Chapter 2
"Ah, Ms. Katlyn you're here," her doctor smiled at her.
"Of course. I believe I might be able to afford the surgery, Doctor Kim," she sighed as she got comfortable on the hospital bed.
"Really?" He grinned. "That's great, its sometimes easier to let go of something that takes a toll on your mental health Ms. Katlyn."
"I believe I found a healthy job that will help me recover from the loss of Thomas," she explained.
"Oh, you're working?" He asked her. He did an ultrasound to check and see if her body might have started to reject her fetus.
"Yes, I'm a nanny now, it came unexpected actually," she told her doctor.
"For a child? That's great!" He praised her.
"Actually, he's a newborn," she said.
"Do you know the baby's name then?" He asked her smiling at her. He was glad that his patient might finally be able to be relieved from the sadness that her miscarriage has brought her. It was such a shame, that after the surgery she wouldn't be able to have a baby again.
"I don't seem to recall if I learned his name or not," she admitted.
"Ah, such a shame," he sighed.
"I came in last week for my appointment, but you had been called in for a birth?" She questioned.
"Actually yes, my cousin's doctor couldn't make it and I was the only doctor able to deliever," he solemnly said.
"How was her birth?" She asked.
"The baby was born prematurely, two weeks before his due date. He would've been a older than your baby," he said. He trusted his patient. "Unfortunately, my cousin didn't pull through."
"Oh, I'm sorry for your loss," she frowned. She would've been happy to have her baby, even if she couldn't live to see him grow up. Only if she knew that he'd be in loving arms though. She would have fought for her life, if he would go somewhere awful. "Was she happy when she passed?"
"The happiest I've ever seen her. Even though all of the pain she was in, she saved her last words to name him, she named him after her fiance actually," he told her the story of how baby Hobi was born.
"That's so sweet, I'd give anything to give birth, even if I ended up dying, as long as he'd get to live a life knowing that I loved every inch of him even before he was born. I'd grow to love him every single day," she smiled at the thought of having Thomas.
Thomas was supposed to be the name of her baby, even if her boyfriend didn't approve.
"She knew she might have complications during birth, but she kept the baby anyways. The couple made a series of videos just in the case that she did have them. They were prepared for the worst. They wanted the best, but they got second worst possible thing," he said. His voice sounded strained, like he was going to cry.
"The baby is healthy, right?" She asked.
"Yes," he mumbled.
"Then I say they got the second best blessing, even if the mother didn't pull through, ar least the baby was born healthy and into the arms of a loving family," she grinned.
"You really think he'll be happy and loved?" He asked.
"Of course, babies bring joy and love. The father I met today, who I'll be the nanny for, stared at me so hard, with caution, that I felt like the he'd kill me if I put out a wrong move on the baby," she remembered Hoseok's hard gaze.
"He sounds like a good father," Doctor Kim chuckled. "So I have good news and bad news."
"Bad news first," she demanded.
"Alright then, so the baby hasn't been dispelled," he told her.
"I already knew that," she grumbled.
"Good news is that I have an opening in two weeks for the surgery," he said.
"I don't see how any of that is good news, but I guess I should take the surgery," she breathed out a long sigh.
"Alright, you can leave now Ms. Katlyn," he dismissed her.
She smiled and looked to his desk, Ph.D. Kim Jaesun.
"Bye Doctor Kim," she said.
