Chapter 67: Where Is Natsu Dragneel?

Where is Natsu Dragneel?

The Iron Dragon Slayer and I stared up at the dark, tall building with hate. I could practically feel the dark waves coming off Gajeel. Who was baring his fangs while clenching his hands into fists. I knew he could feel my dark hatred as well.
We had found this place thanks to that man that had thought he could kill us. In the end he was the one with no heartbeat.

"Ready, Gajeel?" I asked with no emotion in my voice. In order for me to do this, I would have to shut down all my raging emotions, like I had done all those other times. I had to keep myself distant.
An emotionless husk of a person.

"Gi hi hi, let's go get the Salamander." Gajeel said with a savage grin on his metal pierced face.

Natsu.

We rushed forward and the two guards stationed out front saw us instantly. We were on them before they could scream. Gajeel made his hand into iron and he made it extend. Gajeel's iron arm hit the guy in the stomach and with a bloody cough he went down.

My eyes locked on the guard in front of me and I withdrew one of my gleaming daggers. I threw it and it sank hilt deep into the guard's throat. With a gurgle he went down.

I ran passed him, swiping my dagger as I went. I caught up with Gajeel who was hidden in the shadows of the wall. I went over to him and put my back to the cold, brick wall as well.

With a solemn nod to each other we slinked forward.

We made it to the large steel door and I looked to Gajeel for help. He did his little laugh and calmly walked over to the steel door. With barley a grunt he punched the door and his iron clad fist went straight through.

He looked over at me and smirked. With a flick of his wrist the heavy steel door fell inwards with a loud BOOM!
So much for being ninjas. I walked over to my partner and shook my head at him with a smile on my face.

"Show off." I scoffed, he shrugged one broad shoulder, and crossed his arms over his chest.

He tilted his head toward the busted down door, "Ladies first." I snorted while walking over the door and passed Gajeel. "Lady? Pssh, please." I said with a roll of my eyes as I flung my dagger at the man who had been running toward me with his sword drawn. "Oh, of course, what was I thinking." The Slayer's gruff voice made its way to my ears as he strolled right in. "You're more like a Demon Lady." Gajeel said while he kicked two guys away with his iron clad leg.

I giggled as I brought my second dagger down and sliced through a Dark Wizard's throat. "Better." After we had hacked and slashed our way down the hallway, Gajeel and I stopped to catch our breath.

We had stopped at two possible passage ways. "Gajeel, do you smell him?" I asked him breathlessly. The Mage paused for a moment then shook his head. "I can't smell a damn thing." My shoulders dropped and I took a deep breath.

Hold on, Natsu. Hold on.

I turned to Gajeel and whatever he saw in my eyes made him narrow his eyes. "No. There ain't no way." I walked up to him and I had to stretch up to my tippy toes to place my hands on his shoulders. "Gajeel...this is the only hope we have of finding him and taking him home with us." I reasoned to him. "We have to go our separate ways from here." Gajeel turned his head to the left passage and let out a frustrated breath.

"I ain't gonna be able to change yer mind, am I?" I shook my head no. I was about to let go of his shoulders when he put his hand on the top of my head and ruffled my hair. "Don't go and die on me, alright, Little Fairy?"
He looked away for a moment as he grumbled, "Salamander would burn me alive."

I chuckled and nodded. Because he would do that, wouldn't he? Gajeel let go and we both went to our separate passages. We looked at each other and I smiled softly. "Thanks, for coming, Metal Head." I said with a smile and a hand on my hip. Gajeel rolled his crimson eyes and crossed his arms. "Whatever."

Then he began to stalk off, I shook my head at him, and began to walk down my own passageway. Before I lost sight of Gajeel I heard him mutter, "Ya better not do anything stupid." I nodded my head at his words, even though he couldn't see it. "You either," I whispered.

I knew he heard it because before the shadows completely swallowed him I heard him laugh under his breath.
I turned and stalked down the dark passageway all alone.
****
A scream ripped from my throat as I brought down my blood soaked dagger. With one swift movement I sank it into the guard's chest. With barely a sound he fell to his knees. I brought up my leg and kicked him away. I rushed up to my next two targets and slashed down with both my daggers.

They didn't even have a chance to call for their Magic. They were dead before their bodies hit the blood soaked floor. My face was blank as I surveyed the area around me. Bodies were scattered everywhere. Some were missing limbs, while others were just a bloody heap of flesh, all were dead.

"Huh, perhaps I should have left one alive." I muttered with a frown. My eyes darted to the left and I turned my head slowly over my shoulder. A male guard was standing there with his body trembling.

He was staring at me with such fear in his eyes that it did something to my heart. But, then I remembered that...these people...I clutched my daggers tighter in my palms...my teeth were clenched tightly together as anger flooded in. These people...I took a step forward and the man stumbled back.

He tripped over one of his fellow guard's dismembered arm and he fell into the guard's blood. "Please...p-please...don't k-kill me." He said with tears of fear in his eyes as he brought up his hand to keep me back or to do a lousy job of protecting himself.

My eyes bored into this man...he was one of them...one of the people...these Dark people...took him away from me.
And he dared ask of me to spare him?
I dropped into a crouch beside the trembling man. "Well, that depends on two things." I told him, cocking my head to the side.

"W-what are the two t-things?" He stuttered while looking up at me. I brought up one of my daggers and stared at the blood dripping off the tip.

"Firstly," I muttered with a bored tone, "you're going to tell me something." Drip...
Drip...
Went the blood.

"Secondly, it depends on my mood." I said with a bone chilling smirk. I could hear his heavy breathing turn erratic. "W-what d-do y-you want to-to know?"

I let out an annoyed breath, "Stop with that stuttering." The man blinked and nodded his head rapidly.
I looked him dead in the eye and said coldly, "Where is Natsu Dragneel?"

The man gulped and I saw his hand move a fraction. You don't want to do that, I thought to myself with a small smile.
He did it anyway.
His hand shot up and something gleamed in his hand as he brought it toward me. I sighed and caught his wrist before the small blade could connect with my eye. I chuckled darkly and with a small flick of my hand I heard bones snap.

The guard's scream of pain bounced off the walls. The blade fell from his hand and to the floor with a loud clatter.
I tisked at the man for his stupidity. "That wasn't very nice, ya know." Before the man could do anything I slashed my dagger across his wrist. His screams echoed off the walls as he grabbed his now heavily bleeding wrist. "You will bleed out in exactly two minutes." I told him with my voice laced with calmness that neither one of us felt. "But I can stop the blood flow and you can live." I told him with a blank face.

"All you have to do is tell me where the Dragon Slayer that you took is." I muttered soothingly while he clenched his teeth in pain. Then with a quick breath, he jerked his head down the hall. "Go down the hall...turn to your right," he sucked in a sharp breath before continuing, "then take another right...y-you will come across a-a door..." His eyes began to close and I slapped him across the face to keep him conscious.

His eyes snapped open but they were already getting dull. Shit. "Oi! You better stay awake! What then?" I asked hurriedly. The guard opened his mouth and nothing came out. Well, except the blood that trickled lazily down the side of his mouth. Then with a shuttering breath he went limp. A growl rumbled through me as I threw his body to the side.

He was weaker than I had previously thought.

I got up and quietly walked to where he had told me to go. I followed his directions and passed safely through the mazes of hallways. There were no more guards that I could see or hear.
I hoped Gajeel was doing all right.

But it seemed like I had picked the right passageway based on the dead guard's words. As I drew nearer to the door where he had told me before he had died, I heard guards up ahead. I put my back up against the wall and listened to the guards as they spoke.

"She's coming for The Slayer, ain't she?" One of the guards asked the other with his voice trembling. The other guard huffed, "Don't be like that! It's just one girl."

Yay? Well that one girl is kicking all you're asses.

"The metal guy that she was with is not even with her."
He laughed, "I bet the others have killed her already." The first guard let out a breath and I heard him swing his sword through the air. "Yay, you're right. We sent everyone down there to handle her! There must have been...what? Twenty to thirty people?"

Actually it had been twenty eight.

The second guard chuckled, "Oh, yay, she's probably cut up and dead by now." Just as I was about to walk out from behind the corner to show the bastards just how 'dead' I really was...I heard a scream that pierced my heart.

I stopped dead as my heart gave a painful throb. It...it couldn't be... I thought with wide eyes.

"Master's at it again." One of the guards muttered. The other man sighed, "I almost feel bad for that boy."

I didn't even think.
That was all I needed to hear.

I flew out from behind the corner and threw myself at the two guards. They were caught completely by surprise. The first guard had enough time to draw his sword. But not enough time to attack. I launched my dagger and it sank into the man's eye. He went down.

I spun, already throwing my dagger at the last guard, he didn't even see it coming. Headshot. I called for my daggers and they came to my palms.

I clutched them tightly and took a breath for whatever horror I was about to face.
I ran down the hall toward the only door there was left. It was big and it was made out of steel, just like the first door had been. I didn't have Gajeel with me and I wasn't by any means an Iron Dragon Slayer. I studied the door with impatience.

I don't have time for this! Just as the frustrating thought came into my mind, another heart wrenching scream came from behind the door. It was so full of pain that it made the air leave my lungs in a painful rush. My heart twisted in my chest and I could feel rage creeping in.

Burning hot rage filled me.

I clutched my daggers tighter in my hands until the dagger's hilts buried into my palms.

I hated feeling useless.

I could feel my daggers start to vibrate with power.

I hated not being able to help the one person that I had promised to protect.

My daggers suddenly lit up with a brilliant blue light.

I hated being weak.

Another hoarse scream pierced my already broken heart.

I hated all these people who had taken my most precious treasure away from me!

The blue light engulfed my body until it looked like a part of me.

I knew without looking that my blue eyes were now glowing an icy blue.
I hated them.
I hated them.
I hated THEM!
With a roar that could rival a Dragon's, I put all my strength into my throw that sent both my daggers, that were alight with icy blue light, at the steel door. With a blinding light the daggers hit the large door with a soft thud.

Time seemed to stop when the sound barrier broke. The blue light engulfed the door rapidly. With a groan the door fell inwards with a deafening wail.
I was in.
I called for my steaming daggers as I ran in and they flew to my palms.

My hair and cloak were flying wildly behind me as I ran with the brilliant blue light around me. I rounded the corner and stopped dead with what I saw.

It was a nightmare...
A horrible nightmare.

Blood.

Blood everywhere. On the floor. On the walls. Even on the ceiling. All around me there was nothing but crimson.

Everywhere I looked it filled my vision and nose with its metallic scent.

Blood. Blood. Blood!

And...oh...Right in the middle of it all was the one person who could make my heart skip a beat whenever he looked my way.

Natsu.

A pained moan left my suddenly dry throat. I took a staggering step forward as my knees began to tremble. A cry broke from my mouth. My eyes shook as I unwillingly kept my unsteady gaze locked onto the wall of blood in front of me.
Natsu...my Natsu...was chained to the blood soaked wall by his hands, feet, and waist. Another pained moan came from me.
He was covered in blood.

He was wearing it like it was a second skin.
Like it was his own skin.

My heart cracked.

My heart broke.

My heart shattered.

Tears ran down my face in a never ending flow. The tears made a clear path through all the blood and grit on my cheeks. My mind was telling me that this wasn't real. That that wasn't my Natsu chained to those walls. That this wasn't his blood.
My throbbing heart told me a different story.
I believed my shattered heart.

With a choked sob I ran unsteadily to the unconscious bloody boy who hung from the wall by his blood soaked shackles. Just when I was about a foot away from him I was thrown violently back. I landed on the floor hard and rolled with the impact. Once I had stopped skidding across the slippery floor, I quickly looked up, my blue light flared when my eyes landed on my most hated person. The person who had started all of this. The person who had taken Natsu from me. The person who had ruined my life.

The Dark Wizard Master.

One side of my lips tilted up in a chilling smile. "The Dark Wizard Master," I chuckled as I stood up,
"Finally..."
