Chapter 42: End of The Beginning
A/N: While, you face off with Adam, Pyrrha faces Cinder in one final confrontation. However, things go bad incredibly fast.
Ozpin and Cinder clashed weapons against each other. After a clash, Cinder slid back, using her hand to melt the floor below her, and summoned ice crystals from the newly-formed substance and hurled them toward Ozpin. Ozpin deflected them all by moving at superhuman speed, and then darted forward and delivered a bunch of strikes at Cinder with his cane, with the last blow launching her back. Cinder then floated mid air by unleashing her Maiden power. Ozpin then slammed his cane into the floor, forming a spherical force-field around him. Cinder then unleashed a powerful fire blast, with Ozpin leaping into the attack with the barrier protecting him. As he closed in on her, a short explosion occurred. Near the docks outside of Beacon, Air buses were picking up the last few civilians and students. Port and Oobleck oversaw the evacuation.
Port: That's it! Everybody on board! This is a mandatory evacuation!
Oobleck: A safe zone has been established in Vale! Please, remain calm and listen to Atlas personnel!
Weiss stared at what was in front of her, in disbelief. As Ruby came running down the path, Zwei barked to alert Weiss to her leader's presence, and Weiss turned around to greet her.
Weiss: Ruby!
Ruby: Oh, I found you!
Weiss: Ruby, where have you-
Ruby: Don't worry, I'm fine! What's going on?
Unsure of what to say, Weiss lowered her gaze sadly.
Ruby: Weiss? What is it?
Weiss stepped aside, giving Ruby a clear view of Blake and Yang lying on the ground. Both girls had bandages wrapped around their wounds, and one was unconscious. Behind them sat Nora and Ren, who were too battered and bruised to fight. Blake reached over and placed her hand on Yang's.
Blake: I'm sorry.
She said as she teared up. Ruby reached out and opened her mouth to say something, but in her emotional state, she didn't know what to say.
Blake: I'm so sorry.
Ruby: Yang...
Sun soon walked over.
Sun: Hey. She's gonna be okay. The soldiers have a ship ready to take you guys to Vale.
Nora: But (Y/N), Jaune and Pyrrha are still missing.
Nora attempted to stand, but she quickly sat back down, groaning and holding her side.
Ruby: What!?
Sun: Look, guys, that giant Grimm is circling the school! Even the White Fang are pulling out! We all have to go, now!
Ren: We're not ...leaving!
He stood up, but then fell to his knees.
Ren: Ugh!
Sun turned and looked worried at Blake.
Ruby: I'll find them ...I'll find them, and I'll bring them back.
Weiss: No! We will find them.
She turned to Nora and Ren.
Weiss: Watch after Blake and Yang. We'll be back.
Ruby and Weiss then ran back toward Beacon, while Sun watched them go.
Sun: You better be! Idiots.
Back at Beacon, broken and slashed tables and objects were sent flying as the battle with You and Adam commenced. Adam was fast, but what he didn't know was than you were faster.
Adam: I find it pretty surprising for someone of Frieza's race is willing to risk his own for someone like Blake.
(Y/N): Don't look at the actions of what that mistake did and think it represents my whole kind. After all, I'm very positive not ever Faunus are a bunch of damn terrorists!
Adam: You know nothing about the struggles my kind have had to endure for you to call the White Fang Terrorist!
(Y/N): I know full well about what Faunus had been through. But preforming terroristic acts, playing parts in madness like this and harming innocents? You're only making the image of Faunus worse!
Adam: Humans are anything but innocent! You and many others are just blind to see it.
(Y/N): Oh the irony of your words.
You said before you charged at the sword welding Faunus with a ki blade ready. Outside of Beacon Tower, Jaune and Pyrrha were running out of the front door as the muffled sounds of Ozpin and Cinder's fight could be heard.
Jaune: Okay, I think I have Glynda's number.
He walked away, looking at his Scroll.
Jaune: Oh, where is it?
Pyrrha turned and stared silently at Beacon Tower. Jaune's voice soon broke her concentration.
Jaune: Pyrrha? What was all of that?
She turned to look at Jaune.
Pyrrha: I...
Their conversation was interrupted by an explosion, followed by Cinder using fire to fly up through the elevator shaft. The two teens stared at the tower in surprise.
Jaune: But ... Ozpin...
Pyrrha: There's no time.
She shook her head, then looked at Jaune, quickly adopting a determined tone.
Pyrrha: Go. Get to Vale and call for help.
Jaune: Huh? What are you gonna do?
Pyrrha slowly turned her head to stare up at the top of Beacon Tower. Following her gaze, Jaune realized what she planned to do.
Jaune: No ...No, Pyrrha, you can't. You saw how powerful she is! Pyrrha, I won't let you do....
Suddenly, Pyrrha grabbed Jaune's head in both hands and silenced him with a long kiss on the lips. After a moment of hesitation, he gently pulled her in and returned the kiss, while Pyrrha slightly raised her foot behind her. She then pulled away, ending the kiss, and stared into his eyes, one hand on his cheek and the other on his chest.
Pyrrha: I'm sorry.
She then used her Semblance on his armor, pushing him directly into a nearby locker, which slammed shut from the impact.
Jaune: Hey! Wait! Stop, stop! Pyrrha, please don't do this!
While Jaune pleaded, Pyrrha walked over to the locker and began typing coordinates into it. She looked him in the eyes one last time, before stepping back and watching the locker fly away. Once it vanished into the distance, she clenched her fists and, once again, gave a determined demeanor as she walked toward the tower. Once she stepped through the entrance, she ran to the nearest elevator and used her Semblance to force the doors open. Inside, she found that Cinder had left a large hole in the floor and roof of the elevator on her way up. Pyrrha stepped inside the elevator, closed her eyes, and began mustering all of her strength. The elevator began shaking. She focused even harder, straining herself, until the elevator began a quick ascent toward the top. Meanwhile, Ruby and Weiss were on their way back to Beacon campus, when Weiss' Scroll began ringing.
Weiss: It's Jaune!
She answered her scroll.
Weiss: Where are you?
Jaune was In the street somewhere in Vale. Ruby and Weiss could hear panic in his voice.
Weiss! Please, you have to stop her!
Weiss: What!?
Jaune: Pyrrha! She's going after that woman at the top of the tower! She doesn't stand a chance!
Weiss: Jaune, what are you talking about!? Where are you?
Jaune: Don't worry about me!
He yelled as he leaned against a wall before speaking at a normal volume but his voice full of sadness now.
Jaune: Please, you have to save Pyrrha.
Weiss: We will. Are you okay?
With one last flare of emotion, Jaune screamed and threw his Scroll onto the ground, breaking it. He collapsed onto his hands and knees, crying.
Jaune: Please...
Weiss: Jaune? Jaune!
The ground shook, alerting Ruby and Weiss to the danger that approached them. The Wyvern flew around while circling Beacon Tower with black ooze dripping from it. It perched on one of the arches stemming from the tower and uttered a screech. Ruby drew Crescent Rose, shifting it into it's scythe form in preparation for the Grimm spawning from the ooze.
Ruby: I have a plan.
Weiss drew Myrtenaster.
Weiss: You always do.
At the top of the tower, in Ozpin's office, a large amount of smoke flowed out from the elevator, masking the entrance of Cinder. She confidently strode to the window across the room with a smirk on her face. As if sensing her presence, the Wyvern climbed up to the top and peered at her through the window before screeching.
Cinder: Shhhh ...This is your home now.
The Wyvern stared at her and uttered a shorter, quieter screech. Cinder backed away from the window and held her hand out to the side, creating a fireball in her palm. The sound of sparks distracted her, and she looked over her shoulder at the elevator with her fireball now dissipated.

(Skip to 0:44 of the song).
After a few moments, the sparks came to a stop, and immediately upon the elevator doors' opening, Pyrrha's spear flew toward Cinder, who casually leaned to her right to dodge. The spear was soon followed by Pyrrha's shield, backed by Pyrrha herself, and Cinder put her arms up, blocking it and pushing it away. While Cinder used fire to hover in the air, Pyrrha called her spear and shield back to her with polarity, staring down her opponent. Cinder gained a fiery glow around her eyes and swiped her hand through the air, attacking Pyrrha with an arc of fire. She then shot a stream of fire, which Pyrrha dived over. Six small fireballs formed in a circle behind Cinder, and she sent another streak of fire toward Pyrrha, who barely avoided it. Once again, the Maiden sent a stream of fire the young redhead's way, but this time, Pyrrha blocked it with her shield. She leapt toward Cinder, powering through the flame, and as soon as the fire stopped, she spun around and slashed Cinder's arm with her spear. However, Cinder caught the blade and pulled, turning Pyrrha around. Cinder slammed her palm into Pyrrha's stomach, and fire burst forth, blasting Pyrrha away. Back on the ground, your battle with Adam continued. You gained minimum cuts from his sword but still landed some blows on him as well, even managing to get a good punch in his ribs. Adam was currently staggering in his footsteps a bit, but was still on his feet.
(Y/N): Ready to give up?!
Adam: It'll take a lot more than that to take me down!
Adam charged at you and swung his blade at you once more. But You dodged the swing of the blade. Even after continued attempts, You still dodged.
(Y/N): Having trouble?
Adam growled and tried aiming for your tail, which you used to wrap around the blade.
(Y/N): Worse mistake trying to come for your opponent's tail when they're on their guard!
You lifted both Adam and the blade off of the ground before tossing them against a wall. Speaking of which, Pyrrha slammed into a wall and fell to her hands and knees. She then stood back up and faced Cinder with determination still in her eyes. Cinder propelled herself forward with flames jetting from her hands, smirking once again. She attempted to slam into Pyrrha's abdomen, but Pyrrha leapt into the air above her and wrapped her arm around Cinder's. As Cinder slowed to a stop, Pyrrha positioned herself to place her feet on the wall behind her and pushed off, flipping herself over Cinder. She used the momentum to flip and toss Cinder across the floor. Cinder landed on her front and, as she slid, she pushed off the floor to get back on her feet and performed a back-handspring. Her smirk turned into a look of slight concern upon the sight of Pyrrha charging forward to slam her shield into Cinder's abdomen and push her over. As Cinder stumbled backwards, Pyrrha hit Cinder's right hand with the blunt end of her spear, then slashed Cinder's left hand with the spear's blade. She then spun around and slashed across Cinder's abdomen and legs. On the ground, Adam tried his best to get back up, but was met with a kick to his stomach. He backed up before spitting out blood.
Adam: Bastard!
(Y/N): Me, No. But you, certainly.
Adam activated his semblance like he had done before with Yang. However, after Adam passed you, he was met with a slash across his chest from one of your ki blades. Adam's sword did manage to cut your cheek as a small trail of blood rolled down. At the top of the tower, Pyrrha spun around to attack again, but Cinder performed a backflip whilst kicking Pyrrha, with flames trailing behind her foot. The kick knocked Pyrrha into the air, and Pyrrha quickly right herself. She flipped her spear in her grip, held it back, and then tossed it toward Cinder while firing the gun mechanism. Six fireballs appeared around Cinder again, but they dissipated when Cinder backhanded the spear away. Pyrrha's shield then flew toward her, and she hit it away, as well. After being momentarily distracted by the shield, Cinder returned her attention to Pyrrha and gained a look of slight surprise, then annoyance. Pyrrha launched herself toward Cinder and puts her arms around her, tackling her. The two turned each other in mid-air, fighting to be the one on top. Upon their landing, the room filled with a white cloud. When the dust settles, Pyrrha had Cinder in a choke hold and Cinder was barely managing to hold Pyrrha's spear away from her neck. The Wyvern flew away, and Cinder's eyes begin glowing as she applied heat to the spear in her hands. Her grip tightened as she heated the spear more and more, staring over her shoulder at Pyrrha. Upon hearing a loud screech, Cinder turned her gaze ahead and smirked, while Pyrrha gave a look of fear. While Pyrrha set her focus on the Wyvern that was flying toward the tower, Cinder finally snapped the spear's melted blade into pieces. Just before the Dragon slammed it's wing into the roof of Ozpin's office, Cinder elbowed Pyrrha in the abdomen. The room filled with a green glow as the windows shattered and Pyrrha went flying across the room. Giant cogs and debris came crashing down in the office, and the structure containing the CCT's transmitter fell to the ground outside, in pieces. All the way from the ground, You felt the rumbling of the tower as parts of the roof of it were hitting the ground.
(Y/N): Shit! That was from Ozpin's office.
You said as You storming off, but a panting and bleeding Adam stood up and yelled out to You.
Adam: I'm not done with you yet!
(Y/N): Well, I'm done with you. Stay down before you get more than just a slash.
Adam growled in frustration as he was ready to lunge at you. At the top of the tower, Pyrrha crawled toward her shield, while Cinder watched on from her position levitating off the floor with flame jetting from her feet. While looking for a way to distract Cinder, Pyrrha noticed Ozpin's collapsed metal desk and used her polarity to throw it at the Maiden, knocking her to the floor. She then quickly grabbed her shield and rolled across the floor, sitting up on her knees and holding the shield up. With a burst of flame, Cinder threw the desk off of herself and levitated in the air. Pyrrha rolled out of the way of two streams of fire that Cinder sent her way and attempted to block a third. However, the force of the third sent Pyrrha tumbling backward, and the floor momentarily caught fire while Pyrrha rolled to her feet. From behind the wall of flame, Pyrrha threw her shield at Cinder, who confidently backhanded it away. She then looked up in surprise to see a multitude of giant cogs floating in the air around her. Using her polarity, Pyrrha directed her shield to knock Cinder's feet from beneath her and then slammed a cog down on Cinder's stomach to pin her to the floor. She called her shield back to her arm, then brought the cogs together into a pile on top of Cinder. However, Cinder blasted them away with a powerful burst of fire, sending them in all directions. One of the cogs flew toward Pyrrha, who raised her shield to block, in vain. The force of the impact slammed her into the remains of a wall, taking away the last of her Aura. On the ground below, Outside, Ruby and Weiss fight off Grimm.
Ruby: We've gotta hurry!
Weiss looks around for a moment, before casting a series of glyphs up the side of the tower.
Weiss: You can do this.
Ruby ran forward, then using her Semblance to propel herself up to the first glyph. She then sprinted up the wall, the glyphs propelling her forward and keeping her from falling off. Inside, Adam stood all the way up with his sword ready.
Adam: Damn you!
He yelled as he tried one last attempt to kill you.
(Y/N): No, damn you!
You fired a blast, which knocked Adam through several walls, out of the building and outside, where he received massive damage before passing out. You walked out and looked down at Adam.
(Y/N): You brought it on yourself.
You then noticed a familiar looking piece of metal laying on the ground with the rest of the debris.
(Y/N): Huh?
At the Top of the tower, Cinder formed an obsidian bow in her hand. As she raised it up and drew back an obsidian arrow, Pyrrha charged forward, spun, and threw her shield at her. Cinder lost the arrow, which shattered upon impact with the side of the shield. However, as the fragments part wayed above and below the shield, they glowed orange and rejoined each other on the other side. The fragments melted into each other and cooled into the shape of an arrow, which continued on it's path directly into Pyrrha's ankle. Pyrrha collapsed in pain. She attempted to pull herself to her feet, but the pain was too much. Both ends of the arrow break off, making removal impossible. She turned over onto her hands and knees as Cinder moved to stand in front of her.
Cinder: It's unfortunate you were promised a power that was never truly yours.
She kneeled down and lifted Pyrrha's chin, staring into her eyes and smiling.
Cinder: But take comfort in knowing that I will use it in ways you could never have imagined.
Pyrrha pulled away, sat up and matched Cinder's stare.
Pyrrha: Do you believe in destiny?
Cinder frowned and narrowed her eyes.
Cinder: Yes.

Cinder stood back up and formed an obsidian bow and arrow again. She pulled back the arrow, lowering the bow to aim at her weakened opponent. On the ground, You were still looking at the familiar looking metal piece that was on the ground. You picked it up and got a good look.
(Y/N): Wait, this metal piece looks just like ............Oh NO!
You quickly dropped the metal piece and flew as fast as you could to the top of the tower. Nearby, Ruby finally reached the top of the tower, landing in a kneeling position. She looked upon the scene, seeing Pyrrha sitting with her eyes closed, accepting the fate that awaited her. Cinder looses the arrow, which plants itself directly in the center of Pyrrha's chest, just at the very moment you had finally reached the top to see it.
(Y/N): No.......
Ruby watched in horror as Pyrrha gasped in pain, the wound in her chest emitting a red glow. Cinder approached her fallen foe and placed a hand on Pyrrha's head, using her Maiden powers to flash incinerate her. Pyrrha instantly ceased all movement and sound, her body glowed orange and then scattered as embers. Her headdress remains in Cinder's hand, and the villain drops it on the floor. You gripped your fist in anger and let out a yell as you flew at Cinder.
(Y/N): YOU BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!
You swung your fist at Cinder, who blocked the punch.
Ruby's silver eyes filled with tears as she clenched her fists, curls her arms to her body, and then suddenly flung her arms out to the sides and began to levitate slightly off the ground as Brilliant white light flew from her eyes as she screamed.
Ruby: PYRRHAAAAAA!!!!
The white light enveloped her, spreading out to the Wyvern, Cinder and You.
Cinder: WHAT?!
(Y/N): NANI?!
The light engulfed everything before turning black for you.
(TimeSkip).
You slowly started to wake up after being out for what felt like years.
(Y/N): Ugh........
You soon heard a voice.
???: Good, he's starting to wake up.
You then heard another voice that sounded much more familiar.
???: But how is he feeling?
(Y/N): V .....V ......Velvet?
You opened your eyes and saw Velvet and Coco standing next what looked like some of the few soldiers who worked for the Arcosian army.
Velvet: Thank goodness, You're alive.
(Y/N): What happened?
You said while looking to see Ridley.
Ridley: We were watching the whole tournament on the one of our ship's systems. We saw the terrible things going on and we thought that we should head to remnant to try and assist you. Grimm attacked one of the escaping ships for the citizens and students. We were able to keep the the beast from destroying it.
Coco: The only problem was that we didn't make it on. Me and Velvet were trying to hold the Grimm off until these guys arrived.
You slowly got up from the table.
(Y/N): Some many things happened. We went through so many things until......
You remembered the last thing that happened before being engulfed in the light.
(Y/N): Pyrrha!
Coco: Huh?
(Y/N): She and Cinder were fighting on the top of the tower. But ......I didn't realize it until I was too late.
Velvet: Y ...You mean she's dead?
(Y/N): Yes ...I saw before my own eyes as Cinder shot her in the heart and she turned into ashes.
Tears formed in Velvelt's eyes.
Ridley: Sir, when we arrived and sent some of our troops to go down and rescue any survivors, we didn't find any humans or faunas. However, we did found the parts to the mechanical girl that was killed in the tournament.
He said as he pointed to a table where parts of Penny were placed down on it. You let out a low sigh.
Ridley: We couldn't locate her core. But with some of the materials on the ship, we could be able to supply her with a replacement.
(Y/N): I see.....
Ridley: We're sorry for everything that happened, sir. We're currently trying to find Ruby and the others. But our trackers have suffered a great deal and even the engines sustained some major damage during our arrival. It's a miracle that they were at least still able to work. But the ship itself is moving at a rather slow pace. It will take quite some time until either one of them could be fixed.
(Y/N): And I can't be able to track them via their energy since their energy level isn't high enough for me to differentiate them from anyone else on the planet. I only hope they're all alright.
In Different locations, Ruby was heading to haven with the 3 remaining members of Team JNPR. Weiss had to return back to her home by her father, Blake had ran off on her own as she felt terrible after what happened to everyone....especially Yang. And for Yang, She was back at home with her dad while not only dealing with the loss of her arm, but so much more.
Coco: How did it all come to this?
She said let with a somewhat frustrated sigh.
(Y/N): Not sure. All I do know is that I fully intent of making Cinder pay 10 fold for what she did!
Ridley: What are you suggesting?
(Y/N): Cinder may have gotten herself a power boost. But Arcosians can do that too. More so!
Coco: You're thinking about training?
Ridley: Training?! But Sir, by the very moment you were born, you posses such already great power.
(Y/N): I know. But after what happened, a frightening feeling is ringing in the back of my head.
Velvet: You mean there could be someone out there even worse than Cinder.
(Y/N): Yes. And Most Possibly more Powerful.
(Meanwhile).
In a darkened landscape, a single pale skinned woman with red and black eyes was standing by herself.
Salem: Excellent. Our first Phase has been complete. Our next step shall begin very soon.
She then looked over her shoulder to the kneeling being a few feet behind her. The being soon looked up to her with a smirk.
Frost: Indeed.
A/N: The worst has yet to come.
