Chapter XIII: Aftermath
Professor Goodwitch quickly repairs any damages caused during the fight while Professors Port and Oobleck hunt down any Grimm that might have strayed away from the main fight. In the meantime, the Atlesian warship had deployed several airships equipped with medical supplies. Setting up around the courtyard, the personal tended to any wounded civilians. You were currently seated outside one of the airships as several medical personal examined your wound. The head doctor of the ship gave your shoulder a quick once over, before nodding and heading back to the ship. He returned several minutes later with what appeared to be some sort of gun.
"You can go ahead and remove that." He tells you.
Nodding, you uncurl the rebar and slowly pull it out of your shoulder, hissing in pain. The wound immediately starts bleed profusely, but the Atlas Doctor takes the gun and places it against the wound. Instead of a bullet, the gun secretes a light blue paste which covers the wound, smoking as it seals shut. Moving to your back, he places more of the paste on the exit wound and steps back, allowing a nurse to wrap your shoulder.
"This should keep the wound sealed while it heals. It contains antibiotics to ensure the wound doesn't get infected." He takes a clipboard from one of the nurses and begins taking notes. "Give it about two weeks to heal, then wash the sealant off with this." He hands you a small bottle of pale green liquid. "While the sealant may prevent you from bleeding out and expedite the healing process, make sure you don't overexert yourself. It's still going to take some time to heal completely, and I'm sure it'll leave a nasty scar."
"That's fine." You say. "Nothing I'm not used to."
Thanking him, the Doctor walks off to check on another patient. Slipping your robes back on, you look up to see Teams RWBY, JNPR, and CFVY approaching you.
"How are you feeling (F/N)?" Velvet asks as Yang moves to sit next to you.
"I'm fine."
"Your shoulder feeling okay?" Ruby asks.
"Don't worry so much." Coco says, peering at you over her sunglasses. "He's tough. He can take it. Besides, I'm sure it's nothin' new to him."
"How's everyone else doing?" You ask as Yang unnecessarily helps you to your feet.
"Ren's got a bruised rib, but other than that we're fine." Jaune informs you.
"What about you guys?" You ask Team RWBY.
"We're good." Says Ruby. "Weiss' ice shield managed to take the blunt of the crash. What about you?"
"I feel like I was hit by a train." You chuckle, causing your teammates to laugh. Teams CFVY and JNPR however, look at one another confused.
"So, when are you going to tell us what happened here?" Coco asks.
"Yes," Pyrrha nods, "we'd quite like to know that as well."
You stand back and allow Team RWBY to explain, only jumping in occasionally to add something they forgot or correct something they misremembered.
"Aw man." Nora groans. "You guys get to have all the fun!"
Laughing a bit, the thirteen of you all board a Bullhead heading back to Beacon. Landing at the school, you all depart the ship to see Professor Ozpin waiting for you in front of the statue that stands before the school's entrance. Exchanging a nervous glance with your team, you receive a punch on the shoulder (you reach up and grab your shoulder in pain) from Coco.
"Man looks like you guys are in some serious trouble." She laughs. "See you guys around." She says as she and Team CFVY turn and make their way towards the dormitories. Team JNPR gives you a sad look before following Team CFVY.
"Uh, hey Professor Ozpin." Ruby says, poking her index fingers together.
"Hello. I see your mission experienced some unexpected complications." He says, taking a sip from his mug.
"Are we in some kind of trouble?" Yang asks.
Ozpin examines her through his spectacles before responding. "I see no reason as to why you should be punished. While you were unsuccessful at thwarting the plan to invade the city with Grimm, you were able to uncover an underground crime network, helped apprehend one of Vale's most wanted criminals, and prevented any serious casualties from befalling the citizens of Vale."
You all release a sigh of relief.
"Normally I would ask you five to accompany me to my office and explain the events that lead to the Grimm invasion, but you've all had a long day and I'm sure you're all very tired. I'll collect the information from Doctor Oobleck. You five get some rest."
You all thank the headmaster and turn to leave.
"And children." He calls after you, causing you to stop and turn. "Good job." He smiles.
Turning around, you take a seat at the edge of the cliff, dangling your feet off the edge. Your teammates come to join you, accompanied by Zwei who sits between the two sisters. Yang sits on your left and rests her head on your shoulder. Wrapping an arm around her and holding her close, your lean your head against hers. Together, the five of you watch the sun beginning to set over the city, painting the sky shades of orange and peach.
"Well," Yang says. "We did it."
"We did it." Blake agrees from your right.
"If we don't get extra credit for that, I'm going to be seriously disappointed."
"Weiss, a two headed snake literally crushed a bakery. I wouldn't count on it." Yang says.
"Considering the circumstances, we should be thankful we aren't in any trouble." You say.
"Plus, I mean, we didn't solve everything." Ruby says. "A lot of people were hurt, and, we still don't even know why they did this, or who that mystery girl was."
"Well," Weiss says, "not every story has a neat and tidy ending."
"We might not have all the answers, but we do have a lot of dangerous people behind bars." You nod your head in agreement with Blake's words. "And I think that's something we can be proud of."
"Yeah." Ruby grins. "And if anyone tries something like this again, we'll be there to stop them."
"Don't grow too overconfident little flower." You warn.
Yang yawns and lies on her back, lamely tossing her arms in the air. "Yay, teamwork, comradery. Go guys, go team, alright, good job." She leans up on her elbows. "So, what now?"
"I'd suggest training for the tournament, but, I think we have that covered at this point."
"So then..."
"Time for bed?" Ruby suggests.
There comes a murmur of agreement at these words and the five of you rise to head back to the dormitories. Taking the elevator up to the top floor, you wait for Yang as she pauses outside Team RWBY's doorway.
"Hey guys." She rubs her arm. "I'm going to lay down with (F/N)." She says.
Ruby looks disappointed and Weiss interrogates her, asking what she means by 'lie down'. Blake however, simply nods her head and walks into the room. Kissing Yang on the cheek, you whisper into her ear that you'll be waiting for her in your room, and that you have a drawer cleared out for her. Blushing, Yang walks into her room to collect a change of clothes while you make towards you room. Leaving your door open a crack as an invitation for Yang to enter, you pick up a picture from your nightstand. Blake took it, it's of you and Yang the night of the dance, arms wrapped around one another and gazing lovingly into each other's eyes. Staring at it fondly, you take off the remains of your singed black robes and bottoms and toss them in the trash. Standing in your thigh length undergarments, you stretch out your muscles before hearing your door open.
Turning around, you see Yang entering your room carrying a pile of clothes. Closing the door behind her, she takes a moment to look you up and down, eyes lingering over your toned chest and abdomen. Smiling, she walks towards you and places a chaste kiss on the lips before telling you she's going to the bathroom to change. Carefully replacing Rhino's Charge on its stand and then tending to your bonsai tree, you look over your shoulder when you hear Yang exit the bathroom. Your face heats up when you see her standing in only her form fitting t-shirt and panties.
When she sees you staring, she turns her face to hide her blush. Rising to your feet, you walk over to her and cup her face in your hands. Kissing her passionately, you take her hand and lead her to the bed. Throwing back the covers, the two of you crawl into your bed facing each other and lay your heads down on the soft pillows.
"You know, Spring Break's coming up in a few days." She says, to which you simply nod. "Where are you gonna go?"
"I don't know." You say truthfully. "Beacon's been my home for the last few months. I don't have anywhere to go, other than Sun Zhang."
"What will you do?"
You shrug. "I might just set up camp in the woods for the two weeks Beacon's closed."
"Well, I was thinking, maybe you could stay with me." She says blushing. "I understand if you don't want to, and I'm not trying to replace anywhere as a home, but..."
You press a finger to her lips. "It doesn't matter where I am. Beacon, Sun Zhang, the middle of nowhere. Wherever you are Yang, that's where my home is. You're my home now."
"So, you'll stay with me?" She asks.
"Always."
Reaching up to kiss you, she turns around and wraps your arm around her middle, allowing you to spoon her. Turning out the light, you place your other arm under your pillow and close your eyes. You hear Yang yawn as she snuggles closer to you.
"Good." She says sleepily. "I want to introduce you to my dad."
Your eyes snap open when she says this. You try to get her attention but she's already asleep. Laying your head back down, you try to get some rest, but it's no use. Your eyes refuse to close, and you lie awake for hours panicking.
She wants me to meet her dad?!
