Chapter 7
Here's the next one. This one is a little short, but I just had to jump through three events that aren't that long to get to the next step. Until the next Full Moon the chapters will be a little shorter maybe.
---------------------------------------------------------
His breathing was fast and he had side stitches. Zayn was already 10 minutes late. Actually, he was supposed to meet his friends at JuiceNet, but his mother had stopped him. She gave him a talk about washing dishes. That was really superfluous. So far that has worked out great, but since the beginning of the week someone was always at home if he wanted to do it and that was too risky. Even with gloves.
He just couldn't do it yet. How could he explain that to his mother without being found five minutes later in a straitjacket as a tuna?
His cell phone vibrated in his pocket. A message from Niall.
From Nialler:
'Zayn, where are you? Are you coming?'.
To Nialler:
'I'm on my way, had a fishy problem at home'.
These kinds of problems didn't annoy Zayn any more because he was used to it, but sometimes it was really exhausting. Always lying to his family was really hard. Add to that the stress of the upcoming exams before the holidays. But the biggest stress was in the people who didn't stress. People like Shawn, Nick, Aidan or Harry.
They didn't care about the school, they were rich and would get everything anyway. They made fun of the students to whom that were important and who were stressed out like Liam, for example. Sometimes Zayn wondered why it was funny to enjoy others grief ... Maybe he should just ask Harry blantly?
Harry..... he was a mystery to Zayn. The weekend wasn't as bad as expected, but then he just ran away and since then he completely ignored them. Not that Zayn wanted to talk to him in a great way, but it's weird if Harry doesn't offend them or commented on the subject.
By contrast, Shawn has only gotten worse. Anyone who isn't as mean as him or wants to fuck him, will be insulted or worse. Especially those who fight back. So almost half the school. How to make Friends Shawn..
Zayn's phone vibrated again. If that was Niall again, Zayn would throw his phone into the ocean!
From Micheal:
'Yo, Zen, what are you doing on the weekend? Fancy bowling?'.
He wasn't bowling in forever. Zayn would simply suggest the idea to the boys when he finally arrived. It sure would be f ...
Zayn stopped abruptly. There she stood. As always in blue. Zayn wanted to call her, but then he realized that he didn't even know her name. He had to change that urgently.
"Hey, over there" Zayn called in her direction. Wow, awesome Zayn, that's one way to make her listen.
She didn't turn around, just continued walking towards the harbour. He wanted to run after her, but when he looked back she was gone. Great, here we go again.
"There you are finally" said Niall as Zayn finally took a seat next to them.
"Sorry, I was stopped" he apologized for his delay.
"What happened? Niall said something about a fishy problem?" Liam asked worriedly.
"My mom, she meant to give me a lecture just before I leave ... nothing big, just the dishes" Zayn explained shortly and everyone immediately understood what was meant.
"Here, for you" said Will, the cafe's owner, as he brought Zayn's juice.
"Thanks Will"
"Enjoy it guys, and Niall, see you tomorrow" he replied before he left.
"Oh, right, you're working tomorrow" Louis sighed, sipping his drink.
"Yes, but don't worry, I'll make it to the game anyway. It's luckily in the evening" Niall assured him.
"Already excited?" Zayn asked eagerly.
"Excited? Me? Ha, never, I'm totally calm. It's just the first important game of the year" replied Louis slightly sarcastically, but choked on the juice.
"Alright" Niall chuckled softly.
"Guys, something different. I saw HER again" Zayn changed the subject and became a bit quieter.
"When? Where? Did she say something?".
"Breath Niall! Just before I came here, I saw her heading to the harbour and no, she didn't say anything, so when I wanted to call her, which made me realize that I didn't know her name, she just kept going, and shortly thereafter, she disappeared again" Zayn reported.
"Why is she always disappearing? She's not a witch" Niall grumbled.
"Who knows that exactly" said Louis.
"I would like to argue, but I'm talking to three out of four mermaids so you should not rule anything out" Liam pointed out.
"We have to find out who she is, why does she know so much and why did she recognize the necklace?" Niall thought aloud.
"Exactly, how did she know it was in the Moon Pool? Strange place for a necklace" Zayn added thoughtfully.
"What necklace?". All four immediately froze at the sound of that rough and familiar voice. Where did he come from now?
"Harry, what are you doing here?" Liam asked horrified.
"The same as everyone else. So what necklace?" Harry pursued.
"You must have interrogated yourself" Niall tried to distract.
"There is not much to interrogate at the words Moon Pool and Necklace. Is there anything that you are keeping from me?" Harry asked suspiciously.
"How do you get into that?" Zayn asked unconvincingly offended. Harry gave him the -seriously?-look and sat down next to Niall, slightly pushing his hip sideways, forcing Niall to push Louis closer to the wall.
"What's going on and why don't you tell me something? I thought we're a team. Don't you trust me? " Harry asked again.
"Not really" Louis muttered softly, but when Harry looked at him, Louis just stared at his glass.
"There is not really anything to say. No one distrusts you, Harry" Liam tried to convince him, but Zayn and Louis both avoided eye contact and fiddled around with their straw shackles. Niall shifted nervously in his seat, one hand on his glass and the other on Louis' knee, stroking it slowly as he slipped a bit away from Harry.
"I see....I thought we could trust each other after all that happened" Harry sighed softly, but Zayn didn't buy the pain from him. The hurt wasn't played convincingly. But apparently Liam saw it differently.
"Harry, don't say that. There really isn't much to say. We don't even know what it means" Liam said, visibly shying away when he realized what he had said.
"So there's something I don't know" Harry caught Liam. Great, thanks, Liam. You did a great job, Mr. Naiv and oblivious.
Niall looked back and forth between the two and finally sighed deeply. "Well, there's something you don't know. A while ago, I found a necklace on the bottom of the Moon Pool, the one Zayn is always wearing" Niall began to tell. Harry's eyes went to Zayn's neck, around which the necklace hung.
"And what's so special about it?" Harry didn't understand.
"When he was at work, a strange old lady came to him and recognized the necklace, she told him something about the Moon Pool and that we should enjoy it. The same woman warned him before the full moon" Niall continued.
"And you're telling me this now?" Harry asked horrified.
"Oh, I'm sorry we didn't run right up to you, Your Highness. It wasn't like you gave us a great chance between your insults" Zayn snapped.
"Zayn" Liam wanted to stop him, but Zayn slapped his hand away.
"Don't Zayn me! It's true. Why should we have told him that and when? Before or after he made fun of your efforts in every subject or distributed your books and notes down the hall, because he thought it was funny to see you lying on the floor? Or while he was dropping balls repeatedly at Niall in gym class until he couldn't stand up in pain any more? Well, tell me, Liam. When?" Zayn countered, getting angrier every second.
"And I don't even want to start with me and Louis. So I'm sorry we don't trust you right away, but that's a joke. No one changes from one day to another" he added as no-one said a word.
"But I haven't offended you since the full moon. Do you still not trust me?" Harry asked blankly.
"Should I be thankful for that now?" asked Zayn as a counter question.
"Trust wants to be earned" Louis said softly.
"Really Boobear? That's what you're saying, after Saturday night? At least I thought you trust me" Harry admitted defensively.
Zayn stared at Louis. What did Harry mean by that? He pulled out his cell phone and typed in a message.
To Tommo:
'What does he mean, Tommo?'.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you" Louis said, looking at his cell phone.
"Anyway, we don't know who she is and how she knows all that, probably ...". Liam's voice faded away as Zayn's mobile vibrated.
From Tommo:
'Do you remember the thunderstorm? It could be that I am easily afraid of thunderstorms. Anyway, Harry suddenly stood in the room and instead of using that and just humilating me, he tried to calm me down. Strangely enough, it worked. In that condition I am not sane. He stayed the night and I had a strange dream about him, you know. Of course he doesn't know that. But that was all. That's what he meant. But does he really think just because he doesn't take one chance to put me down, I trust him suddenly? I think it's very strange...'.
Zayn glanced at Louis, who was already looking at him, and smiled encouragingly at him.
To Tommo:
'Thank you for your honesty. Harry will never understand what it means to earn trust. He just asks for it and that's how you realize that he hasn't changed. We have to keep an eye on him.'
Louis nodded to him slightly as he read the message. "Are you even listening you two or are your phones more interesting than us?" Niall asked, chuckling.
"Sorry, Niall. Micheal just wrote me again" Zayn lied to him.
"What does he want?" he asked curiously and was almost completely hovering over the table. Zayn packed his phone back in his pocket.
"He just wanted to know if I want to go bowling and if you want too - on Sunday" Zayn told him and it wasn't a lie.
"Of course" Niall was pleased and sipped the rest of his juice.
"And you Louis? What's so interesting?" Harry wanted to know.
"Oh, just something about the game" he dismissed the matter.
"Oh right, the game is tomorrow. I'll definitely be there" Harry assured him with a grin.
"Great" said Louis with dripping sarkasm.
Niall looked tensely at the field and almost forgot to breathe. The game was really exciting. The opposing team wasn't even bad, but their school team was just better. They had Louis. He played as a striker and had already scored two goals. Niall was immensely proud of him. Almost like a brother. The referee whistled after the first half when Harry approached.
"Hi, can I join you?" he asked breathlessly.
"Aren't you a little late? The first half is just over" Zayn said annoyed.
"Sorry, I was stopped" Harry cleared his throat and straightened his clothes. Niall knew that look only too well from him. That was the -I just had fun on the toilet - look. If he didn't care, why was he here?
"Tommo! Brilliant game so far, the second goal was insane" Zayn praised Louis as he came to a stop in front of them. They were sitting in the front of the stands so they could talk during the break and get up close.
"Lou Lou" exclaimed Niall, almost throwing himself over the demarcation.
"Woah, slowly Nialler. We don't want injured Irish boys" laughed Louis.
"Louis, boys, hey! How do you like the game so far?" joined Callum, who was also on the team.
"Just great. I don't dare to breathe" exaggerated Niall joyfully.
"I'm glad that it is so exciting, but without Tommo here we would be nothing".
"Now don't exaggerate Cal. The whole team is good" Louis said modestly.
"Well, if you say so" Callum shrugged.
"Hey guys" came Ashton too.
"Hey Ash. Great game" Liam praised him.
"Thanks, I ... oh hi Harry, you here? This is new. Suddenly interested in football?" Ashton turned to Harry, who was sitting next to Niall on the stands.
"Who doesn't like scoring goals?" Harry winked at them and licked his lips.
"Is Sunday still on?" ignored Ashton Harry and turned back to Zayn.
"Definitely" he assured Ashton.
"Is it okay if the girls come along? Eleanor asked" Louis asked his friends.
"The more the better, they're always welcome" Ashton replied, patting Louis on the shoulder.
"We'll have to go. See you later." Callum said goodbye, dragging Ashton along. Louis also set off.
"Don't worry, shorty. I'll sit here watching you all the time" Harry called after him. Louis turned around smirking.
"Is that supposed to be a threat?" He called back and then ran back to his team, swinging his hips. The second half would start immediately.
"Foul! That was a foul!!" Niall yelled across the field. Louis was lying on the floor holding his leg in pain.
"Niall calm down, the referee knows what he's doing" Liam tried to reassure him.
"Good joke, Liam, really. How many times does he make wrong decisions?" Zayn contradicted him.
"Well, that may happen more often, but that doesn't mean ...".
"Don' teven try to explain that statistically" Niall interrupted him and stared at the field. The referee just gave the penalty.
"Louis will show them that you shouldn't mess with him" Niall grumbled.
"Relax, it's just a game" Harry said matter-of-factly.
Niall turned to him, glaring evilly. "Just a game? Why are you here then? My best friend was just lying injured on the ground ... you..." Niall snapped at him, but Liam put his hands on his shoulders and calmed him down.
"Breathe Niall. Deeply in and out. Louis is fine and he will now sink the penalty as the pro he is" Liam assured him in a calm voice.
Right now Niall was back into the game and Zayn also looked spellbound at the field.
"Liam, how do you do that?" Harry asked him.
"He's my friend. I know what calms him down" Liam explained, then turned to the game.
Louis was getting ready. It was like time stood still. Everyone was staring intently at the goal. Even Harry couldn't avert his eyes. But not from the goal, from Louis. Louis as he stood there, tense, concentrated, exhausted, sweaty.
Louis took the lead, then aimed his right foot and sank the ball in the upper left corner of the goal. The crowd jumped up cheerfully and Louis' teammates fell into his arms. Beaming, Zayn, Liam and Niall hugged each other. Then Niall realized that Harry was standing there cheering happily. That was new. Was he happy for the school or for Louis? Niall didn't want to think about that now.
The game went on for a few minutes then it was over and they won. The screams of joy and cheers rang again and their side of the grandstand was infinitely loud. The team joined in the jubilation. God, sometimes Niall loved school. The people called and sang Louis' name. That was a great feeling. As the noise reduced, Niall dropped back into his seat. Zayn and Liam talked about how proud they were of Louis.
"He was awesome, just amazing" said Liam.
"The player of the day. Maybe someone should make him aware of how good he is, our little mister insecure" Zayn said with a big grin.
"Says you?" Liam said, giving him a crooked look.
Niall wanted to say something, then noticed how Harry was still staring onto the field. He followed his gaze and froze. Was Harry watching Louis? Should he find that creepy or sweet? Worrying or not worth talking about?
"And is the big victory party coming up now?" Liam asked.
"As far as I know not really. They wanted to have a drink, but that's about it" Zayn said, pointing to Louis, who was still on the field with Callum, Ashton, Luke and Michael.
By then, almost everyone was gone except the friends who were there to support them. They got up and went on the field. Just before they arrived at Louis, Niall saw one of the team members run around like crazy and wetting people. Apparently, Liam had noticed too, because before this guy reached Louis, he pulled him out of the danger zone. A second later Ashton and Luke got wet from top to bottom. Zayn and Niall took a step back.
"Thank you Liam, that was close" Louis said in a whisper.
"No problem" he answered.
"Louis, are you coming?" called Michael questioningly.
"I'm coming later, just go" he called back.
The rest of the team disappeared in the locker room and Louis let out a relieved breath. "I'll probably have to go sweaty. I can't shower in there" joked Louis halfheartedly.
"Probably not a good idea" Zayn agreed.
"There are enough people who find sweat very sexy, especially after a game" Niall laughed, and Louis hit him on the back of the head.
"He's not wrong" Harry grinned.
"Still here? I'm almost impressed" chuckled Louis.
"Almost? How can I impress you?" Harry hooked up almost flirty.
"You have to find that out for yourself" said Louis smirking.
"I'm sorry to interrupt you, Lovebirds, but we should go gradually, the team is definitely waiting" Niall interrupted the two.
"Right" Louis said, leaving Harry standing there.
Zayn and Liam followed him while Niall was still standing there with Harry. He followed his gaze again and this time was even more confused than the first time. Not only did he not let Louis out of his sight, no. This time you could see how Harry seemed to watch him as he took off his T-shirt. Now his eyes were fixed on a shirtless Louis and he didn't look disgusted. He seemed like he didn't notice that he was doing it. Niall didn't understand the world any more. He snapped his finger in front of Harry's face and then followed his friends. Victory party was next.
"Lou, look, how about this?" Eleanor asked excitedly and showed Louis another book.
"El, this is the tenth book you hold in my face. Just choose" he moaned wearily.
"I don't know which one she likes. It has to be perfect" she said desperately.
"Perfect is overrated" said Louis and shrugged.
"You're really no help" Eleanor sighed, putting all the books back.
"Why a book at all? No one reads these days" Louis asked Eleanor, still standing in front of the shelf.
"You maybe not, but there are educated people who can do something with books" she countered and finally pulled out a book and nodded to him. She paid the book and then they left the book store.
"How about ice cream?" she suggested beaming.
"The best idea of the day" grinned Louis and together they went to the ice cream parlour.
"Fancy chocolate?" she winked at him.
"Always" he laughed.
They took their ice cream and strolled through the streets. The midday sun fell on the asphalt and the sky shimmered bright blue.
"How did your kids play?" Eleanor wanted to know.
"Pretty good, you should not underestimate the kids" he said.
"I'm glad. I should ... hey, look at that" she exhaled suddenly.
They stopped in front of a jewellery's shop window. It was a small shop with a purchase for old jewellery. As Louis stepped closer to the window, his breath got caught in his throat. There was a necklace in the window that looked just like Zayn's, with only a blue stone instead of a red one.
"Doesn't Zayn have one like this?" Eleanor asked, but Louis didn't answer. He walked into the shop, waddling, and asked the owner about the necklace.
"An old piece, we only had it for a few days, costs 300" he told Louis.
He had to swallow hard. That was a lot of money. "May I take a photo?" Louis asked as he pulled out his cellphone.
"Of course, sir" said the man, holding out the necklace to Louis. He quickly took a picture and then left the store with a thank you.
"Louis, what's up? What's so special about the necklace?" Eleanor asked in confusion, standing next to him all the time.
"Nothing, but I have to ..".
"Look at this, two losers on shopping tour. Are you looking for wedding rings?" Shawn interrupted Louis and approached them.
"You always turn up when no one needs you" Eleanor said annoyed.
"Well, pretty lady, you'll regret your scratchiness" he admonished her.
"Leave her alone" threatened Louis Shawn.
"How sweet, prince charming saves the girl. Just wait, sooner or later she will come to me, you will see. I always get what I want" Shawn threatened.
"Come on El. Let's go" said Louis, simply ignoring Shawn. One last look at the shop window and they were gone.
"And it looks exactly like Zayns?" Niall asked, stunned.
"Yes, except for the stone" Louis replied and showed them the photo.
"How did it ended up there?" pondered Liam.
"The better question is, how do we get it? 300 is pretty much money" Zayn interjected.
"We can think of something" said Liam, but sounded not convinced.
The boys fell silent and looked for a solution. Lost in thought, Louis tapped his juice glass. It had to be possible to get this necklace. Suddenly he startled when two hands in front of him came up on thetable.
"Louis, I just met Shawn" Eleanor gasped breathlessly.
"And?" he didn't understand.
"He bought the necklace, just because he saw us, this rat. I thought I'd tell you because you seemed to like it" she told him still gasping for air.
"That bastard" hissed at Louis angrily.
"How should we get the necklace now?" Zayn wailed helplessly.
"I don't know," Liam sighed visibly discouraged.
"I see, the necklace is pretty nice, but there are others, too, just buy another one" Eleanor suggested confused.
"Yes, yes, I will, it's just ... oh, not so important" Louis dismissed the case.
"I don't understand you" she sighed and moved away from them.
"What do we do now?" Niall asked.
Zayn just got up and headed for the door. Perplexed, the others followed him and saw that he was walking towards Shawn, who was standing outside.
"Shawn, I didn't know you were a girl, since when do you care about necklaces?" Zayn came straight to the point.
"There's a lot you don't know about me" he simply replied, playing around with the necklace.
"What's the crap? You know exactly what I mean. What are you doing?" Zayn growled at him.
"Well, Zayn, this rage isn't yours. I'm just having some fun. Just for your priceless faces, this has been worth it" laughed Shawn and disappeared in the cafe.
"Unbelievable" said Niall, shaking his head.
"Hey guys, why the long faces? What's up?" Harry asked as he came to them.
"Oh nothing. It's just that your oh-so-great friend has the second necklace and is shoving this fact into our faces" Zayn answered super annoyed.
"Actually, that's your moment, Harry. Get us the necklace. After all, he's your friend" Niall told him.
"And how should I do that in your opinion?" Harry replied.
"You're not completely stupid, you'll think of something" Niall said.
"Nothing will work" Harry defended himself, but it didn't work.
"I told you he would let us down. He can not harm our precious Shawn" mocked Zayn angrily.
"No, I..".
"Leave it Harry. We got it" Louis cut him off and walked back into the cafe. As he entered he couldn't believe his eyes.
Shortly after Shawn entered the cafe, Eleanor approached him. "Give me the necklace" she told him.
"Nice and slow, Sugar Daddy wants something first" Shawn breathed flirty.
"You disgust me! You don't want the necklace. You just do it to annoy them. So what do you want for that? " she came straight to the point.
"Smart girl. I don't know what's so special about it, but it seems like it means a lot to you. You can have it and I don't ask for much" Shawn said.
"What do you want?" she asked again.
"A kiss" Shawn said simply.
"Forget it" she said in disgust.
"Okay, Your decision. Only one kiss and I separate myself from the necklace, but if you don't want to" Shawn offered her again.
"Alright, but only one" she agreed reluctantly.
"Just one" Shawn repeated.
Eleanor approached him and he kissed her. At that moment, Louis came in. This sight hit him hard. He felt betrayed, lied to, abandoned. He thought they were friends, but here she was and kissed Shawn. Ironically Shawn. He felt sick.
As they broke from the kiss, her eyes fell directly on Louis' stunned face. Shawn grinned in amusement and rammed his shoulder against Louis' arm as he passed.
"It's not what it looks like. I can explain everything, just wait here" Eleanor tried to downplay it all and ran after Shawn. Louis didn't want to wait, so he went after her.
"Louis what's up?" Zayn asked.
"I don't know myself" he just answers and moved on to Eleanor.
"Shawn, you had what you wanted, come on" she mumbled impatiently.
"As you wish" he said simply, took off the necklace and threw it in a high arc, by the docks in front of the cafe, into the water.
"I said I part with it, not that I would give it to you" Shawn said to a completely horrified Eleanor. Laughing, he made an exit.
"I'm sorry, Louis. I just wanted to get the necklace for you" she apologized meekly.
"It's alright, we'll get it off the bottom. Did you kiss him for that?" Louis wanted to know anyway.
"Of course, I would never kiss him voluntarily. He's an ass, and most of all, I'm your best friend. I would never betray you like that" she assured him.
"The Best best friend in the world! Who would do something like that ?!" Louis chuckled but then sighed deeply. "Was only in vain."
"You want the necklace, right?" she checked.
"Yeah, but why ..." he started, but Eleanor was already walking down the jetty and jumping into the water.
"Damn it" Louis swore and ran after her. He stopped abruptly at the edge. Behind him he heard footsteps.
"What are you up to?".
"What is she doing there?".
"Is she crazy?".
Louis ignored his friends and stared spellbound at the water. After what seemed like an eternity, Eleanor appeared again, holding the necklace in one hand. Struggling for air, she scrambled out of the water back onto the dock. Automatically the guys moved back a step. Something like that had never been done for him. He was totally touched. She was always there for him and he lied to her. She deserved a better best friend.
She scrambled to her feet and held out the necklace to him "Here". Still speechless, he reached out his hand.
"Louis don't" warned him Liam dumbfounded.
Eleanor just looked at him confused. Louis continued to hold out his hand, and as Eleanor released the necklace, Louis gently pulled his hand away, causing it to fall to the ground. He made an "Oops" sound and knelt on the ground. He quickly needed an idea to touch the necklace without getting a tail.
Suddenly, Louis felt heat rise from the necklace and looked around, confused. He saw Harry standing not so far from them with his hand in a fist looking in their direction. He dried the necklace.
Relieved, Louis exhaled, picked up the necklace and stood up again. "Thanks, that really means a lot to me" he thanked her as if nothing had happened.
"You're crazy" she said, leaving the boys alone.
Triumphantly, Louis held up the necklace.
"That was pretty close" Zayn said breathlessly.
"That's true. Whether I like it or not, but without Harry it would have gone wrong" confessed Louis.
"What does that have to do with Harry?" Zayn asked blankly.
"Without him, I wouldn't have been able to touch the necklace" Louis explained.
"Where is Harry?" Niall asked as he looked around.
"He was just there" Louis said.
"Great, now he disappears just like the woman" moaned Zayn.
"After all, we have the necklace now" Liam reminded him.
"Yes, and only thanks to Eleanor" said Louis proudly and put on the necklace.
Niall wasn't bowling in forever, so he was a little scared of embarrassing his friends. Of course, he was always loud and carefree, but that didn't mean that he didn't care what others thought about him. He just didn't want to be the weird blonde guy in the back.
When Niall was about to make his first litter, he saw Shawn approaching the bowling alleys with Nick, Harry, Aidan, and a few girls, stopping right beside them. Oh great.
"We're perfectly on time to see the little goblin falling on his face" laughed Nick.
Niall ignored him, concentrating on his bowling ball. He took out, threw and ...... hit almost all. Not bad for a start.
"What a coincidence you're here, too. Are your mansions so boring?" Luke asked the jerks.
"You'll never know" hissed Aidan.
"We heard something rumbling - are we bothering you?" Nick taunted him.
"Not in the least" he replied sarcastically.
"Louis, your turn" Niall turned to Louis.
"That'll be fun. The dwarf never scores" laughed Shawn, amused.
Niall looked at Harry and could see in his eyes that it was him. He had told Shawn that they would be here today. Why did he do that? His actions contradicted each other. First he helps and then he causes chaos. Maybe they should have invited Harry, then maybe Shawn wouldn't be here. Niall couldn't stand Shawn.
"Strike" called Louis joyfully and Niall turned his attention back to him.
"That was luck" claimed Nick.
"Believe me, I know my way around with balls" Louis winked at him.
They played for a while and it was pretty funny. The idiots kept trying to distract them, but it didn't work. Niall had fun with his friends and cut the others out completely.
"Strike" Niall heard Harry screaming and saw him performing a dance of joy. That was his first hit.
"Well, he knows his way around with balls too" Shawn claimed without realizing how wrong that sounded. Niall had to grin. Just the idea....
"Oh, he does that too" said Louis, giving Harry a questionable look . And, wait, did Harry actually blush?
"Save your gay comments, you fagot" Shawn growled at him.
"Is someone afraid of a bit of fun?" mocked Ashton.
Niall started to laugh aloud. Shawn's face was priceless.
"Hey you sea cow, laugh somewhere else" called Nick annoyed at him, what made him laugh even more.
"Are you laughing at me?" Nick asked, coming up to Niall with a coke can in his hand.
Before Niall knew it, the contents of the drink splashed into Nick's face and he stumbled backwards. Still laughing he looked around and as met with Louis' eyes. Niall could still see Louis dropping his hand again. He winked at him and Niall nodded.
"Well, Nick, even drinks have something against you" laughed Eleanor.
"Watch your mouth you bitch, I .." Nick cursed.
"Oh don't you dare talk to her like that" Louis cut him off angrily.
Niall spotted a small puddle of Coke on the floor and had an idea. He reached out his hand and turned the coke into jelly. As he came towards Louis Nick slipped on it and fell to the floor. Everyone laughed. Well, all of his friends. Niall felt Harry staring at him, but he didn't give in.
They played their final round and in the end they had far more points than Shawn and his clowns. Ashton, Luke, Callum and Danielle went to the cafeteria to get something to eat. Michael, Eleanor, Liam and Sophia brought the shoes back. Zayn, Louis and Niall were packing their things together.
"They pop up everywhere like cockroaches" Zayn grumbled.
"Nick will think twice about that next time" chuckled Louis.
Together, they went to the exit, as Zayn held the two back. "What?" Niall asked.
Zayn gestured to Shawn, who was snogging a blonde girl in a corner.
"Do you already have to stalk people while making out?" Harry disturbed them.
"And do you always have to appear everywhere without being asked?" countered Zayn.
"Just so you know that, I didn't tell Shawn about it on purpose. I didn't wanted him trying to ruin your evening" Harry tried to convince them.
"Whatever" Zayn said, gesturing to leave.
"Goodbye Harold" said Louis goodbye to Harry.
"Bye Harry" Niall said, following his friends.
Again, Zayn stopped abruptly. "Almost forgot" he murmured, reaching out his hand and then dropping it again as fast as lightning and then he left the bowling alley.
Louis and Niall looked around in confusion until they saw Shawn and this girl. They limped through the entryway and their lips were glued together. Zayn had frozen the saliva. Niall tried so hard not to cry with laughter. That was a master stroke.
"Do you think that's funny?"
"Not you again" moaned Louis, rolling his eyes.
"First of all, that wasn't us and second, yes, I think that's very funny" laughed Niall, causing Harry to frown in annoyance.
"You can defrost them again, but don't burn their precious lips" Niall said amused and jumped out the door. Well, he admitted it. He was always a cheerful and loud Leprechaun and he was proud of it.
