Chapter 38: Levy?
Levy?
With Natsu and Gajeel in front we began walking. We had no idea where we were going but we had to at least try to find our way out.
Upfront Gajeel and Natsu continued to argue with one another and throw insults at each other.
It was quite entertaining.
Levy sighed beside me. "It's like Natsu and Gray with these two." I laughed at her comment. "I know." I looked over at Levy and she had her attention firmly on Gajeel. I smiled softly at her.
"Levy..." I began but was cut off when Gajeel suddenly threw a punch at Natsu. Natsu ducked and came back with his fist on fire. As the two fought Levy and I glanced at each other. We both sighed and nodded at one another.
"You got yours?" Levy asked.
"And you get yours." I answered.
We both went to get our boys before they brought the whole cave down. I grabbed Natsu around his chest and yanked him back. Which was a very hard thing to do.
Levy went behind Gajeel and she had to wrap her arms around his middle, since he was so freaking tall, compared to her small frame.
"All right, boys! That's it!" I yelled at both of them. "Your gonna bring down the whole cave!" Levy chimed in. Natsu and Gajeel glared at each other and yelled at the same time.
"He started it!"
Both boys paused and looked at each other.
"What did you say?!" Natsu yelled.
"You're the one who started it!" Gajeel shouted back.
"That's it! I'm all fired up now!"
"That's fine with me! Come at me, Pinky!"
"I don't care who started it! I'm gonna finish it!" I shouted at both of them. They both shrank back but they kept shooting daggers at one another. I let out a breath and ordered them to keep walking, but to stay a healthy distance from one another.
They did...for a short while.
Levy and I were talking when Natsu suddenly shouted, "You're going down, Porcupine!" Levy looked at me questionably. I sighed heavily and pointed to Gajeel's hair. "Yay, that's what I thought, too."
Levy shook her head, "I don't see it." I poked her in the side. "That's because you liiiiiike him." I rolled my tongue like Happy would. Levy blushed and slammed her hand over my mouth.
"Shhh! Dragon hearing, remember!" I rolled my eyes and mumbled something behind her hand. With an apologetic look she took her hand away. "Sorry, Fey-chan, what did you say?"
I smiled at her, as the boys continued to fight, "I said-" The ground began to shake violently and some rocks tumbled to the ground. Levy's and my body turned rigid and we slowly turned to the boys who had each other by the collars of their shirts.
"Natsu!"
"Gajeel!"
"Who did that?!" We both yelled.
They looked at each other and with blank faces they said.
"You have the same problem, Salamander?"
"Yep."
"We are not problems!" Levy and I both fired back at them.
Both Dragon Slayers sighed just as the ground shook again.
The ground shook again and I had to lean a hand against the wall to stay upright. "Everyone ok-" I began but I was cut off when Natsu screamed my name.
I looked up and to my horror a large boulder had broken off from the wall and was coming straight for us. Unfortunately, I was the one right beneath the damned thing.
With a shocked breath I started to run. Natsu was running toward me with his arm outstretched to me. "Natsu, run!" I screamed to him as I pushed myself to go faster.
I heard a crash from behind me and knew that some of the smaller rocks had hit the ground. A shadow fell over me and I knew without looking up it was that big piece of the cave's ceiling.
Natsu reached me and grabbed my arm. The two of us began running side by side. I looked around for Levy and Gajeel. I saw them a little ways ahead of us. They were running to a smaller looking cave.
Natsu and I tore after them.
BOOM!
I cried out as I fell to the ground as the ground shook horribly. Natsu was still standing but he was having trouble keeping his balance. I picked myself off the ground and grabbed his hand. We ran faster and some smaller rocks started to hit us from above. I let out a yelp when a rather large rock hit me in the head.
Something warm and wet ran into my eye and I blinked rapidly to clear my vision. Gajeel and Levy had already made it inside the small cave and Natsu and I were right behind them.
We both dived for the smaller cave as the cave shook again. Knocking larger rocks loose. We hit the cave floor and rolled with the impact. Natsu grabbed me and used his body to stop the worst of the fall.
We stopped rolling just when another large rock, fell from above, and landed where we had been only moments before.
We were trapped.
I was breathing heavily and so was everyone else. I was having a major case of déjà vu because I felt Natsu's body on top of mine.
"Salamander, make yourself useful and give us some light." Gajeel said somewhere in the darkness. I could feel Natsu shift and then there was light. He had lit his fingers on fire and was holding them in front of his face.
He looked down at me and cocked his head to the right. "You okay, Freya?" I nodded my head. "Yay, you?" He didn't answer but his eyes narrowed. He brought up his other hand and rubbed his thumb across my cheek. "You're bleeding, Fey." He told me.
I blinked, I was? I reached up and felt around. I hissed when my finger touched the cut on the side of my head. "It hurts, doesn't it?" I shook my head, "Only if I touch it." He sat up and grabbed the end of his vest. He ripped a piece off and wrapped the piece around the cut.
"There." He said with a smile. "Thank you, Natsu." I told him while my heart leaped in my chest at what he did. "Ha, this is embarrassing to witness." Gajeel muttered. I could feel my cheeks grow hot. I forgot that Gajeel and Levy were here! I quickly got up and dusted myself off.
I cleared my throat and turned to face Levy and Gajeel. Only...I didn't see Levy. I cocked my head to the side and narrowed my eyes. "Gajeel...where's Levs?" Gajeel blinked and looked beside him.
When he didn't see her, he quickly looked behind him. "Shrimp?" He called out. My heart clenched and I started to panic when she didn't answer.
"Levy!" I yelled. Natsu joined in along with Gajeel and I. Gajeel cupped his hands over his mouth and yelled, "Shrimp! Where you at?" I began to yell louder for her. "Levy!" I screamed.
Natsu made his flames bigger so we could see more. Gajeel suddenly froze and took off. I glanced at Natsu and then we ran after him. Gajeel stopped a little ways ahead and I saw his body go rigid. My heart was hammering against my chest.
I didn't like how he looked. I ran up to him and saw that his eyes were strained on the ground. I took a breath and looked down. What I saw made me drop to my knees and cover my mouth with my hands. Because there, lying on the ground before us, was Levy's yellow bandana...
It was covered in blood.
