Chapter Forty-five: The Resolution.
Holding Wrath's limp hand made me relive all the memories with him. Him opening his heart to me despite not knowing me that well, him and I talking for all those hours on the way to the seer, him showing me his room, him confessing that he saved me in the river.
He saved me in the river.
Tears bursted out of my eyes like the river. My chin trembled like a little child as I held on the man I love. I realized who I desired, who I loved. This desire wasn't lust, it was the wanting of a companion, a friend, someone who gave you hope, someone who trusted you enough to tell you anything, this desire was a desire of a soulmate.
My vision became blurry, as I let my tears flow. All my barriers and walls that held me up, gave me strength came crashing down, falling, wall by wall, brick by brick, leaving me weak. My tears soaked my blood-stained shirt. It felt like it was Wrath and I alone in the world; the world felt silent, as if they were mourning the loss of Wrath. My sobs punched through my throat, shaking my whole body. In my mind, I saw a crack. I reached out and tried to reach it, hold it in my hands. Once I touched it, my mind became an explosion of colours: red, blue, black, white, gold.
Gold.
The colours dimmed, leaving the crack shining in gold. Slowly, it began to seal. Almost sealed. Cracks formed all around me, each of them illuminated in gold, slowly sealing. Suddenly, everything was gold, bright gold light.
I was back in the real world, Wrath on the floor. I placed the back of his hand on my forehead and whispered, "spero pacem idithun."
I got up and walked away with a heavy heart. My legs were shaking, but I managed to keep upright. I reached my friends, making my way back to the gate when I heard a raspy, pained voice.
"I told you...I'll always be t-there for you."
I turned around to see Wrath, propped up on an elbow. He gave me a soft smile and collapsed back down. I let out a squeak and ran to his aid.
He was alive.
I held his hands, grasping them in mine. He was alive! I laughed through my tears, thanking the God for keeping him alive, for giving him back to me. This was a second chance to make things right. The Sins rushed to help carry Wrath into the infirmary. They gave him some weird black liquid, that made him gag. The Sins had pushed me out of the infirmary to tend his wounds by removing his clothes.
I went back to the fields of Incompertus with the Virtues, all the demons, retreated back to Hell, because the affects of the Malum had subsided. All the dead were fading into small lights, like stars. There was no discrimination when it came to the dead, evil or good, man or woman, they all became stars, watching us. Angels become constellations, even devils do become constellations if they deserve it. I stopped next to my mother, smiling at her as she turned into stars. I watched her stars swirl upwards, turning into a constellation of a warrior. I inhaled the winds of change. I moved with the rest of the warriors back to heaven, turning back to look at Hell. I searched for Dominic and Joshua in the crowd, spotting them up ahead. They were fine.

I was in the infirmary, while 'doctors' tended to my wounds. I wanted to go back to Hell to see Wrath once more but the doctors told me to stay put. While I was on the bed, Lust walked in.
"Hey Maia," he greeted.
I smiled in return, patting the bed for him to sit next to me. He obliged and sat down.
"How's Wrath? I asked.
"Getting better. He's begging us to let him see you. He isn't in the right condition to move right now, but he is insisting. Do you think you can come see him anytime soon?"
"I'm going to have to convince the doctors to let me go, but I'll try my best to come."
Lust smiled, dimples forming, "thank you, Maia."
He left the room. I stared at the door, thinking about everything that has happened over the past couple of months. I was an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life, but I guess that wasn't the case anymore. I sighed, then realized how exhausted I was. I drifted off to sleep; for the first time in a long time, I didn't dream. I slept peacefully.
