"Last five minutes please.” the sleepy baby voice of Vedant made Sameer feel frustrated. He had been trying to wake up Vedant for almost an hour. He then finally used his bramhastra (a disastrous weapon usually used as the last resort), “Now if you don't wake up Vedant then, I am throwing you in the pool.” he said his voice oozing evilness. “Papa…” Vedant whined as he got up knowing very well that his father is fully capable of doing it. Sameer grinned. “Get Ready and wear new clothes baby, you want to go to temple and visit the other kids and your ggrandma right?” Vedant looked up at his father nodding and launched himself on his dad. “Happy birthday.” Sameer said softly ruffling the young boys hair and bringing him to the bathroom.

After an Hour.

“No Vedant, I never said 6th birthday, I said in 6th standard.” Sameer said in his bored tone. “No… no… I remember very well.. You said 6th birthday.” Vedant tried the last time but had already given up. It was impossible to win against his father… ..ALONE. But he grinned, because with the help of his uncle he can. “N. O. No. Is it so difficult to understand that coffee is harmful for health? You can have it when you grow older. Finish your milk.” Sameer’s voice was stern. “Okay. But I am telling Tauji.” he said grinning like the devil himself and Sameer nodded, “Yeah… and he will also say NO only.” Sameer answered back mimicking the evil grin. They bickered for quite a while but to the amusement of the maids they were talking as if they never bickered the next moment.

Vedant visited the temple with his father, distributed chocolates and clothes to the children he saw on the road, that was an addition by Sameer. He also met his Tauji, Taiji and Dadiji and his cousins. Rest would come at the evening party, so he can meet them there. As they were sitting in the car, Sameer was reading certain report from his laptop and a smile was playing on Vedant’s lips. The demand he had done for party was because of one reason, one person, one girl… or in simple words his first crush which he had obviously mistaken as love. That was because the girl had a crush on him too. Meghana was a cute outspoken girl, they clicked immediately as friends when she had transferred three months back to their school. But they both soon joined the mutual admiration club. And so, he wanted a party, to show off to her.

“Why are you smiling like that Vedant?” Sameer asked his eyes still trained on the laptop and his fingers typing away an email furiously. “Hmm… that… nothing.. Just..” Vedant stammered blushing scared that his father could read his thoughts as usual. “Were you thinking about the wall paper in your tab?” Sameer asked, closing his laptop and eyeing his son suspiciously. It took Vedant a moment to register, she was his wall paper. Vedant's face turned red like a tomato, “Papa.” he whined nearing his father and burying his head in his father's neck. Sameer laughed out loud and tried to pull his son away so that he could see his face but the child didn't lose the grip even a bit, shy as your mother, he thought a sad smile playing on his lips. Same car, same back seat and same position…

Vedanta and Sameer had just attended the birthday party of their nephew, Priyan. As they were returning back home, Sameer was on a phone call and he seemed very frustrated with the person on the other side. He was instructing Mr. Meherotra and scolding him for a certain careless mistake, but Vedanta didn't seemed to care. She was in her own world, her cheeks burning and her eyes focused on her 7 months pregnant belly. Her eyes had a spark. As Sameer ended his call, he was thoroughly mad but a look at his wife’s activities lit up his eyes in amusement. “Why are you smiling like that?” he asked wrapping an arm around her shoulder and keeping his other one above her's in her stomach. She looked at him but quickly averted her gaze, her face still red like a tomato. “Tell.” this time Sameer ordered sternly because unlike how its with his son, with his wife, he couldn't predict her thoughts… But he knew that it would be something fun with just a look at her.

“That… that… Priyan… that… bhabhi..” she stammered unable to tell him, what she wanted to tell. But a look at Sameer's face, she knew that he would be mad if she didn't tell Now, “Bhabhi…and Bhaiya... are planning to get Priyan a sibling." she finally said. His eyes widened as the fact sinked in. He smirked seeing her clear discomfort, "So why are you blushing?" he asked kissing her cheek lightly. Her eyes snapped to him for a moment and a clear seriousness could be sensed in them but she blushed and looked down almost immediately. "She advised me... To.. Umm... Talk with you. About... That... Babu... Sibling." she said burying her head in his neck and she could feel the vibration of his chest. He was laughing.

"Oh God wifey! It's been more than 250 days we are living under the same roof, in the same room... Sleeping in the same bed." the last words he said huskily lifting up her chin. "And you are so shy to tell this to me." he placed a kiss on her lips. "I need time... It's to early... I will think and let you know asap" he was quick to add, knowing that she wanted to know, but he had failed to realise that she didn't wanted to know... She wanted to discuss.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now he wanted to scream, '3 years' but she was gone. He sighed but the shy smile of his son and the halted car made him grin. But before he could realise Vedant quickly pecked his cheek and ran out. He didn't even wait for reciprocation, Sameer thought it was because he was shy and his car rode of. But oh he was so wrong, the rushing Vedant stopped before his crush, he wanted to hug her.. But he was what is called Mr. Shy. However, she hugged him. And Vedant did have a birthday bash that day.. He met his grandparents, relatives and even some of his father's colleagues and clients. But that day was so special because Vedant got his first kiss. It was accidental and an innocent brush. But it left both the kids flustered and they avoided each other and their parents like plague.
But after the party Sameer got hold of Vedant, he had been not drinking, in order to remain sane to read letter and this boy was missing, "Vedant, baby... Where were you??" Vedant was thoroughly embedded, "That... Papa.." before he could continue, Sameer lifted him up not able to contain his excitement, "We will read letter." he told and his excitement turned infectious as he immediately got a nod from Vedant. They reached, and searched for the letter from the box (6), it read.
Happy Birthday to the Mama's little boy. Oops, mama can say no more little,  can I? No. My boy is all grown up. Vedant would have loved that sentence, but the guilt stabbed him. Maybe his mother knew, he had done something kids are not supposed to do he wondered. Sameer just smiled.
I hope you have been studying well, visiting my Krishna temple and asking my Lord for your happiness from mama's side, being a good boy, distributing chocolates and whatever you can to the street kids and being a loving boy to everyone in the family. At this Vedant nodded his head fervently smiling a little. Sameer just wanted to read further.
Your papa must feel proud of you my boy. If the earlier sentence had made Vedant happy, then this made Sameer. He was glad she thought if him. His eyes moistened. But Vedant read further..
But now enough, mama, is so expecting, no? But what can mama do, after all you are her hope,  her life. "Mama.. " those words left, Vedant's lips unknowingly. He couldn't quite catch the depth of the sentence but he knew that his mother loved him. But this clenched Sameer's heart. Was he nothing? He wondered. But then let that be. She must have written like that only... He concluded.
But enough. I want you to see a old movie, it's name is Kuch Kuch hota hai. Don't fear, mama has written more letters for you,  not just 7. "What? What is mama saying?" Vedant asked his dad confused. Sameer himself was Flabbergasted, she never liked that movie, intact once when he had forced her saying that he wanted to watch it, she had ended up crying and sobbing. Anyway they read further...
Mama,  never liked the movie,  but the idea of writing such letters to tell you what all mama feels came from there. Ask your papa to watch it with you. Always remember son,  relax and enjoy in life,  it's very important. Once again Happy Birthday,  my prince charming. Never and I mean never ever forget mama loves you. Stay happy, the hope of my life. Vedant completed with a grin, and kissed the letter as did Sameer, it had became a ritual.
But they didn't watch the movie, it was too late!! Sameer said as he had started terrible missing his wife and it was indeed late and the next day was a working one. They slept. Both a little guilty yet a lot more happy. They had their reasons... But it had still been okay. Life goes on.... Sameer felt her words to be true as Vedant had changed a lot... He was almost normal...and Sameer learnt to live...
