I will die without coffee & WC goals #85K90 2019
AND do another #85K90 !!!
So you are probably asking WHY Mama? Why do you do this to yourself? Well, the truth is : I like having a deadline. I NEED IT! Crzy, IKR... But it works for me. The thing I like about #85K90 is that it is less than 1K per day. It is a far easier race than the #NaNoWriMo. Getting my plot plan together and a stash of coffee before starting on a new project is the first step, the race starts when I set the Word Count per day or the Chapter WC... Because I am one of those weird ppl who will get up at 4AM to write when it is quiet. Professional Writing coaches will tell you over and over set a writing time amount, do sprints, and timed writing and I am totally down with that but I am also a very goal oriented person. When I ran track, I ran for distance, checking off the landmarks as I passed them. I write the same way.
Here is a survey I did on chapters and word counts and the comments I got ...
Personally I like between 2,000 and 3,000 words per chapter, I try to keep the chapters in a given story with an allowance of 25% over of my wc limit. But I am a "chatty writer" so I am never under.
But with some writing sites limiting the chapters' wc to 1500 or less, and the attention span of the readers of certain genres, I have seen books that the chapters were more like 500 WC flash Fictions and others that the chapters were these 7,000-10,000 word encyclopedias of story development.
So that is what I need: A word count goal, a plot plan, and a lot of coffee. Tally-ho and it's off to scribble I go.
