It was the night everyone had been preparing for. Cassie was getting her makeup done, a nice sparkly eyeshadow and natural looking lipstick. Her friends were getting ready with her.

Aisha was slipping into her beautiful light pink dress that made her look like a princess and Romilda was putting on a necklace that went with her purple dress perfectly.

They were ready and went to meet their dates. Noah forgot how to breathe and speak for a moment or two when he saw Cassie. She was absolutely gorgeous.

The six walked to the great hall. Aisha and Jack went directly to the food. Romilda and Oliver decided to leave Cassie and Noah to talk.

James and Lucas waited patiently for Lyra to meet her date.

"You're a nice big brother," Lucas noted.

"Oh we're not related. My brother and his brother date and he is interested in my sister but just won't take the big step to ask her out already." Lyra shook her head, "shame, they would be cute together. I would've asked my brother but his busy snogging his boyfriend."

Soon Léa arrived with her friend and her date guiding her. All of them walked together to the Great Hall. When James saw Cassie his heart stopped for a moment. She was the most beautiful girl there. If he could turn back time to ask her he would.

His heart always did that when he saw her. She could be having a bad hair and skin day but she always had that effect on him. Lucas poked his ribs playfully, "why didn't you ask her?"

James sighed, "things happened and I just didn't think it was the right time."

Lucas rolled his eye, "You're an idiot."

James nodded, "believe me, I know."

Scorpius put his hands on his boyfriend's hips, "if we don't stop kissing we'll miss the ball."

"I don't mind." Albus smirked.

Scorpius rolled his eyes playfully, "I want to go. Come on."

"Fine but we're sleeping in the same bed again. You keep nightmares away."

"Deal. Come on I want to dance and eat."

The boys walked peacefully to the ball and began dancing almost immediately. It was always a good time when they were together. Albus saw his big brother and a foreign guy dancing together also and he smiled. His brother was so cool and fun. He made other people want to join in on the fun and some eventually did.

Soon the boys went to grab a bite and chat to their other friends and even dance with them.

Cassie and Noah sat down after dancing a few songs. Cassie was thankful that Jack had charmed her shoes to feel comfortable. He was now dancing with his girlfriend making her look even more like a princess. She hoped she could have a boyfriend like that. Jack would give Aisha foot massages when he noticed she was tired. He would hold her close and hug her and kiss her with her consent and protect her from anyone who tried to hex her. It was like he was everywhere. Maybe he had a map like James did.

Speaking of the devil he was being pulled towards her and Noah by a beautiful girl. The beautiful girl gave a charming smile and Noah, "Can I borrow you for a dance?"

Noah looks at Cassie who nodded at him and he stood up to dance with the beautiful girl. James stood awkwardly in front of her.

This was a weird sight to see, James always managed to look confident and here he was looking awkward. Cassie stood up, "dance with me?"

James blushed, "of course!"

As the two went to the dance floor the music changed into a slow song. Cassie swallowed her nerves and placed her hands elegantly on James's shoulders and James placed his around her waist.

It was like time had stopped. They were lost in the moment. That was until Zack bumped into James playfully as he danced with Francesca and winked at him. James stuck his tongue out at his friend playfully and continued to dance until the music changed.

Zack then had a turn to dance with Cassie as he told James to dance with Francesca for one song.

"You two are so into each other," Zack teased.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

Zack nodded, "Sure. You two have literal heart eyes when you look at each other. I thought you were a Ravenclaw."

Cassie glared at him playfully, "I am! He said that it wasn't the right time. I just want to kiss him right now."

"And why don't you?"

Cassie bit her lip, "we both have dates. Granted his date is over there kissing another girl but Noah is right there. It isn't right."

Zack shrugged, "sometimes the right thing isn't the best thing to do."

Cassie frowned not knowing what to make of that.

Scorpius and Albus didn't have any problems that night with the homophobic students that visited them. Jack has really scared them away and hopefully for good.

Their evening was actually quite enjoyable. They danced close together, ate food and kissed here and there.

Soon the night was coming to an end and they left. The boys got into their pyjamas and snuggled each other. Albus smiled and fell asleep with ease. He was definitely going to miss this when they left for Christmas vacation.
