A/N: Without anyone knowing or being aware of, Cinder and her group had been observing most of the fighting skills you had shown off so far.

You were sitting with the other students in Glynda's class. Pyrrha had just finished a sparring match with all of team CRDL.

Glynda: And that's the match.

Cardin: Lucky shot.

Cardin said before he collapsed.

Glynda: Well done, Miss Nikos. You should have no problem qualifying for the tournament.

Pyrrha: Thank you, professor.

Glynda was soon tapping her Scroll.

Glynda: Alright, now I know that's a tough act to follow, but we have time for one more sparring match.

She said as she looked around at the observing students.

Glynda: Any volunteers? Ms. Belladonna?

Blake slammed her book shut as she looked wide eyed at Glynda.

Glynda: You've been rather docile for the past few classes. Why don't you....

Mercury then raised his hand.

Mercury: I'll do it.

Glynda: Mercury, is it? Very well, let's find you an opponent.

Mercury: Actually, I wanna fight... him.

He said as he pointed at you.

(Y/N): Me?

Glynda: I don't think that's a wise choice. (Y/N) would be a bit much for you. I recommend you choose another partner.

(Y/N): No, I don't really mind honestly.

Glynda sighed under her breath before speaking.

Glynda: Very well then. If you both may come down.

You and Mercury both got up from your seats and walked to the arena where Glynda was standing at. She then whispered to you.

Glynda: Are you very positive that you want to be doing this? Many are very aware about the strength you and your species possess. Even the most skilled students might have an issue.

You soon whispered back to her.

(Y/N): Don't worry. I'll just lower my power and hold back. That way he has a much fairer chance in all this.

Glynda soon sighed again.

Glynda: Alright. Just don't overdo it.

You and Mercury entered the arena and stood before each other on the opposite sides. The sparring match began with Mercury going in with an attempted kick to the side. However, you raised your arm up and blocked the incoming kick. You quickly replied by swinging your fist and landing a hit near the chest, knocking Mercury onto the ground for a moment. He quickly got back up and was able to just barely dodge a swing from your tail. You both traded blows with each other before kicking Mercury a few feet away. While the sparring was all going on, Ruby turned Emerald, who was sitting in the seat behind her.

Ruby: Hey, your friend's doing pretty good.

Emerald gave a fake smile before then rolling her eyes once Ruby's back was turned. Back at the arena, Mercury was unleashing a series of powerful strikes. All of which that you had either blocked or dodged. The last strike got you in the face. However, it did little to any affect to you except for maybe pushing you back a foot away. You and Mercury looked to each other before you smirked as your tail wrapped around one of his legs and knocked him back onto the ground. He got up once again and did a flip above you. He landed a few feet away from you with his back turned. He was attempting to land a punch at you. However, you got his arm in a lock and you then flipped him onto his back. You were in a battle stance, waiting for him to get up and make another move. However, right as he got back up, he soon spoke.

Mercury: I forfeit.

(Y/N): W....... Wait what? What do you mean you forfeit? Our matched barely even got started.

Mercury: Eh, what's the point? We're clearly leagues way apart from each other.

Glynda: In that case ...(Y/N) is the victor of the match.

Emerald smirked while Mercury sneered smugly. This made you give a bit of a confused after seeing this.

Glynda: Next time, you may want to think a little harder before choosing an opponent.

Mercury: I'll be sure to do that.

The alarm for the bell soon rung and Blake suddenly jolted before she left the room.

Glynda: That is all for today. And remember, the dance is this weekend. But you all have your first mission on Monday. I will not accept any excuses.

You started to walk out of the room with the rest of the students. As you all left, Mercury stopped beside Emerald.

Mercury: Learning is so much fun.

Outside the room, Sun's team, team SSSN, were standing at the entrance as you and Team RWBY walked past them. Sun noticed Blake and ran after her.

Sun: Hey, Blake!

Sun grabbed Blake by her shoulder.

Sun: You uh, doing okay?

Blake shut the book she was reading.

Blake: I'm fine.

Sun: So, I hear there's this dance going on this weekend ...ah, sounds pretty lame, but you and me, I'm thinking, not as lame, huh?

Blake: What?

Sun: The dance! This weekend! You wanna go, or what?

Blake: I don't have time for a stupid dance. I thought you of all people would get that.

Blake walked away past her team. Sun sunk from the rejection.

(TimeSkip).

Sometime after leaving class, you headed outside to train. Mercury and Emerald had already told Cinder at least half of the hand to hand fighting skills you used in the sparring match. But now Cinder was staring outside alone, away from your vision. She observed the fighting styles you were displaying. As well as some points where you firing off random ki blasts and you would use after image to stop said blasts in their place.

Cinder: Hmm, Fascinating. So many interesting and unique abilities. And most importantly.... Powerful. I wonder......

As she was thinking of something to herself, You were charging up a Super Nova and adding more power to it than you did with any of your other attacks you shot off so far today.

(Y/N): Let's do this.

You flung the Super Nova in the sky and quickly chased after it via afterimage. You appeared just a few feet away in front of the approaching blast. Once it got close to you, you outstretched your arms and grabbed onto the end of it. You managed to slow it down as you held onto it. As this was going on, you soon began to press your hands closer to each other, slowly making the blast get smaller and smaller with each time you did this. It was a quite a struggle for you to do this, but you still managed to reduce the Super Nova to the size of a dodgeball as your hands were nearly close to closing against each other.

(Y/N): Come on. Just a little bit more!

You said to yourself as you kept

you were doing that; the blast was slowing pushing you back. But that eluding stop you and you kept pushing your hands closer together before fully closing your hands together and entrapping Super Nova. It soon exploded in between your hands, with the only thing remaining of it were two small trails of smoke on each of your hands. You then let out a sigh.

(Y/N): Man, that was a bit harder than the last few. But thankfully I was still able to stop it. I should probably stop for today. Anymore blasts and I think I might start getting people worried if they aren't already.

You said as you landed back down on campus and headed back inside.

Cinder: Amazing. Such splendid power could bring endless possibilities.

She whispered to herself as she continued to watch you head inside. However, you were soon stopped by Ruby.

Ruby: (Y/N)!

(Y/N): Hm?

Ruby: I'm so glad I found you. I wanted to ask you an important question.

(Y/N): What is it?

Ruby: Well uh......

She put both arms behind her back as she looked down and blushed.

(Y/N)'s mind: Wait ...........is she about to ask me what I think she's about to ask me?

Ruby: Well uh .......I was thinking maybe we could .......well ............you know .......if you'd like to....

Yang: Hey!

You both saw Yang running to you both.

Yang: What are you doing?!

Ruby: I was trying to ask (Y/N) out to the dance before you interrupted!

Yang: you knew I was gonna ask him out!

Ruby: Just so you could try and get closer to him in bed!

Yang: I would never!

Yang: You're just jealous that I can actually make him blush.

Ruby: Because you're always putting your boobs in his face!

(Y/N): Girls! Let's calm it down a bit here. We don't want to start a riot. How about this?

Ruby & Yang: Hm?

(Y/N): How about I go with you both?

Ruby & Yang: What?!

(Y/N): It's just a suggestion. It's better than going out with one of you and hurting the other.

Yang: Yeah, but......

(Y/N): It's either that or I won't go at all.

They both then hugged you.

(Y/N): then it's been decided. I will be going with you both to the dance.

Ruby: Now let's head back to our dorm. We need to get Blake to come to the dance.

(Y/N): you two go on ahead. I'll catch up soon.

Ruby: K.

The two ran off while you were still standing there as a certain teacher soon came from around the corner.

Glynda: So, it's seems that Ruby Rose and her sister have asked you to the dance.

(Y/N): I'm sorry, Glynda.

Glynda: No, it's alright. Honestly, I think it would be best if we kept what's going on between us a secret.

(Y/N): Thanks, Glynda.

Glynda: Just don't try to get ahead of yourselves during or after the dance.

(Y/N): Wait ......what?

Glynda: (Y/N), I think it's clear that you know what I mean.2

You then headed to team RWBY's dorm and you walked in on the girls talking about something.

Blake: You what?

Ruby: We want you to go to the dance.

Blake: That's ridiculous.

Yang: Blake, we're worried about you. This investigation is starting to mess with your head.

Blake: How?

(Y/N): Well, for starters: You can't sleep, you hardly eat, and to be honest, your grades have been suffering.

Blake: You think I care about grades?

She shrugged and then gestured out the window.

Blake: People's lives are at stake!

Yang: We know, and we're all still trying to figure out what Torchwick is up to.

Ruby: Thanks to you and Sun, we know they're operating somewhere outside of southeast Vale.

Weiss: And, the Schnee company records singled out Vale as the primary target for Dust robberies over the last few months.

Yang: Don't forget about their missing military tech too.

Blake: But there's still unanswered questions!

Ruby: Blake, you won't be able to find anything if you can't even keep your eyes open!

Yang: All we're asking is that you take it easy for one day.

Weiss: It will be fun! Yang and I will make sure of it.

Yang: Yeah! We're planning the whole event!

Blake: Excuse me?

Weiss: Team CFVY's away mission lasted longer than expected.

Yang: So, Weiss and I were asked to pick up where they left off. And now we can make sure you have the perfect night.

Weiss: And once it's all over, we'll return for our search, rested and ready.

Ruby: So, what do ya think?

Blake: I think this is a colossal waste of time.

Blake walked away from you all and opened the dorm door.

Blake: I'll be in the library.

She walked out of the room. You let out sigh after this happened.

Yang: Great.

Weiss: She can't keep going on like this.

There was soon a knock at the door and Weiss opened it to see Jaune at the door with a guitar.

Jaune: 🎶Weiss!🎶

Weiss slammed the door in his face.

Jaune: Oh, come on, open the door! I promise not to sing.

(Y/N): I really hope he's right on this.

Weiss opened the door.

Jaune: I lied!

(Y/N): Oh god damn it!1

Jaune: 🎶Weiss Schu-nee, will you accompany me, to the dance on... Sunday!?🎶

Weiss: Are you done?

Jaune: ........Yes?

Weiss: No.

She shut the door in his face again. She then around and saw you, Ruby and Yang giving her looks.

Weiss: What?

(Y/N): And that little display right there is one of the reasons why they call you the Ice Queen.

Weiss: All my life, boys have only cared about the perks of my last name. Besides, I already have a date in mind.

(Y/N): Who?

Weiss: well, if you must know, it's.....

Ruby: Date or no date, none of this will matter if we can't get Blake to go.

Later That night, Pyrrha and Jaune were sparring at their spot on the roof. Jaune appeared to gain the upper hand until Pyrrha swept his legs out from under him.

Pyrrha: Well done! Your swordplay's improved immensely.

Pyrrha helped Jaune to his feet.

Jaune: I couldn't have done it without you.

Pyrrha: So, are you ready to move on to Aura?

Jaune: I'm actually thinking maybe we just skip Aura for tonight? Might go on a jog or something.

Pyrrha: Come on, I know you get frustrated, but you must keep trying. I'm sure you'll discover your Semblance any day now.

Jaune: That's not it. It's just .......It's dumb.

Pyrrha: What is it?

She approached Jaune and placed her hand on his shoulder.

Pyrrha: Jaune, you know you can tell me.

Jaune: It's ...Weiss.

Her face fell slightly

Pyrrha: Oh. What about her?

Jaune: I asked her to the dance and she shot me down. Big surprise, right?

Pyrrha: Well, I believe the saying goes: There's ...plenty of fish in the sea.

Jaune: That's easy for you to say. You've probably got guys clamoring over each other just to ask you out.

Pyrrha: You'd be surprised.

Jaune dismissed the thought.

Jaune: Oh please. If you don't get a date to the dance, I'll wear a dress. Heh.

He walked away as Pyrrha dropped her smile and looked upset.

Emerald: So, did you get a look any of the attacks (Y/N) has.

Cinder: indeed, I did. His usage of ki and the amount of it within his body is most fascinating.

Mercury: Eh, he was alright, I guess. His hits weren't really all that much if I'm honest.

Cinder: It's very unwise to underestimate someone who's currently an obstacle in our way. Why else will would he have been able to beat Frost twice and tear apart of Paladin?

Emerald: So, you're saying that he's heavily suppressing his power?

Cinder: Exactly. He doesn't want to risk harming anyone or causing any destruction in the expense of crushing the only other chance he and his species have. Besides, we might not have to be too concerned about our issue. We just need to continue on observing (Y/N) prowess and we'll be likely to find many weaknesses in his form. And when we do, we can use it to our advantage and our obstacle will be little more than a nuisance.

A/N: We shall see if their observation will pay off for them.
