ready to wait till death to make sure your guards come down. Call me a beast or monster whatever but I will figure out stuff now on myself before tomorrow. Trust me. Because I am not leaving your sight henceforth not even for minute. Manik Malhotra is a man of words you too know this my sweet wife.
He said smirking as I stared at him.

He walked out of the room while I stood there thinking what he would do ?

Until he came back carrying his luggage and started unpacking it.

While I stood confuse frowning at him and mouthed out the most stupid words.

Nan: How will you find out things by unpacking your luggage ?
I said crossing my arms while he looked at me as if I grew two heads until a smile broke on his lips as he let out a chuckle.

His smile of infectious and so beautiful.

Taking his track pants he walked pass me and said.

Man: Not by unpacking my luggage honey but by having a hot smoothie bath. I need my muscle to relax.
He said kissing my cheeks making me red as a blush crept making shivers run all along my body.

I tried my best to give him a stern look as I glared

Nan: For what I am standing here since when.....I am having a bath so step aside.
I said trying to pass him.

While he was already taking out his shirt making my eye wide in shock.

Man: I don't mind if you join me sweetheart. Infact I will be more than pleased and happy.
He winked while my mouth was open wide as I looked away with embarrassment.

Man: Moreover it will save time, water, energy, what say ?
He said showing me the way in while I face palmed myself.

Nan: You are so shameless.
I said with angry face as my stomach form knots.

He still have same effect on me what he had from start.

While he laughed out making me smile too.

Nan: Get lost.
I said slamming the door for him while I could still hear his laugh making me bite my lips to stop blushing more.

Moving to his luggage I started unpacking his stuff for him eventually making place for his clothes in my cupboard.

As usually they were stuffed with Naman favourite chocolates and some games which made me roll my eyes.

He is back with his tactics to spoil him and pamper him to no extent.

Taking them out while grumbling something caught my eyes.

Our wedding album !!!!

Why did he bring this here ?

I was caught off guards when he step out wearing just his tracks pants as he wipe his hair.

Man: Pass my shirt.
He said without looking at me as he was busy admiring his hair like always.

He was so obsessed by them that he could stand for hours infront of mirror.

Sighing I picked up some random t-shirt as I walk to him still carrying that album.

Man: Thanks sweetheart.
He said extra sweetly while I was getting annoyed now.

Nan: What's this ?
I asked showing him the album while he looked at my hand.

Nan: Why are you carrying this around ?
I asked again while he tried to snatch it from my hand as I played around moving in other hand smirking at him behind my back.

I love to annoy him but he smells so good.

The scent was same as it used to be before all over the years.

My thoughts were interrupted by his angry voice.

Man: Nandini why did you touch my stuff ?
He lunged out grabbing the album angrily from me atlast.

Nan: Because I thought you wanted things to get back normal between us. Like those days when I didn't had to ask before touching your stuff.
I said looking away as he sighed pulling me towards him resting his hand on my waist.

Man: You need to rest. Stop thinking stupid things you can touch whatever you want but not my wedding album.
He said making me glared at him.

Nan: It's mine wedding album too okay so stop being arrogant.
I said pushing him away as I walked to bathroom.

While I knew he was smiling looking at my way.

That's a rare site to see.

Manik Pov.

She walked past me while I waited for her closed the door behind.

After I knew she was gone, grabbing her hand bag I emptied it on bed as I went through her stuff.

There were five medicines bottles and many other medicines packets.

But my smart wife had taken out all labels attached to them and boxes while on packets she had cancel names with marker.

Making me throw them away in frustration my doubt were getting more and more strong.

The issue behind her health was something big.

I didn't wanted to think for the worse possibility now.

Sighing I search for prescription to get to know the names but to my bad luck I didn't find any.

Her phone lied on the bedside which gain my attention.

Without thinking I picked it up only to find it death.

Serching for her charger I rushed out from the room as I knew she would be out any minute.

I didn't care to put things back in her bag.

As I went in Naman room I found him smiling brightly at me.

He ran to hug me while I picked him up ruffling his hair kissing his forehead I carried him near the bed.

While he kissed my cheeks in return.

Naman: I missed you Papa.
He gave me his million dollar smile.

Man: I missed you more buddy. I am so happy to see you son.
I said kissing his hand while he hugged me back.

Putting Nandini phone on charge I waited for it to turn on.

Till then Naman talk to me telling me everything that I missed.

Naman : I met Riya and Rahul and mukti aunty too. Rahul was so naughty papa he was pulling my hair until Riya wouldn't go and tell aunty.
He said laughing while I sat taking him in my lap playing with his ears they were so soft and kept caressing his hair.

Man : Then what else you did...
I encouraged him to tell me more while he kept on and on talking making me happy.

After he was done talking and laughing I took Nandini phone trying to switch it on as it turned on I sighed in relief.

I will definitely get something from here.

Man: Naman will you go and tell mumma to make coffee for me.
I told him who nodded going out but then turned again.

Naman: Papa, can I go out to play for sometime.
He asked with hope timidly while I nodded

Man: Sure but come before it gets dark.
I smiled, this was new to me.

I have never given permission for things like this which made me think about these stuffs.

I was so busy with work and some useless stuff that I lost beautiful movement with my son which I regret now.

Taking Nandini's mobile.

I went through her recent chats which she had not seen yet.

One name boiled my blood and maximum messages were from him.

That was the only man I ever heard about and how could I forget his name.

Aakaash Joshi she had named with Joker in brackets.

I cringed my eyebrows.

Gritting my teeths I open the chat and went throught them frowning.

Joker: Nandini where have you disappeared suddenly ?

Are you okay ?

Call me back.

And many such message until I saw the recent one three days back that gain my attention.

I saw your reports, how could you hid such a big thing from us Nandini. Please for once message me or call back.

3.30 pm

I had words with Dr Arora she said if you don't start the treatment soon we will lose our chances to save you Nandini.

This is life and death stop being stupid. Come back.

Nandini this is last chance message me or call orelse I will have to call your parents.

The more I read, the more I feared.

My hands shivered as I went to his next message and the words was enough to wipe away land from my feet.

Nandini you will have to start your chemo as soon as possible.

I was numb after reading that, no it's not possible.

I felt my eyes burning as I shivered more staring at the message.

No ways she can't....No

I pulled my hair in frustrated while more tears blur my site.

And then she entered carrying cup of coffee.

I looked at her with continuous tears flowing.

No she can't....it can't happen to her.

Nan: Manik what's wrong ?
She asked moving to me while I showed her the message and pulled her hands as she stood as close as possible to me.

Man: Tell me it's lie. This man is wrong. Tell me Nandini you don't have....tell me it's lie.
I shouted on her like lunatic while she looked away.

Man: Nandini say something. What has happened to you please.
I begged cupping her cheeks as I made her look towards me and found her too crying.

Nan: It's true Manik. I am dying. I have Leukemia.
She said making me move away with jerk as she cried covering her mouth.

My head was spinning and all was going blur.

Her words stricked my heart painfully while I cried falling on my knees.

Man: Please don't give me such a big punishment Nandini. I don't want to lose you. I love you... please promise me you won't leave me now or ever.
I cried holding her hands as I felt on her feets helplessly.

Resting my head on her hand I cried.

Death would be more easy.

She doesn't deserve this not this much pain.

I can't think of not having her around me.
