Chp. 7

Allison looked at me, and started toward me, I was the only one besides her still here. When did they all leave?

She looked at me, “You ok?”

I shook my head, “No, this place… I don’t think it’s safe here.”

“Why?”

I bent down to pick up the book, but when I opened it to show Allison, the pages were blank.

Every single one of them.

Allison looked at me like I was crazy. Was I? it was just there a second ago… I knew that. So what the fuck just happened?

Allison pulled me up and smiled, “C’mon, everything’s going to be ok.”

She pulled me out of the basement, and brought me back up to the living room. Lyle and Zeke were on the couch and I guess Nathan and Kate were doing… well, each other.

No, everything was not going to be ok. All the signs were there, the gas tank, car trouble, the town… and the book.

They were all signs…

Weren’t they? Or was I just going crazy?

It was late, but I wasn’t tired. There was no way in hell I was going to be able to sleep anyway, not with all of this shit I had going on in my head. Then I remembered Allison was on the other end of my hand, and I smiled at the feeling.

She led me outside, and I felt the hot summer air wrap around my half covered body. I was wearing shorts and a loose top, covering up my bathing suit.

We were on the pier and I felt Allison move in, leaning on me almost. I knew she wasn’t drunk so I knew exactly what she was getting at. I looked at her, feeling the nervousness build up in my stomach, and then I kissed her.

Her hand was tangled in my light brown hair, and our lips moved together. I had missed this so much, I was so grateful that she apologized, and that Kate invited her. I would’ve been the one left out if she hadn’t… and I was thanking Kate right at this moment.

I pulled back, “Allison…”

She sighed, cutting me off, “I’ve missed this so much, words don’t explain it.”

I smiled, running my hand down her side and stopping on her waist line. I leaned in, whispering, “Let’s go skinny dipping.”

I saw her smirk grow, and I let mine to, she was way to sexy and sweet to still be covered up. I backed away, giving her the best seductive look I could muster up, and started to take off my clothes. I slipped off my pants and then my bathing suit bottoms, thanking God that I had shaved everything before leaving my house.

Her eyes traveled from my eyes to my sex and I felt my face redden, but I was confident, and I knew she was liking what she was seeing.

I took off my shirt, and then I grabbed the bathing suit string in my mid back, and pulled, untying it. And then I grabbed the top, and when I pulled I felt the fabric leave my body. I was naked, and Allison’s eyes were taking in every inch of skin she could see.

Then I turned and walked into the hot water, and it felt good. I eyes Allison’s still clothed body, and she smirked, I smiled, “Am I gonna have to come up there and undress you myself?”

Then before I knew it she was undressed and next to me, her body heat wrapping around mine. I smiled, holding her against me, I whispered, “I forgot how sexy you were naked.”

She wrapped her arms around my neck, “Want me to remind you?”

I smiled, running my hands down her wet skin, feeling every inch of her perfection. She was warm, and her body heat was keeping me warm to. I let my lips travel from hers to her jaw bone, and then her neck, she had tiny bumps on her skin, and I knew she was shivering…

Then I made it to her collarbone and kissed it, she moaned, and her fingers clawed at my back. I wanted her, now, more then ever.

But something in my peripheral view made my eyes pull away from her, and they searched the dark wooded area.

There was a man, a very tall man, his shadowy figure standing there, still, almost lifeless. He was watching us! What a fucking creep!

A scream caught in my throat and I wanted to cry, Allison noticed my sudden emotions and she pulled back, catching my gaze for only a second. “What’s wrong Brooks?”

I looked into her light green eyes, and then pulled them away from hers immediately, searching for the figure again.

But he was gone.

No… there was someone there. Just a second ago! There was no way someone could move that fast… I shook my head, there was something wrong… there was someone there! I swear of it!

I stood, not caring if I was soaking wet and naked, and I walked to the shore, picking up my clothes. Allison looked at me strangely, and her face fell, “Did you not like it…?”

I looked at her, slipping on my shorts and T shirt, “You know that’s not true… I just feel spooked out. I wanna go inside… and finish what we started.”

I tried to let the words sound convincing, but I knew they weren’t at all. Allison was going to get the wrong idea… but it wasn’t her at all. I had seen a man watching us almost get it on for Christ’s sake! I couldn’t help but feel violated and completely terrified.

My heart was still hammering in my chest, and my body was hot, my mouth was dry, and I quickly pulled Allison into the safety of the cabin. We ran into Lyle and Zeke and Lyle spoke up, “You two went skinny dipping without us!?”

In any other situation I would’ve laughed it off, but not now. No. I was scared, and I walked over to the cabin door and locked it. Dead bolting it and the knob to, then I made sure all of the windows were secured. All three of them watched me like I was a crazy person, and maybe I was, but there was something wrong with this cabin.

I was just taking precautions.

After I checked the last window, for the second time now, Allison’s hand found mine. She smiled, and I saw pity in her eyes, she knew I was freaking out, but she didn’t understand why. “C’mon, let’s go upstairs… we can finish what we started.”

My heart lifted a bit at those words, but I was still worried, his figure never leaving my mind. I wasn’t crazy… I was completely normal before I got here. It was the cabin, the town, the book… those were the reasons I was like this. It wasn’t me, my head was fine… wasn’t it?

No one else seemed to see anything wrong.

Then again, they didn’t get choked out in a gas station bathroom, and find out that the word on the mirror in the bathroom was the same name as the stupid cabin. And they didn’t talk to the old lady, and see the worried look on her face. Or read the book and saw that Malum in Latin means evil and dark, and to me that had been plenty of red flags to send my happy ass back in the car and go home.

But yet, here I was, terrified and still here.

Allison closed the door behind her and locked it, looking at me, “You ok?”

I nodded, trying to seem as normal as possible. No one was going to believe me if I told them what I saw, they would all think I was crazy. When I went to show Allison the stupid book and al the pages were blank she looked at me as if I had spoken another language.

No one was going to believe me.

She laid me down on our bed and kissed my neck, but all I could think about was the figure.

I tried concentrating on what she was doing but I couldn’t, I was scared, my mind was not here anymore. It wasn’t my fault though… I had seen something in those woods.

I was sure of it.

There was someone here, with us, something was trying to warn us to get the hell out of here.

But was it going to be to late before we listened?
