Min Yoongi

"Yoongi, you can't just attack every drunk idiot that hits on Soomi," Hoseok chided, referring to the previous night's events. I looked away from the pot of soup in front of me and over to him, Jungkook, and Jimin sitting on the couch.

"Oh, I know that, or else I'd be kicking your ass on a daily basis," I snapped.

"Hey, I am neither drunk nor an idiot."

"I beg to disagree on the latter."

Jungkook audibly attempted to stifle a laugh as I continued speaking.

"Besides, I have to be careful because we have no clue who the real culprit is. And whose fault might that be?"

"Trust me, if you were in charge of the investigation, you'd understand this isn't my fault," Hoseok defended.

"Mmmhm, sure."

"Fine. I'm heading out to investigate."

"Wait, don't forget you have to be at Soomi's recording studio later," I reminded him as he was almost out the door. He simply grunted in response, clearly in a bad mood.

"Oh, and Hoseok, I could put in a few more hours investigating with you whenever I'm not busy," Jungkook offered.

"No thanks. I'd rather not work with you two any more than necessary," Hoseok said before slamming the door shut.

"Man, what a bitch," Jungkook muttered. "He complains about the work, so what do I do? Offer help, but nooo working with me is too awful to even think about."

Jimin lightly chuckled as I proceeded to taste the soup.

It's perfect.

"Hey Jimin, could you give Soomi some of this later? It's for her hangover. Oh, and you might have to remind her about work today. She probably doesn't remember."

"Sure, but where are you gonna be?"

"I have some errands to run and, well, you said it's Soomi's birthday tomorrow..." I hoped no other explanation was necessary, but Jimin didn't seem satisfied with my answer. "...so I was thinking of getting her some things."

"No way! Is big, bad Yoongi getting soft?" Jungkook teased.

"Haha, very funny," I deadpanned, "but this isn't a big deal."

"Not a big deal? I never thought I'd see the day Min Yoongi go out of his way to be sweet to another human being."

"I'm not going out of my way for anything. It's in my best interest to cheer her up."

"Excuses, excuses," Jungkook sang.

"I don't know what could possibly cheer her up though," Jimin chimed in, "I mean, I even canceled the big party. She probably won't be up to being around so many people."

"Something small then, some celebration's still in order, don't you think?" Jungkook asked.

"How about you two plan something while I'm out then," I said. The two nodded at me.

"Your little elves are on it, Santa." Jungkook grinned widely.

"Oh, shut up. I'm leaving."

Park Soomi

I groaned in annoyance, throwing a pillow over my head because of the knocking at my door. The sound only amplified the pounding in my head.

"Soomi?" the voice gently spoke. I peeled the pillow off my face slowly, squinting from the light shining through the window. Jimin walked towards me with a bowl in his hands. "It's hangover soup."

The mention of a hangover made me realize why I felt so sluggish. I could only imagine the kind of mess I was right now: puffy red eyes and hair like a bird's nest.

"Thanks, did Jungkook make it?"

"Hey!" he feigned indignation. "I'm the one who brought it. Why do you assume it was Jungkook?"

"Ugh, Jimin, keep your voice down," I grumbled, grabbing the bowl from his hands, "and don't act like you're offended. We both know you can't cook."

Jimin chuckled, bringing a hand up to playfully ruffle my hair.

"Yeah, I know," he said, "but it was Yoongi, actually." I was surprised. That was sweet of him, I guess. "Speaking of Yoongi, he told me what happened yesterday. Is my baby sis alright?"

"Not really," I admitted.

"Aww, come here." He pulled me into a side hug, my head resting on his shoulder. "I never really liked that guy anyway." I let out a pained laugh.

"You were the one who introduced him to me, you idiot."

"In my defense, I didn't think the two of you would date. I guess good business partner doesn't always mean a good partner."

"Guess not."

"I'm sorry I brought that asshole into your life."

"Don't apologize. It's that jerk's fault. But I loved that jerk. What can I do about that?"

Not just loved, still love.

He gave me a pitiful smile while rubbing circles on my back.

"Drink your soup, Soomi. You're gonna need to feel better before going to work."

Wait, work?

"Right, of course." I maintained the smile on my face as Jimin exited the room.

The moment he was out of sight, my smile vanished, replaced instead with confusion. I frantically grabbed my phone, checking my messages.

Shit. Seokjin wants to record today? But I didn't finish the song.

The text soon triggered flashbacks of the previous night to come flooding back. I widened my eyes in horror as the memory of my conversation with Yoongi resurfaced.

No way did I say all those things to him...

Oh, who am I kidding?

I face-planted into my pillow, letting out a muffled scream of frustration as I kicked my legs around in embarrassment. How could I dump all of my issues on him like that?

There was no way I could face him after that.

Yep, it's settled, I'm never leaving this room again.

One shower and two outfit changes later, I reluctantly left my room, acting like I didn't just have a complete mental breakdown moments before. I prepared myself to face Yoongi, not wanting to die on the spot from embarrassment.

But walking into the living room, the only person present was Jungkook.

I've never even been alone with him.

"Hey, where is everyone?" I cautiously asked.

"Yoongi and Hoseok are out right now. Jimin's in the shower," he answered. "We'll be on our way when he's finished."

I nodded in acknowledgment before awkwardly sitting down a few spaces away from him. I was surprised to hear him continue talking.

"Hey, so, I know about what happened with your boyfriend," he spoke carefully.

"Great, does everyone know?" I asked, feeling my cheeks heat up in embarrassment.

"Yoongi and Jimin didn't tell me or anything," he hastily tried to explain. "I accidentally overheard them talking. Also, Hoseok doesn't know if that helps."

"Yeah, actually, it does."

"Well, anyway, I just wanted to tell you that it gets better."

"How would you know?"

"Let's just say, I know from personal experience."

"Really? Just...how'd you move on?"

"Well, I technically haven't been with anyone since—"

"Oh, great, so I'm never gonna find anyone again."

"No, wait, that's not what I meant!" Jungkook panicked. "I just learned that I'm happier on my own."

"I guess I'd be okay on my own too, but this all just really sucks, you know? It's scary...losing someone so important to you and not knowing if the void that person left could ever be filled again."

I bit my tongue, suddenly realizing all the things I was saying to this guy I barely even knew. I broke eye contact, worried I made him uncomfortable.

Damn it, Soomi, even sober you don't know when to shut up.

To my surprise, he shot me a gentle smile.

"Come on, a pretty girl like you? You'll have all the boys falling head over heels." I smiled at Jungkook's compliment. "And I'm sure even with all the jerks out there, one of the nice ones will come to you."

"Thanks," I said with a sheepish grin.

The next thing I knew, we were talking and laughing like old friends. It was at this moment I understood how Jimin and Jungkook hit it off so quickly. There was just something about Jungkook that made him comfortable to be around.

We were so lost in conversation, I almost didn't notice Jimin entering the room.

"Oh, good, you're ready," Jimin said. "We'll drop you off. Hoseok's waiting for you there."

"Why Hoseok? Where's Yoongi?" I asked, a bit puzzled.

"He's busy," Jungkook quickly answered as the two ushered me towards the door.

Honestly, I wasn't sure which would have been worst: facing Yoongi after last night, or dealing with Hoseok's flirty ass.

But I knew one thing for sure.

With everything going on with Taehyung, being around Hoseok was not what I needed right now.

Sorry this week's updates will be more like filler chapters as the story sets up for some major events to come.

But I hope it was still enjoyable to see some relationships develop apart from Soomi and Yoongi's!
