“We trust you won’t fail us.”

“You have my word.”

A turtle yokai with a blue bandana and a sword strapped to his shell bowed his head to the Council of Heads and walked down the stairs. Outside of the sanctum, three other turtles were waiting and playing on their phones. 

Raphael: “Hey bro, welcome back.” 

Michaelangelo: “What’d those stuffy geezers want?”

Leonardo: “Be nice Miguel. They gave us a mission to find an agent of theirs.”

Donatello: “And where, pray tell, would we find this agent?”

Leonardo: “No clue. What’d you think, fearless leader?”

Raphael: “I think we should split up. The twins can go top side while me and Mikey can search here. Sound good?”

Michelangelo: “Aw yeah! Raphie and Angie in the Hidden City! Is Sis busy today? Do y’all think she’ll want to tag along with us?”

Suzie pushed off the building she was leaning on in the dark and crept up on her youngest brother. She lifted him up, tossed him in the air, and caught him on her back in one fell swoop. 

Suzie: “Right here Angel. I’ll help Team Hidden City. I’m positive Apes will be happy to help Team New York.”

Leonardo: “Great thinking Suzie! See ya later! C’mon DeeDee!”

Leo gave each of his siblings a tight hug and sliced a portal open to an alleyway. The twins activated their broaches and walked through. Donnie had light brown skin, dyed purple dreads with his roots showing, thin framed glasses framing his brown and green eyes, a dark purple almost black knee length skirt, a violet turtleneck sweater, some chains attached to his skirt, and a pair of steampunk themed knee length boots.

Leo was in a similar outfit. A baby blue knee length dress, an indigo colored tie up corset, a diamond chain earring going up his left earlobe and a blue and purple feather earring hanging from his right ear, his red streaks hung in front of his face while the rest of his golden brown hair was tied into a messy bun, and a pair of gothic ankle boots on his feet. Leo also had a shoulder bag full of medical supplies and Donnie’s collapsed tech-bo. His sword was disguised as a cute closed blue and white striped umbrella. 

The twins coordinated their outfits before they left the hotel. Leo loved to match with Donnie, but it annoyed his purple twin sometimes. So while their outfits were similar, it was different enough to not irk Donnie. Leo knew he secretly liked to semi-match with his twin, regardless of what he said outwardly. Leo was able to read Donnie like a J.J comic. 

The two walked around the city, while Donnie’s glasses scanned their surroundings for mystic energy. Leo skipped ahead and bought two cinnamon sugar soft pretzels and happily munched away. Leo was the self appointed face man. His bubbly and accepting disposition helped him worm his way into anybody’s heart. He was inherently clever. He knew how to make deals, how to put loopholes in his deals for his advantage, how to mentally cripple his opponents, etc. 

“Donnie, Donnie, Donnie! Look look look!”

Leo was pointing at a shop selling boba tea. 

“No Nardo, we already had pretzels.”

“Pleeease?”

Leo put on his best puppy dog eyes. Within a few minutes his twin was walking out of the shop with brown sugar and pineapple milk tea and one black coffee milk tea. Leo was happy. Donnie was filled with fond exasperation as he enjoyed his drink. Commotion flooded the sidewalk and two body-builder looking humans shoved past them. 

“Leo?”

“C’mon. We’ll go -”

“OMG! LEONARDO NEXUS!”

Donnie was able to retrieve his tech bo before Leo was swarmed by humans. 

“Leo!”

“DonDon, I’m fine! Go on without me and tell the others, I’ll catch up!”

Leo took off running in the other direction prompting the crowd to follow him. This was why Big Mama seldom left the safety of the hotel. At least yokai were polite and feared the Battle Nexus enough to not act like wild animals. Humans were a separate and vile breed; with the exception of the wondrous and sassy April O’neil. 

“Psst! Leo! This way!”

Leo ran down to his human friend and she shielded him from the humans. The crowd ran past like Leo didn’t just swan dive into his older sister’s arms. 

“Thanks for the save, Crepes!”

“No problem! What’s up though?” 

“I’ll explain on the way.”

Leo opened a portal and pulled April through. Then he made a portal to his other siblings and met Donnie, by himself, with a tiny cat-like yokai behind him. Leo snapped his fingers and Suzie snapped into action. She rounded the two bulky yokai up and tied them together with a rope. As soon as they were incapacitated, Leo’s eyes widened slightly and a sickly sweet, sinister grin broke out on his face. 

His brothers and April all took a step away from Leon, fearing a painful roast if they got in his way. Leon was on par with Dr. Delicate Touch, but Leon was sadistic to the highest degree; he had no qualms about getting his pretty little hands dirty to get what he wants.  

“Who are you two?”

The two looked at him and recognized him immediately. After all, it’s not like you could forget the face of the Grand Nexus’ young master.

“I’m not a patient turtle, boys. Don’t make me ask again. You really won’t like the outcome.”

Leon took a few steps closer, already dispelling his cloaking broach. One of the two yokai broke free, they grabbed Leon and the tiny yokai, and opened one of the Hidden City entrances. Leon was pulled inside and the doorway shut behind them. Leo tried to attack them but the took his sword and used the hilt to knock him out.

Leo woke up tied to a bunch of roots and purple-pink vines. He feigned that he was still asleep and subtly looked around. There were two tiny gargoyles in a dog's bed by a fire and a goat yokai typing on a mystic computer. 

He managed to free himself as quietly as a ninja can and sneak into the shadows. He found the tiny cat-like yokai in a one way containment sphere. He crept forward and freed him. They were almost home free when more purple-pink vine wrapped around his legs and torso. 

“Well well. You’re finally awake.”

“Yeah. You had better let me go right now bub.”

“Really, and why should I?”

“I am Leonardo Venus Nexus, son and heir to Big Mama. My mother will kill you.”

Leo was irritated when he wasn’t put down. Instead he was shoved into a containment sphere with the tiny yokai. He was this close to releasing Leon. At least this way he could activate his tracking beacon. His mother gave him and each of his brothers a sort of panic button for if they’re separated and in immediate danger. Godrick, Suzie, and Donnie all had a device that received the beacon’s signal. 

“Child, I created you. Big Mama has only been in possession of you. She couldn’t care less about you. I own you.”

“N-no! Mama loves me! You’re wrong!”

Leo had what Mikey called an inferiority complex. It didn’t rear it ugly little head until Leo had siblings his own age and species. Raph was big and strong with the personality of a saint, Donnie was insanely smart and had the funniest sarcastic remarks, and Miguel was ridiculously artistically and culinarily talented. What did Leo have? His puns? His face? His status? 

Baron Draxum watched the flood of insecurities over his experiment face with interest. He had something to exploit. 

“If Big Mama loved you, why would she let you be captured?”

Leo hugged his knees. The little yokai that was trapped with him curled into Leo’s arms, trying to ground him. Baron Draxum continued to taunt and play on Leo’s insecurities and fear when a fiery chain smacked him in the face. Donnie set to work free Leo and Raph hugged him tightly. Suzie, Mikey, April, and Donnie were beating the crap out of the caprid yokai and the two tiny gargoyles. The lab was eventually set on fire. Leo was panicking and made a portal to get everyone out. The portal led them to a warm sandy beach in Tahiti. 

“Thanks for the rescue guys, and ladies.”

“Don’t thank us, it was to be expected, dear twin.”

“Yeah! No way is a member of the Mad Dogz gonna be left behind!”

“Did any of you find my sword?”

“About that…”

Suzie took the hilt of his sword from her jacket. 

“Your sword was dismantled and being melted into other weapons. I managed to save the hilt though.”

“Thank you Suzie. Maybe Godrick will make me a new one?”

“Yeah! Until then, here!”

Mickey thrusted a well crafted odachi blade into his hands.

“We stole new weapons from Draxum’s lab!”

Raph had a pair of tonfa and Mikey had a kusari-fundo. Leo was relieved that his family is safe for another day, but something told him that this was only the beginning
