Chapter 32: Splinter and The Turtles Fates
Donnie loved his family. They were the only middle child for his whole life. They only had two siblings, Raphael and Michelangelo. They only had one parental unit, Splinter or Hamato Yoshi. After his twelfth birthday, everything changed. They now had four new siblings and two new parental units; Leonardo, Suzie, Jack, Daniel, Ophelia Nexus, and Abigail.
After meeting this pair of doting mothers, his supposed loving father barely talked to him or his brothers anymore. I mean, why would he put in any more effort when there was already a pair of full time mothers looking after his kids? He spends his days now ignoring everything and watching his vast collection of Lou Jitsu movies.
Big Mama and Abigail praised his inventions and helped him when they were over/understimulated. They understood when Donnie needed space or craved parental affection. They didn’t push him and they didn’t ignore them.
Donnie officially gave up on the man they called father on Father’s Day, go figure. He outright ignored his fourth child, Donnie’s very own twin brother, when Leo gave him a present that clearly took a long time to make. Leo’s masterful photography skills were being laid to waste with the lazy rat. Donnie would never forgive the rat for hurting Leo so deeply.

Raph was alway the oldest. The big brother, the brother who was the biggest. He had a very foggy memory, but he remembered tiny bits and pieces from his childhood. He always knew something was missing from his life, but the only thing he could think of to tie the feeling to was matching red crescents. Now that he finally reunited with his younger brother Leonardo, it made sense.
After coming to the Grand Nexus and finding out Leo was his brother, his whole family was removed from the sewers and moved into the hotel. He was eternally grateful that his brothers no longer had to live below ground. He was also happy his younger brothers could actually make friends their own age without fear of immediate rejection.
Most of all he was thankful to have a pair of competent parents. He loved his dad, but he wasn’t exactly a father. He didn’t even call them by their proper names, only their preferred mask colors. He was enrolled in bi weekly therapy sessions and he learned that Splinter made him a surrogate parent to avoid responsibilities. It really made him see his dad in a light he didn’t exactly like. With Big Mama and Miss Abigail, Raph was finally allowed to be a kid. He was fifteen, but he acted like he was twenty-two with two children he practically raised.
He also wasn’t the oldest anymore. He was still the biggest brother, but his older siblings were Jack, Danny, and Suzie. He was allowed to be a child and have fun with his little brothers and have older siblings to rely on.

Michael was always and will always be the baby of the family. No matter what happened in his life, that would never change. Even with the additions of Leo, Jack, Danny, Suzie, Big Mama, and Abby, Mikey will always be the baby.
That’s not to say he hated his position. Being the baby had plenty of perks. Extra dessert, less harsh punishments, leniency, and people didn’t notice his presence right away. They also tell him things they don’t tell anybody else. He was the most emotionally mature before coming to live at the hotel and that hadn’t changed, much.
Big Mama and her family were almost as mature as him, emotionally speaking, but he still outranked them. It was refreshing to have new family members realize it’s okay to feel certain things.
He always knew Splinter wasn’t ready to be a father when he got Mickey and his brothers. He wasn’t a fantastic father, in any sense of the word. More like a clinically depressed uncle who took in his estranged nephews after an unfortunate accident.
Mikey wanted to help him, but Splinter pushed him away at every opportunity, so he stopped trying and let him be. He was happy to have Big Mama and Abby as new parents. They laughed at his jokes, enjoyed and gave honest constructive criticisms about his cooking and artwork, and were always available to talk to about literally anything.
Jack, Danny, and Suzie were great new older brothers and sisters. The oldest pair of twins were fun to hang around and loved to plan pranks with him. Suzie was always down to take him somewhere, whether in New York or the Hidden City, to perform graffiti art. They got along great with Donnie and Raph and that was always a good sign.
Leo was amazing to have around. He had an arsenal of puns locked and loaded, had a competitive edge that mirrored his own, and like him, was the baby of his family before meeting them. They were the family babies and Mikey was teaching Leo how to use that to his advantage.

“Thank you. Feel free to complimentary spa day on your next visit my dear. Until next time.”
A wolf yokai in a pinstriped suit walked out with a sweet smile on her face. Suzie passed her on her way out of the elevator.
“Mama, who was that?”
“Suzanne, darling. Excellent timing. I have some paperwork, I’d like for you to fill out.”
Suzie plopped down into a bean bag and took the papers.
“Adoption forms?”
“Yes, I know you think of me as your mother, and believe me, I feel the same about you as my daughter, I’d like it to be recognized by the law. Abigail is already speaking to Leonardo with the same paperwork. The woman you passed by was an old lawyer friend of mine who helped me get these forms so quickly.”
“Already signed. Do I have to get my name changed?”
“Only if you want to Baby-fang.”
“I’m thinking…Suzanne Abby Nexus. Sounds better than Suzanna Marie Martin, right?”
“Indeed it does Baby-fang. I’ll have the name change done by tomorrow.”
“What are the other papers for?”
“For your brothers, Abigail and I plan to adopt them too.”
“Okay that’s three of the forms accounted for. What about the other two?”
“For Jack and Daniel. They are also your brothers.”
“What about Miss Samantha?”
“She left the hotel just before Christmas. She left a note for me to take care of her boys and apologizing for not being a good mother. I don’t know where she went and Jack and Daniel told me not to bother looking for her. Officially adopting them as my sons will make things far easier. Leonardo always wanted a large family.”
“What about the rat?”
“I took care of that. Don’t you worry your pretty little head about him Baby-fang.Go play with your brothers.”

Splinter laid in his favorite chair. He was sleeping soundly as his room was modified. He had a personal bathroom, his own kitchenette, and a dumbwaiter where foodstuffs were delivered on a weekly basis. There was also a corner on exercise equipment and a year's worth of cleaning supplies. The lazy rat was to be locked in his room until further notice. His sons were free to visit him as often as they liked, but Big Mama guessed visits would be few and far between.
