"Is it necessary for me to come now?"

"Shut up and Don't ask any questions", he shouted.

"We can't keep you any longer here.You have become a nuisance".

She felt a tinge of happiness when she heard she was leaving the dreaded place, but this was not the right time to go out.

"My stomach is aching and I feel really uncomfortable. Can we at least go by car?"

"Do you want more thrashings from me ?", he threatened her.

"No, Please. I'll come with you now", she said terrified.

She sat pillion on his bike, with great difficulty.

There was a strange smell around him and she suspected him to be drunk, the thought of which made her scared to the extreme.

She leaned a little backwards to look at his face in the rear view mirror.She saw his eyes were red and he was definitely drunk.

She read it and thought to herself, "The irony".

There was thunder, the sky darkened and It seemed sure that it would rain.

Praying to god that no harm will befall them, she tightly held her grip.

He started the engine and drove out of the front verandah of the house .

He drove at high speed, with her screaming for him to go slowly.

But, he wouldn't listen to her.

Soon, it started drizzling and mist started to fill the air.

They were going through a deserted road now, with one or two vehicles occasionally passing them.

The moon was bright and she could make out the dark silhouette of bushes and trees on both sides of the road.

She had a sudden sensation of nausea.

She looked front to tell him to stop the bike and saw a minivan coming opposite to them with its headlights too bright, so she closed her eyes shut.

"There is a van approaching us. Please be careful ", she told him.

There was no response from him.

So, she opened her eyes and to her horror , she saw that their bike was just a few yards from the approaching van and he hadn't steered the bike to the other side.

"Look out ! ", she screamed, while the bike rammed onto the van with full force.

She was thrown off the bike and she hit the hard road, while the bike burst into flames, with him on it.

Within a second, everything was over.

Two lives were lost that night.
