Chapter 3 - Masks and souls
"My uniforms are here!!!" You gasp excitedly. "Oh how I wish I didn't need to go undercover..."
"You like the black uniform better?" Your bond transforms, and you gasp.
"PUT SOME CLOTHES ON-"
"I'm literally a regular human being in this form." Your bond grumbles, and he puts his uniform on. "Why? You simping?"
His hair is orange, and his eyes hold a flame brighter than the sky. He's significantly taller than you, and he's kind of a pain in the ass. But to be fair, you were the one who created him.
"Fifi."
"It's Helios while in this form."
"Helium." You snicker.
"Yirium Nitrogen." He smirks at you.
"YOU DID NOT-" You gasp offendedly.
"Ignoring that, how'd you get me a uniform?"
"I told my sister my bond needed a uniform." You hum. "You know? How you have a humanoid form?"
"Actually, I'm curious about that dragon girl. She seems to have her natural form as a dragon instead of a humanoid." Helios checks the uniform's sizing on him, and he hums. "It fits me."
"Well, some things are just weird," You hum. "Androgynous"
Your form changes, and your body slims into one of a model. Your facial shape stays the same, and you slip the mask on.
"Shall we go?"
"Let me change." The bird transforms back, and he lands on your shoulder. Better?
"Change back." You hum. "I don't want a bond while being Mask."
He obeys and stays behind.
"Hide yourself, I want you following behind me instead."
"Of course."
You walk through the halls, making your way to the room.
"Are you part of the disciplinary committee too?"
It's Arthur.
Dear Lord, I am so sorry for yelling at you yesterday.
You nod.
He opens the door, and a lion roars in your face.
Sylvie scratches the lion, and you sigh.
"Well, that sure didn't go as planned." A blonde-haired boy walks behind the animal.
"I take it as an elaborate plan to test how thick our skin was?"
"Oh, you're the masked member the director was talking about!" The boy smiles at you, and you nod. "And it seems that you're the interesting one Director Goodsky picked up."
His vibes are off.
Don't need to tell me twice.
You nod, and the boy raises a brow.
"Not much of a talker?"
You nod again.
"Then... did you get into here through connections?" He hums. "Blood doesn't lie."
"What?" Arthur raises a brow.
"Just an old saying." He smiles and holds out his hand. "Anyway, my name is Kai Crestless, a fourth year student. You can just call me Kai, though."
Is he our ticket in?
Yes, he is.
"Arthur Leywin. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
You nod.
"The director said to just call you Mask." The boy smiles. "Is that alright?"
You nod.
He's not from here.
Yeah, I think he's from one of the other continents.
You stare at him, deep in thought.
Metal arts.
Alacrya?
Most likely.
You tune out, thinking hard about him.
"Hello?"
A girl with dyed hair waves her hand in front of your face.
You jump back lightly, holding your hand up to stop Helios from attacking.
"Mask, right?"
You nod.
"My name is Doradrea Oreguard," The girl smiles.
You nod again.
"Come on, the rest of the officers are waiting."
You stare at Kai.
"Think I'm handsome?"
You hold your arms up in an X shape and then point at his wrists.
"My ability?"
You nod.
"My deviant is metal," He smiles.
Alacrya.
You confirm with Helios. Suddenly, you're dragged by your wrist, and the door to the room opens.
"EVERYONE! THE LAST TWO ARE HERE!" Doradrea announces.
"I knew it! It really is you, Arthur!" Prince Curtis stands up from his seat. "And you're Mask?"
You nod.
My neck hurts from nodding.
You look at your surroundings, and you go up the stairs to grab a book instead. Arthur seemed to know everyone already.
"NEWBIE!"
You turn your head and glare at the voice.
The prince jumps at your gaze, and he scratches his neck. "Sorry, I wanted you to get to know everyone."
You nod, and you ditch the book.
Helios, take it back to our room.
Will do.
Your bond disappears, and you find that there are more people now.
"I'm Claire Bladeheart," The red-haired girl smiles.
"Feyrith Ivysaar the third."
"Prince Curtis."
"Princess Kathyln." The black-haired girl nods.
"Two twerps?"
You stare up at the taller male. He holds his hand out, and you shake his hand.
Ah, gravitational magic. You stand there, unaffected, and the male raises a brow.
The team gasps.
"Theodore, Theodore Maxwell. Pleasure to meet you, Mask."
You nod.
MY NECK HURTS ARHGHHH!!! THAT GRAVITY MAGIC WASN'T ANY HELP WHATSOEVER ARHGHGHH
"Today's the first time we'll be showing our faces to the student body!" Claire beams.
You stare at the girl.
You pull out a feather and write in the air.
Did we need to prepare anything?
The council is stunned, and then Curtis smiles. "No, the student council will be doing the talking. We just have to walk in and look tough."
Alright.
"Is that how you'll communicate with us?" Feyrith asks.
Yep.
"All right then," Claire speaks up. "Let's show all of the entitled students out there what they'll be up against if they choose to break the rules!"
You wait backstage with the rest of the group and listen to the princess speak.
I'm back.
"Please join me in welcoming them... The disciplinary committee!!" The princess speaks, and you follow the rest of the group on stage.
You meet eyes with someone in the crowd.
A smirk etches onto your face under the mask.
