Big Mama was walking through the main lobby checking things off on her clipboard. Leonardo was napping on her front in a pink and plum colored baby bjorn.

(Jack, Danny, & Suzie) "Mama! Mama! Trick or treat!" 

She looked up from her checklist to see Jack and Danny in matching pirate clothes and Suzie in an outfit nearly identical to the one she always wore. Their harmonization was perfect. 

(Big Mama) "Beg pardon? Trick or treat?" 

She had never heard of more bizarre words in such a fashion. She loved the whimsicality, but felt so out of place.

(Caleb) "Mum, hey. Are you taking Leo Trick or treating?"

(Big Mama) "Hello Caleb, Abigail, Samantha. What is this trick or treating?" 

(Abigail) "It's a holiday for the humans to dress up and go around their neighborhood to get free candy. Samantha volunteered to take the kids for me and Caleb can do a little bit of overtime."

(Big Mama) "It sounds like a whimsical little trip. I don't have a costume for Leonardo."

(Samantha) "I have one. It's a little lion onesie." 

Samantha took Leonardo and vanished into thin air. 

(Big Mama) “I forget that my dear Samantha can teleport with such ease sometimes. Any whizzle, this trick or treat ordeal, how does one participate?”

Suzie raised her hand and jumped up excitedly. 

(Suzie) “We knock on the human’s doors and we say trick or treat when they answer! If they don’t give us candy we play tricks on them! Humans throw eggs and toilet paper at their houses as tricks!”

(Big Mama) “Thank you Suzanne, you are such a brilliant young lady. What is your costume supposed to be?”

“Hehe! I’m you! You’re the best hotel owner in the whole world and you have the Battle Nexus! I want to be a champion when I grow up!”

Big Mama was delighted to find such a high opinion of her from the little girl, but Battle Nexus Champion? Suzanne had some daring life goals at the tender age of five.

“Oh? That is, uh, quite the aspiring goal you have there sweetheart. What about you boys? What are you two going as?”

(Jack) “Pirates! Daddy told us stories about the infamous Capitan Piel and his second in command and brother, Swashbuckling Hueso! They’re so cool!

(Danny) “Yeah, mommy doesn’t like us retelling the stories in public.”

(Samantha) “For good reason. Everytime you boys start talking about pirates, you start reenacting those stories.”

Samantha reappeared with Leo giggling waving a little pumpkin bucket. Big Mama felt her heart melt. Her little Leonardo was in the cutest lion onesie with a big poofy mane and…real whiskers?

(Samantha) “Don’t worry Mum, just a little illusion for some whiskers. It’ll fade when he goes to sleep.”

(Abigail) “He’s absolutely precious. Suzie, babby, do everything Big Mama and Ms Sammy say okay? Me and Daddy will see you later.”

Abigail left and Caleb revealed Shika. She was dressed as a little fairy princess with butterfly wings, a paper tiara, and a plastic toy wand. 

(Caleb) “Have fun Shika!)

Caleb kissed her cheek and handed her to Samantha after Big Mama had Leonardo safely in her arms. 

(Big Mama) “Caleb, be a dear and make sure the rest of this list gets done tonight.”

(Caleb) “Sure thing. Thanks again for taking the kids.”

(Big Mama) It’s no worries dear. Toodle loo, let us be off Samantha. Children, make sure you don’t run off without us.”

(Children Choir) “Okay!”

With no further delays, Big Mama, Samantha, a five year old, two seven year olds, a two year old, and Leonardo were set loose on the city. Leonardo was having more fun chewing on his pumpkin handle than anything else.

(Samantha) “Here you go Mum. Leo really shouldn’t be chewing on that.”

Samantha gave Big Mama a teething ring from seemingly nowhere. 

“I have a bookbag under an illusion full of snacks, formula, and pacifiers for the children. You can never be too careful on nights like this.”

“Clever girl Samantha. Here you go, baby shell.”

Leonardo gladly took the ring and Big Mama held onto his bucket. She figured out early on into their “night on the town” that Leonardo and Shika were far too young for this little outing, but it was still fun for her and Samantha to see the humans fawn over the children’s costumes. Big Mama was looking forward to doing this again when Leonardo was old enough. 

(Jack) “Mommy? Why does that man keep staring at us?”

Jack pointed at a human man leaning against a dirty, rusted, black van. He wore a brown leather jacket, a black shirt, dark colored jeans, boots, a black baseball cap, dark sunglasses, and a mask over his mouth. 

Samantha and Big Mama narrowed their eyes and knew what the human was plotting. Big Mama was not having it. Samantha tactfully distracted the children with snacks while Big Mama snapped her fingers and pointed at the man. Her team of bodyguards easily took care of the problem, all without a trace. 

(Big Mama) “Children, why don’t we go back to the hotel and dig into the candy, yes?”

(Children of the Corn) “Yeah!”

Suzie confidently led the children brigade (plus two adults) back to the Nexus Hotel with a beautifully sassy strut that dazzled Big Mama. Suzie no doubt had the charm that came with being a Champion. She could see Suzie becoming quite the extraordinary young woman in the future. However, in the here and now, she was still a darling little lady with big dreams and an impeccable fashion sense. 

Leonardo and the other children were sound asleep by the time they reached the hotel. They were now in the napping corner of her office while she and Samantha sorted through their candy. 

“Honestly, why would humans stick such things in candy and then give it to children?”

“I’m not too sure myself. Humans can be vile creatures, but there are just as many, if not more, of the good ones.  

“The children had lots of fun tonight. Are there any more holidays I could introduce to my little Leonardo?”

Samantha and Big Mama spent the rest of the night tending to the kids, gossiping about holidays, and going through baby pictures.
