Rough Nights
"Albus. Go to your room. Now." Harry ordered.
"Tough guy you are dad. You defeat the Voldemort and you can't even listen to you own son." Albus ran to his room slamming it shut.
"Harry. Message for you." Ginny said tossing him the map.
4 messages from the marauders about his bad parenting. Harry didn't question anything he just put the map down. "I'm going to shower."
Ginny rolled her eyes and went to write to Hermione knowing what was going to happen.
♔
Hermione sat in the living room with a book and coffee. Albus appeared in the floo network. "Scorpius is in his room. The door has his name on it, Cassie likes painting."
Albus stood frozen. "H-how?"
"Your mum wrote to me Al. She knows you were going to run away and come here to talk to Scorpius. Your dad ran away when he was going to third year and now history repeats itself it but you're a fourth year. Go talk to your friend. You can stay over, your mum also sent clothes." Hermione handed him a box.
"Thank you." Albus said and walked away to Scorpius. His eyes got teary by the time he reached the room and opened the door.
"What's wrong?" Scorpius stood up and hugged him. Albus dropped the box to the side and buried his face on the crook of his neck and sobbed. Scorpius closed the door and castes a silencing charm so no one could eavesdrop. "Was it your dad?"
"He got mad. We were talking and he tried to but he got mad. Even yelled."
Scorpius guided them to the bed and sat Albus down in front of him. "Did you eat?" Albus shook his head. "I'll be right back. Make yourself at.... my home." Scorpius knew that Albus's home wasn't the best place for Albus to think about. He went down stairs and saw his mum making some food for dinner. There was an extra plate with food and two of the plates were in a platter.
"Those two are for you and Al." Hermione handed him the platter.
"Thank you for understanding mum." Scorpius took the platter and went up to his room. Albus was looking through his photos when he entered his room. Scorpius place the platter on his desk and walked over to Albus. "Hey." He whispered.
"Hey. I was just looking through these. You and your dad have a good bond don't you?" Albus sighed.
"Yeah we do." Scorpius smiled.
"Who are they?" Albus pointed at a picture of Tom and Emma.
"Grandparents from my mum's side." Scorpius answered. "Come on let's eat." They ate in silence and Scorpius took the dirty dishes downstairs. He went back up and let Albus borrow clothes to sleep in. He always got cold easily so Albus put on green sweater that was a bit bigger. They got in opposite sides of the bed and laid down to sleep. Scorpius was slowly falling asleep when he heard Albus saying incoherent things and panicking. "Al." Albus didn't wake up despite all the shaking Scorpius tried. Finally he gave up and wrapped arms around his friend pulling him close. Albus breathing calmed down and he unconsciously cuddled up next to Scorpius. Scorpius smiled like an idiot and fell asleep automatically.
♔
The next morning Albus woke up and saw Scorpius in his face with his arms around him. Scorpius snored lightly, he looked peaceful and carefree, and the sun that came through the curtains made his hair shine. Without thinking, Albus picked his head up a bit and kissed Scorpius. Scorpius smirked, "hello. Umm, have we kissed before? Do we kiss?" Albus giggled and kissed him again. Finally Scorpius opened his eyes and smiled. "What does this make us?"
Albus sighed. "Well we can do either two things. We can pretend this never happened -"
"Or?"
"You can be my boyfriend?" Albus suck his breath.
"I like that."
"Boys! Breakfast is served!" Hermione announced.
"Meet my parents?" Scorpius asked teasingly.
"Already have you dork." Albus kissed his boyfriend and stood up to go change quickly. Scorpius followed his lead and they walked together downstairs.
♔
"Ginny have you seen Al?" Harry asked worried.
Ginny rubbed her eyes and sat up. "Don't worry he's fine. Do you think I would sleep calmly if I didn't know where my son was?"
"Where is he?" Harry asked again.
"I'm going to tell you at the end of your man period." Ginny tossed him a pillow playfully. Harry smiled and kissed his wife. "Fine he went to Malfoy Manor version 2.0."
"Let's go drop by and get him home."
♔
No one at the table asked Albus about last night. Draco understood what it was to want to run away and hide, Hermione knew that Harry was not always a great listener, Cassiopeia and Lyra just understood they couldn't bring it up. "Al, are you excited for this year?" Cassiopeia asked.
"I'm always happy to go back to Hogwarts Cassie. I'm still waiting for that painting you promised though." Albus said with a bright smile. In third year Cassiopeia sat with the boys for breakfast one morning. Cassiopeia was sorted into Ravenclaw not because of intelligence but for her creativity and individuality. She offered to paint him a sky full of stars featuring different constellations.
"I've been busy."
Albus chuckled. "Is that why you don't answer my brother's owls?"
Draco looked at Cassiopeia. "He said brother? As in a guy. A guy that has been writing to you."
"Draco. Honey, don't freak out. Besides she's not writing to him." Hermione kissed his cheek and he nodded.
"Do you like the boy though?" Draco asked in a calm tone.
"I might." She confessed in a hush tone. "But then there's.... never mind."
"What? Another boy?" Lyra asked giving her sister a wink.
Draco growled but stopped when Hermione kissed him. "Hermione?" Harry's voice came from the living room. Hermione and Draco left to see what he needed. Lyra and Cassie left to their room.
"What's my dad doing here?" Albus asked wanting to hit his head on the table repeatedly. Scorpius took his hand under the table and game him a comforting squeeze. Albus smiled at him gratefully and sighed. "I have to talk to him, don't I?" Scorpius nodded. "Be there for me?"
Scorpius smiled brightly. "Always."
The boys walked to the living room, Albus right behind Scorpius. "Al, can we talk?" Harry asked. Draco, Hermione, Ginny, Lily Luna, and James Sirius left. "Alone?"
"With all due respect sir I'm not leaving him. Might I remind you that he came over here last night." Scorpius sat on the couch to make his point clear.
"Alright then." Harry cleared his throat. "Al, I'm sorry if I said something to upset you but you shouldn't have ran away."
Albus sighed sadly. "Here I was thinking you were going to apologise."
"Albus you ran away." Harry reminded.
"Yeah yeah. I'm always wrong you're always right."
"It's not like that." Harry stated.
"Actually Mr.Potter." Scorpius spoke up. "You do make it seem like that. He just wants you to listen and understand him and I know you try. The thing is just that, you don't quite listen to him fully and tend to lose it when he says something that might upset you. Just listen to what he has to say."
"I'm sorry I do that Al." Harry sat down. "Tell me what you wanted to tell me."
"I just want you to be more understanding. That's all. I've gone to mum or Scorp after you don't listen to me. I wish you could just listen the first time around so I can talk to you more openly."
Harry stood up and hugged his son. "I'd like that."
James came in, "dad. Mr.Malfoy keeps looking at me like I did something wrong."
"You owl his daughter every day. What way do you want him to look at you?" Harry asked. "I'll talk to him." Harry patted Albus on the back and left.
Albus exhale and looked at Scorpius relieved. He ran to his arms and sighed. "Thank you so much."
Scorpius hugged back tightly. "You did it."
"We did it." Albus said resting his forehead on the other boy's forehead. "Now we just have to tell them about us."
"Another time. Let your dad get used to talking to you about anything." Scorpius pecked the boy's lips shyly and blushed.
Albus giggled and kissed him again. "This is going to be a good year."
