8. Why can't we be friends?

(3rd Person PoV)
"This sucks!" Jimmy shouted.
"That's the first that we'll ever agree on," Scott noted while crossing his arms.
It was currently the next day, very early morning, and the two of them were at the park where they first found out about them being magical boys.
Owen and Norman had taken them there for training/bonding exercises but it hasn't gotten them anywhere.
The first thing that they tried was an ice breaker but nothing came to mind.
So Norman and Owen decided to skip that and made them do tasks like grabbing the biggest stick and something like that.
But they had to work together on finding that stick.
Nah, they would get super competitive about finding the stick and would bicker which one was bigger.
"The leaf does not count! We didn't count that moss on the rock so we shouldn't count the leaf!" Jimmy shouted.
"It was not part of the rock! We agreed on that but the leaf is part of the stick. So it has to be the biggest stick!" Scott argued.
"Ok, stop it. On to the next activity," Norman butted in and took the stick away from them.
"You see, I told you it wouldn't work. They're too much of an opposites of each other," Owen whispered.
"But they're our chosen. This has to work in order to get Poppy Love Cure to work," Norman whispered back.
Owen spat at him which Norman dodged.
"Ok, that's going to be enough for today. Since it's a school day, you should be heading over there now. We'll pick this up once you're done," Norman called out to them which made the two boys groan at this.
Jimmy picked up his school bag and tossed it onto his shoulder.
"This will never work. We bicker and argue too much to be in sync," he sighed.
"Second time I'll agree. Don't get use to it," Scott scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"Wasn't planning on it," Jimmy muttered under his breath.
"Hey Jim-Bro!" A voice made him look behind him.
"Joel! What's up?" Jimmy waved as Joel jogged up to him.
"Got up bright and early for my morning jog. Gotta feel refreshed in the morning," he explained.
"I can see that," Jimmy noted.
"Ah right. Forgot to mention that Fwip moved our usual DND meeting to tomorrow. Something about a secret meeting," Joel said. He seemed to be addressing the two of them.
"Hmm, he did mention that," Scott said.
"Wait wait. Are you in the DND club now?" Jimmy asked.
"Yeah, what of it?" Scott asked.
Well this is just great, Jimmy thought with a sigh. He, Scott and Joel walked in silence for a moment before he suddenly remembered something.
"Hey Joel. Sorry about your cancelled party. I would have really come this time," Jimmy told him.
"It's fine. Besides I'm going to reschedule it once Shubble, Katherine and Joey get better. Can't leave them out," Joel explained.
He then turned to Scott.
"You're welcome to come as well," he said.
"Yeah, why not. I got nothing to do in the weekends," Scott said, looking through his phone, seemingly bored.
"Cool. Let me just give you my number and I'll text you when it happens," Joel fished out his phone and showed Scott it.
Scott typed some things in and Joel pulled his phone away from Scott.
"Alright. Text me something so I can have your number saved," Joel explained with Scott nodding.
Before Scott could do that, they heard a loud thrack noise which made them flinched.
"Is that coming from the Duck pond?" Jimmy asked.
They kept walking to see three men in black suits and two other people standing in front of them.
One was a small toddler with blond hair and blue eyes while the other was an older teen with fluffed up black hair and a black suit.
Jimmy immediately recognized that the older teen was Squid.
He seemed to be protecting the entrance to the Duck pond. He also seemed to have a bruise on his cheek.
"You can't tear this pond down. It has been here for years! You can't disturb nature like that!" He shouted.
"Listen! We have a license to build here. Whether you move out of the way or you're going to get a worse bruise than that," one of the men said.
"I refuse!" Squid shouted.
"Shoot. Are they going to tear down the Duck pond? I loved that place when I was a kid," Joel sighed.
"Same. I used to feed the ducks bread....until we found out that it was bad for them so we would later feed them oats and stuff," Jimmy explained.
"What's special about the duck pond?" Scott asked.
"Oh right. Forgot that you're new here. The Duck pond is essentially in the name. It's a pond where ducks go. They're very friendly, more friendlier than most ducks as long as you don't mess with them. Parents would take kids here to go see them and sometimes special events happen where the ducks would chill in the pond and watch. It's a must see as long as you don't litter and feed the ducks bread," Joel explained.
"So it's a very special place for everyone?" Scott asked and they nodded.
"Huh...," he turned his attention back to the men and Squid who were still arguing with each other.
So they think they can just waltz in here and build over a special place for everyone and that whatever they're building could potentially harm the ducks? I hate people like that, Scott thought and continued on walking with a scowl on his face.
"Hey wait up! Geez, you can't take your eyes off him for one minute," Jimmy called out.
"I'm flattered that I'm very eye catching to see," Scott called out.
"What?" Jimmy sounded confused.
"Oh right, Jimmy," Joel suddenly said and held up his phone again.
"Yeah?" Jimmy turned to look at him.
"Isn't today a student council meeting? Since you're the president, you should be getting there early," Joel said and showed him the time.
"...OH COD!" Jimmy yelped and ran as fast as he could to school.
Scott and Joel sweatdropped at this.
At the school, Jimmy was panting and was catching his breath. The Vice President, Puffy, and the Secretary, False, were waiting for him. Puffy was tapping her foot impatiently.
"You're late," she told him as soon as he finally caught his breath.
"Yeah yeah, I know. Got caught up with something," Jimmy explained.
"Jimmy, I specifically told you to place important meeting dates on your phone. This is very important meeting that we all agreed to last week," False told him.
"I'm aware! Sorry alright!" Jimmy snapped before sighing.
"I just didn't have a good morning. I'll come earlier next time," he said.
"Alright. The rest are waiting so let's go. I'll even buy you a water from the vending machine," Puff assured him with a smile.
"Thanks," Jimmy said and the three of them walked into the school.
(Meanwhile)
Squid was leaning on a brick wall in an alleyway, breathing heavily while blood trickled down his forehead.
A teen around his age with long pink dyed hair with brown roots and a white dress shirt was standing next to him.
"When I said that you could babysit him for some extra cash, this isn't what I meant. I get that government sucks here but try to pick a fight with them when he's not around," the teen said.
"I know! I know! But it's just unfair! I want him to experience the Duck pond like we did. I want others to experience the Duck pond and I don't want the ducks to get harmed. But those stupid people!" Squid shouted and pounded his fist on the wall.
"I understand. I would personally commit arson on those people's property but not in front of him. He's just a toddler and I want him to enjoy his childhood innocence for as long as possible. Getting into unnecessary fights isn't helping with that," the teen told him.
"So we do nothing?! Is that what you're saying, Techno? I didn't expect that from you, who got into a potato war with me when we were kids," Squid huffed.
"I never said that. Bruh. We need to find a better solution that doesn't involve stitching you up," Techno pointed out.
"...I just wish that things didn't have to change so quickly. I wished that...everything would be so simple!" Squid exclaimed.
Techno was about to say something when he felt his phone buzz.
He turned away to look at him and read the text message that was sent to him.
"My dad wants me back home. I'll be at school late for this but it's important," Techno said but no response came from his rival.
"...Squid?"
A/N: yay an update! Also Happy Halloween (at the time of writing this).
This came to me in a dream so that's why I have motivation to write in this.
Dw, Jimmy and Scott get better at talking to each other without being at each other's throats but for now, it's them bickering.
I have nothing else to say other than...
