It's The Great Pumpkin, Alexander Lightwood!

-This is going to be a standalone story just in time for halloween! :D It may or maynot be entered into Maleclovely's halloween contest. :D-

Alec sat on Magnus' comfortable couch semi-watching a movie that had just begun on the television. Some big-headed child was acquiring a pumpkin with some blue dressed girl who then in turned lobotomized the orange thing. Truth be told, he wasn't really paying attention. He truthfully was just killing time while Magnus' was getting dressed. He continued to watch the show at least enjoying the black and white dog that was now on the screen. He reached into the bowl of random candies Magnus' had filled and opened up another piece of chocolate. He'd lost track of how many he'd eaten but he was starving. They were supposed to be going to some party where he'd been promised food, but since Magnus was taking forever, he'd been resigned to eating from the random bowl of sugary packets. He shut the tv off and let out a whine out to Magnus who was taking longer than normal.

"Magnus! Come out already! It's been too long!" he said out as Magnus' head popped out slightly from the bathroom.

"Oh Honey. I've BEEN out. For at least a couple of centuries." He laughed back and popped back in.

"You know what I meant!" he said out in defeat and lay back against the couch. At this rate. He'd probably fall asleep waiting for the warlock to finish glamorizing himself up. A couple of more minutes passed when Alec shot up at the sound of tapping on the door. Strange. They weren't expecting anyone. Why would someone come around this hour? He looked towards the clock on the wall that read 7pm. A little late for a random social call. The louder tapping continued as Alec grabbed for a weapon and slowly opened the door. He froze when he saw what was on the other side. Spiderman? Why was there a 3-foot-tall spider man standing in their doorway?

"COOOL SWORD MISTER!!" came the excited squeals of said Spiderman and what looked to be a princess and some girl dressed in a black dress and pointy hat.

Alec stared at them for several seconds trying to comprehend.

"Trick or Treat!" came the happy cries of what he was slowly recognizing of being tiny mundane children.

"What?" he asked at them.

"Trick or treat! Come on mister! Our mommy is waiting downstairs. Can we have candy now?" asked the princess of the group.

"Who is it darling?" came Magnus from close behind.

"Magnus. There is a Spiderman and a princess and I think a warlock- "

"I'm a witch!" corrected the third child at him.

"....and a witch...... standing at our door asking for treats or tricks."

Magnus let out a laugh and grabbed the bowl, a little amused that it was far lighter than when he'd last seen it. He stepped around the confused Alec and peered at the children.

"Well don't you all look absolutely marvelous" he cooed at them. "What do you say?" he asked.

The children let out excited giggles chanting a rhyme about treats and smelly feet. Magnus laughed and handed them each several pieces of candy before waving them off and only the sounds of laughter and happiness were moving down the stairs.

"What was that all about?" Asked Alec once the door was closed and for the first time looked at Magnus' outfit. "And why do you look like a feathery rainbow? No offense, but you look like a parrot"

Magnus let out another laugh and turned in a circle to fully give Alexander a glimpse of his masterpiece. A multitude of colorful feathers, glitter, and vibrant red material was on him. "That is because I AM a fabulous Parrot!" he shouted out. Since he couldn't go back to Peru he might as well bring a little Peru to New York!

Alec scratched the back of his head. "Ok. So better question then, why are you a parrot?"

"For the Halloween party of course, you silly nephilim!"

"Halloween?" Alec was only getting more confused. What was he going off about today?

"Alexander. Surely you know what Halloween is? Right?"

"No. Never heard of it. What is it? And does it have something to do with the mundane children in disguises?"

Magnus' jaw dropped as he looked over at his darling shadowhunter. He knew Alec had been sheltered, knew his childhood had been mostly filled with training and missions, but NO HALLOWEEN?

"Alexander. Halloween in short is a mundane holiday where people dress up. Long answer it's a celebration of spirits, and things that are scary, also a lot of fun. Parents dress children in adorable outfits and take them out for trick or treating where they get candy and see other people in costume. Adults do it as well, dressing up in costumes and attending parties or watching movies. Some mundanes even go as far as creating places of terror and pay for others to scare them senseless. For the most part people go out asking for treats such as candy or play pranks in exchange known as tricks."

"That sounds so.... Weird" said alec trying to make sense of it all. "What's the fun in that?" he asked.

"Well. It's a day to pretend. People get to be silly, or scary, or cute or whatever they wish to be. It's almost like a day to just be a child. It's really quite enjoyable. The party we are going to this evening is a Halloween party! A lot of people will be there in costumes and just enjoying themselves."

"Wait. So, shouldn't I be in a costume?" he asked for the first time looking down at his usual black attire.

"Well. You could, but I was so sure you'd disagree. Halloween time is also very common for black clothing. With what you are wearing and even your bow you'd fit right in. I didn't think much about trying to force you into a costume. I mean. If you'd like we still have time. I can magic up a costume for you"

Alec thought about it. This Halloween seemed amusing. Pranks, candy, and seeing more people in costumes really called his attention. Perhaps of all mundane holidays this one made so much more sense than the one about the rabbit and eggs, and even seemed nicer than Christmas. He was surprisingly excited about this.

"You know what Magnus. I would like a costume!" he announced as Magnus was a little surprised but now more excited by tenfold.

"That's wonderful Alexander. So, what would you like to be?" he asked already imagining the types of costumes he'd like to see him in.

"Oh. Right. Um. Are there any rules for Halloween costumes?" he asked innocently.

"Well. No. You can wear pretty much whatever you wish. As long as all the main parts are covered. Hate for an indecent exposure charge. Most people, pick something cool. Something fun. A lot of people take this a chance to pretend to be something or someone they love." Magnus explained as Alec's eyes lit up.

"Perfect! I know exactly what I want to be! Wait right here!" he announced before running back into their room. Magnus smiled and sat down on the couch to wait. This evening was already building itself to be SO much better than he could ever hope.

Almost 20 minutes had passed when Alexander finally emerged in a look that Magnus couldn't help but double take. He was wearing his clothes! A huge collection of rings on his hands, a tight pair of jeans, a brightly colored shirt that hugged his chest so very nicely. His hair was sticking up much more than usual, but most shockingly, it looked like he'd poured an entire bottle of glitter into his hair. He didn't look bad, but he looked so absolutely strange.

"Magnus! I need your help with the eye makeup stuff. Your little pencil thing is going to take out my eyeball!" he said out breaking Magnus' from the trance he was in.

"Alexander" Magnus started, but was a little lost for words. "What are you?" he finally squeaked out.

"I'm you!" he said excitedly. "You said it's a day to be something you love. Well I don't love anything more than you. It seemed fitting!" he said out a huge smile on his lips.

Magnus couldn't help but feel flattered and amused all at once as he closed in the distance and smashed his lips against his love's. This was perhaps the greatest compliment anyone had ever given him. Even if Alexander looked like a hot mess with too much glitter.

"You're me?" he finally asked out and he'd given Alec a moment to breath.

"Yeah. Is that ok?" asked the blue-eyed boy cautiously, maybe he should have asked first.

"Absolutely! I love it. You look great. I'm so happy I get to be your first Halloween costume!" he smiled. He met Alec's eyes that looked just as excited as the shadowhunter felt.

"Come on love, let's get your make up done. I cannot WAIT to show you off at this party" he stated.

The pair made their way into the bathroom so Magnus could finish of the look. And for someone who had NEVER celebrated the day before. Or even known about it 45minutes ago. Alec was sure; this was the BEST Halloween ever.

-So there ya go! :D Happy Halloween everyone! :D let me now what you think!-
