"Well, if it isn't Megan Jackson who's snuck into my office."
This was bad, so fucking bad. Getting caught was literally the only thing she had to avoid, so that goal was thrown out the window and all the way into space.
Megan turns to see Norman, who appears to be normal, but she was in a tough situation right now, so she had to plan an escape, all without getting hurt.
"You put MJ in the hospital." She spoke with all the disgust in the world. Megan didn't have much respect for Norman, but he definitely lost all of the respect she had left for him.
"Spider-Man has to pay for what he did to Harry." Norman said, slowly walking towards her. "Don't you know that?"
"It's not his fault, Norman." Megan slowly inched back, trying to reason with him while she could. "Harry just happened to be there at the time of the explosion."
"But how come he gets to walk freely?" He asked. His voice sounded sinister, like he wasn't the Norman everyone knew and loved.
Megan took more steps back, struggling to form words as she was currently fearing for her life, but she had to keep it together. "Your son isn't a superhero, he doesn't have-"
"My son isn't weak!" Norman snaps, causing Megan to stumble and bump into his desk.
"I'm not saying that! He's very strong to still be alive!" She said.
"The day my son got in that explosion is the day he died in my heart!" He yelled. Megan stepped back even further, quickly looking back to see what was behind her. She had to know her surroundings if she was going to make it out alive.
"But he isn't dead!" Megan exclaimed. "Norman, he-"
"Enough!" Norman interrupts her with a big slap to the face, and she immediately puts her hand to her cheek, really feeling the intensity of that slap. Hitting women in this day and age? That was not the way to go.
"What the fu-"
Norman goes to grab Megan, and she quickly stomps on his foot to get away. She then beeps Peter through her watch, calling for him, and he immediately answers. "Meg, hey! What's up?"
"What's up? What's fucking up is that I need you here, like, now." She demanded. "Norman showed up and he's trying to fight me."
"What? How are you gonna get out of there?" Peter asked.
"Um, just trust me and get your ass over here." Megan replied and hung up on him, then quickly threw whatever was in sight towards Norman to deter him from hurting her.
"Throwing stuff? Really?" Norman snickered as he dodges all the objects being thrown at him. "Come on, I didn't think you'd be this weak!"
Now that was where Megan had it. Nobody how many times she told herself she was more than the label that was put upon her, it was never enough. But hearing it from Norman? He may be physically stronger with this Green Goblin injection, but this was it for her.
"I'm not weak." She whispered to herself. "I have a black belt."
"Quit mumbling, would you?" He scoffed.
"Oh, I'll quit mumbling alright." Megan smirked. Getting into her fighting stance, Megan attempts to kick Norman up his chin. Failing to realize their height difference, she misses. Norman fought back, of course, grabbing Megan's leg like a rag doll then flipping her body to slam her onto the ground. It hurt like a bitch, but that wasn't stopping her yet.
"Fuck!" She groans, forcing herself to get up. She couldn't give up. She had to keep fighting until she could escape with Peter.
"This is merely child's play, Megan! You're no match against me!" Norman laughed as he dodged her hits.
"Next time you wanna play the bad guy, don't recommend the best dojo in the city so I can kick your ass!" She yells, jumping as high as she could to elbow Norman right in the throat. It was dirty move, but it would knock him off his feet for a moment.
In a moment of desperation, Megan grabbed a nearby floor lamp, holding onto the metal pole as if it were a staff, and tried busting out her moves on Norman, which didn't do much unfortunately. He recovered almost instantly after every move she made, but she wasn't putting down a fight.
"This is for hurting MJ!" She yelled at the top of her lungs, leaping her petite body to hit Norman in the stomach. Megan then went for another hit, anger pulsing through her veins. "And this is for hurting Pete-"
"Shut up!" He interrupts, pushing Megan away with full force, which made her lose her grip on her makeshift staff.
Just as she goes to stand up, Norman's glider zooms towards Megan with blades sticking out, and she just misses the blades as she quickly crawls under Norman's desk. There wasn't much time to think, so she had to think extremely fast.
"Peter, where are you?" Megan calls while hiding under the desk, where she couldn't hide for long.
"Be there in a sec!" Peter grunts. He was clearly swinging, so she knew he was on his way, but she was running out of time.
"I don't have a sec! I-"
Peter hears a loud crash, but fear not, she's okay. Norman picked up the desk and threw it across the room, and Megan immediately froze in fear that this was the end for her. He kicks her side, then she rolls over in pain and presses her hand against her side. The guy packed a mean punch and kick, but she couldn't let that be her downfall.
"Meg? Meg!" Peter calls, but Megan ignored it as her mind was running a thousand miles an hour. She forced herself up, hit Norman so hard it (thankfully) knocked him off his feet a little, and ran away from him, frantically trying to think of an escape plan.
Megan had to get out of here. If this fight continued she knew she would end up dead. She may be a more skilled and tactical fighter, but Norman was so much more powerful. He didn't even have to fight half as hard as Megan, maybe even less than half. Megan landed way more hits, but they didn't nearly have as much of an impact as Norman's.
"Quit running, Megan." Norman groans. "Your death is inevitable. Just make this easy for me, won't ya?"
That was it. Megan knew what to do now, but she had to do it in style. "You know what, Norman? Maybe I will."
"Wait, what-"
"See ya!" She says with finger guns.
Megan runs as fast as she possibly could and jumps out the window, covering her face as the glass breaks. She keeps her eyes shut, preparing to make a nasty fall, but Peter catches her in perfect timing, grasping onto her hand as she dangled while he swung across the city.
"You're crazy!"
"Crazy for you!"

Megan let go of Peter's grip and landed on the fire escape, then Peter landed as well. Right now Megan was having a complete adrenaline rush, and felt like she could go on like this for hours. She never felt more alive in her entire life. Not even the chaos of their European trip from high school could live up to a one-on-one fight like that.
"I feel so alive!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.
"Shut up!" A random person in the distance yelled back. Ouch.
"I'm not even in pain right now!" Megan whispered yelled. "I so kicked ass, although my back does kind of hurt-"
"So, are you gonna tell me what happened?" Peter asked.
Megan looked around, not wanting her neighbors to hear, so she pulled Peter inside, taking him to their room and sitting him down on the bed.
"Norman is the Green Goblin for sure. It's the same shit all over again." She blurted out of nowhere. "Oh, and-"
"He is? Definitely?" He interrupted.
"Yes." Megan said. "It was the password to his computer and there was a file in his computer called the Green Goblin experiment."
Peter couldn't believe this. He always thought things could be different, that he could prevent these normal human beings into becoming villains like fate wants them to, but it can't be stopped. There's nothing else that can be done besides keep moving forward and figuring this mess out.
"Where's the file? Did you take a picture of it?" Peter asked. It was at this moment Megan knew, she fucked up.
"About that..."
"You don't have it?" He exclaimed.
"To be fair, he came in and tried to killed me." She shrugged.
"He tried to- wow." Peter facepalmed.
"Besides, I know the password so Ned can just hack it!" Megan assured him. She wasn't wrong, but this only made things harder than they already were.
"True." He sighed. "What else did you find out?"
"Two things." She said. "One; Felicia was working for Norman, but I don't have any proof that he was the one that killed her."
"And the other thing?" Peter questioned.
"I don't know if you want to know this." Megan frowned. Telling Peter what she found out about Harry could break him, and she really didn't want to be the one to do that. He would only beat himself up more, but knowing Peter, he just had to know.
"Tell me." He insisted.
"I know what's wrong with Harry." She confessed, and Peter was at a loss for words.
"You what?"
"He's terminally ill like his mom was." Megan sighed. "He's able to live with it, but that's why the day of the explosion he went into a coma. The mix of the loss of oxygen and the illness took a toll and he just slipped into a coma just like that."
"I could've saved him." Peter choked up. "If only I knew-"
"No one but Norman and Harry himself knew." She said, sitting down next to him and trying to comfort him. "It was never your fault, ever."
"But if I knew I could've tried harder. I could've pushed myself." He said. No matter what, Peter would continue to blame himself. It practically ate him alive that Harry was in that building, but just as Megan suspected, finding out about his illness broke Peter into a million pieces.
"Peter, I hope one day this doesn't kill you slowly anymore." Megan teared up. "But knowing you feel this way kills me too."
"Meg." Peter cries, taking her in his arms and keeping her close to him. "You're not at fault."
"And you're not either." She whispered. If anything, it was Otto Octavius, but Norman never saw it that way. Otto may be behind bars, but it wasn't enough for all the crimes he committed. Nothing would satisfy him until Harry wakes up.
Letting go of his embrace a little, Megan cups Peter's cheeks and kisses him gently, tears still streaming down her face as she did. As much as this situation took a toll on their lives, they didn't lose the love they would always have for each other. Megan and Peter were soulmates, even if they didn't see it themselves.
"I love you so much." Megan said.
"I love you more." Peter smiled a little.
Megan and Peter would make things right no matter what it took. Harry will wake up, Norman will be punished, and most importantly, justice will be served.
