Strange Feeling

"Natsu, you can wake up now." I said softly as I ran my fingers down his cheek. He stirred and muttered something under his breath. I think I heard, 'Shut up, Gray'. I smiled and flicked his forehead. "Come on, Natsu. Wake up."

He blinked open his eyes and those beautiful green eyes landed on me. Almost instantly a small smile appeared on his face.

"Fey?"

I sighed tiredly and smiled weakly at him. "I'm happy you're awake, Natsu." He sat up and winced a little when he moved his arm that was heavily bandaged. I frowned and my heart jumped in my chest. Huh, strange. What was this feeling that I had?

Relief perhaps? No, it seemed to be deeper than that... He turned his head to me and when we locked eyes, my heart leaped in my chest again. The hell...? But, right then I didn't care about anything else. Natsu...he was okay. That's all I could focus on.

Without thinking I reached up and wrapped my arms around his neck. I buried my face in his scarf and closed my eyes. Natsu paused for a moment and I could feel his chest vibrate as he laughed. "I didn't think you would miss me this much, Fey!" He laughed out, but he hugged me back.

It was strange...I had never done anything like this before. Hug someone. Feel relief that someone, besides myself, was alive.

It was a strange feeling...but I thought I could live with it. "Natsu, I'm so happy you're okay." I mumbled into his scarf. "Yay, I am too, are you all right?" I nodded into his scarf.

"I will be."

With each other's support we left that horrible town. As we waited for our train to arrive Natsu had asked me what had happened. I had told him that a man that lived in the town had saved us.

I told him that the man was the leader of the town and he was the one who had asked for our help. I told Natsu that the man had also paid us what he had promised he would.

I took out the Grand Jewels that I had found and showed it to him. He was happy and he started to mumble about all the food he and Happy could buy. I had smiled and looked away. I hated to have to lie to him...but I just couldn't find it in me to tell him about the man...or what I had done to him.

What I was most afraid about was the fact that Natsu had seen my power. Even though he hadn't said anything about it, I knew he would, eventually. As the train pulled up, I looked up at the dark sky. A few more good paying jobs and I will leave.

Even as I thought this my heart clenched. Natsu called my name and I looked over at him. He had a big smile on his face and he was waving at me to hurry up. I smiled and walked toward him.

How was I supposed to leave my new life behind?
