storyline.

i, as an avid fanfic reader, am here to crack down on fanfics that lack originality and flare and direction.

sorry to break it to you, but any story is unsuccessful without a proper outline. for example, my story "save me" never had an outline, therefore explaining the lack of flow from one idea to another. learning from that mistake, i began making story outlines, knowing exactly what i needed to cover in each chapter. i knew the ending, i knew what was in the next chapter, and i knew how many chapters there would be in total.

now, you don't have to go as far as i did and separate it into chapters like that, but come on. have some sort of rough outline. beginning, middle, and end. a story isn't complete without these.

then, you need the peak/climax, where the conflict happens along with gradual character development. a lot of times I read fanfiction with like, no conflict. maybe the conflict is a fight between the protagonist and antagonist. maybe it's family problems. like come on, there's so many options here.

i see fanfics all the time where the dialogue is written like screenplay?? if that's the style and it pertains to the story, then go for it. but if it's just written as part 1 and part 2, then i'm sorry but it's lowkey not entertaining.

oh and another thing, sometimes grammar and spelling is so bad that i want to cry? at least get someone to look it over and edit it, man. i'll edit it if you want. like bruh - you have like twenty million resources including websites that will check over spelling and grammar and sentence structure.

observe. learn. apply.
