Magical 14

"My father is a lawyer in the United States, as are most of my family members. I'm the only one who wanted to work here in Korea," Taehyung explained his family background to Seokjin. It had been three days since their initial meeting set up by Habeom and Jungkook.

"But why did you decide to work here in Korea?" Seokjin asked curiously.

"Well, working in my own homeland is a great privilege. Even though there's a lot of competition and some people say I'm wasting my youth here," Taehyung answered.

"Would you like me to bring you lunch?" Seokjin asked, offering to pick up food from his favorite shop. This had become their routine.

"I'd love to try your cooking," Taehyung replied. Seokjin got out of the car, and Namjoon and Jimin watched from the transparent glass window of the shop.

"Would you like to meet my co-workers?" Taehyung smiled.

"Maybe next time. I need to go to the office. Don't worry, I'll adjust my schedule to meet your friends and family," Seokjin assured, nodding as Taehyung drove away.

~~~~~~~
Seokjin entered the shop, and immediately, Namjoon and Jimin approached him like reporters seeking a breaking news story.
"Seokjin, who was that?" Namjoon asked excitedly, surprising Seokjin.
"Seokjin, is that Tae-nung or Taeyang, the person Jungkook referred to you as?" Seokjin frowned at Namjoon's persistent questioning.
"What's his background? Is he from a good family?" Seokjin hadn't answered the first question yet, and Namjoon and Jimin continued to bombard him with more.
"Is he real, or are we just hallucinating?" Jimin asked, further confusing Seokjin.
"Is he a good guy or a bad guy?" Seokjin was surprised and confused by Namjoon's questions.
"Jinnie, did he come from this universe or another one?" Jimin continued his barrage of questions.
"Seokjin, did he ask you to get married? What date?" Seokjin frowned, overwhelmed by the constant questioning.
"Did he tell you he loves you?"
"Seokjin, what does he do for a living?"
"How much does he earn?"
"Is he real or a scam?"
Seokjin became increasingly irritated by their relentless questioning, finally shouting, "STOP IT! Both of you. My head is spinning. You're asking like police officers interrogating me non-stop!" Seokjin commented and left the couple with their unanswered questions.
~~~~~

"Really, they asked you that kind of question?" Taehyung laughed at Seokjin's story.

"Yeah, they kept asking about you. Do you want to meet them?" Seokjin was still curious about Taehyung's feelings and thoughts.

"I wouldn't mind, Seokjin. Like I told Jungkook, I'd love to meet your friends and family," Taehyung suggested while enjoying the kimchi rice Seokjin had cooked. Meanwhile, Seokjin's heart raced as Taehyung mentioned Jungkook's name. Now, Seokjin had to worry about Jungkook's situation.

"We have a weekend reunion at Kim Manor. I'll introduce you as my fiancé," Seokjin stated. Taehyung smiled while observing Seokjin's micro facial expressions. He noticed something was off, but decided not to press the issue.

"I'd love to," Taehyung replied. "Seokjin, I love the kimchi rice. It's been a while since I've eaten Korean dishes."

"Tomorrow, I'll cook japchae. Jungkook told me it's your favorite," Seokjin said with a smile. Meanwhile, Taehyung continued to watch Seokjin's micro expressions and smiled at him.

~~~~~~
As Seokjin left and returned to his shop, Taehyung continued working on his paperwork. Hoseok entered his office, carrying some files. Hoseok was a university friend of Taehyung's from Harvard. They had become friends after discovering they were both Korean and became roommates and classmates. Unlike Taehyung, Hoseok's family worked as company attorneys, and their salary wasn't enough for the entire family. His father had decided to move the family back to Korea, leaving Hoseok and his father behind since Hoseok was studying at Harvard and working as a part-time student. After graduation, Hoseok's father retired from the company he worked for. Hoseok stayed in the US and worked at Taehyung's family law firm until Taehyung decided to take over his uncle's law firm, as his uncle didn't have an heir to handle it.
"I saw a handsome guy walking by. Who is he?" Hoseok asked Taehyung curiously.
"That's Seokjin. Jungkook referred to him as his boyfriend or, should I say, someone I should get married to," Hoseok replied. Hoseok was confused. "What do you think of him?"
Hoseok chuckled. "I'd say he's pretty and seems polite." Taehyung nodded.
The weekend has arrived. Taehyung picked up Seokjin from his apartment and drove him to Kim Manor. Seokjin smiled when he saw Taehyung's car but noticed a stranger sitting in the passenger seat.
"Good morning, Seokjin. Sorry, are we late?" Taehyung asked, not wanting to make a bad impression on Seokjin.
"No worries, not yet. And?" Taehyung noticed Seokjin's glance towards Hoseok.
"Oh! I forgot. This is Hoseok, my assistant and also my university friend at Harvard," Taehyung introduced Hoseok.
"Nice to meet you, Seokjin. Taehyung has said many good things about you. I've seen you in Taehyung's office many times," Hoseok said, realizing he should be sitting in the backseat. "I'm sorry, Seokjin. It's a habit from university days, always sitting beside Taehyung." Hoseok attempted to get out of the car.
"It's alright, Hoseok. I can manage," Seokjin replied, declining.
Both Taehyung and Hoseok noticed Seokjin's action and decided to ignore it. However, Taehyung didn't want to appear awkward to Seokjin at this event.
"Are you sure, Seokjin?"
"Yes," Seokjin smiled.
~~~~~~~~

"It's frustrating that we need to defend that pervert when it's obvious he killed the poor girl. I feel terrible for the family, especially the parents. They're devastated," Hoseok vented, unable to contain his emotions about their recent case. They were handling a six-year-old school child's murder case, where the child was kidnapped, murdered, and the worst part was that Taehyung's team was defending the accuser.

"That's our job as lawyers. To make sure we defend our client," Taehyung explained.

"I still feel bad for the family. I hope the child is happy in the afterlife," Hoseok sighed, defeated by the situation. There was nothing they could do. Taehyung laughed and held Hoseok's hand.

"Don't stress yourself. I believe the other side will find new evidence. We still need to prove ourselves," Taehyung encouraged. Hoseok nodded. Seokjin noticed a special bond between Hoseok and Taehyung. Taehyung noticed Seokjin's silence in the back.

"Seokjin, are you okay back there?"

"I'm alright. I was just listening to your conversation," Seokjin answered. Hoseok glanced at Seokjin in the back.

"I'm sorry, Seokjin. Until now, we've been bringing our work into this," Hoseok worried about Seokjin.

"Don't think too much about it. I understand your feelings. It's heartbreaking for parents to lose their child," Seokjin commented.

"Seokjin, you're so kind," Hoseok commented on Seokjin's words.

~~~~~~
They arrived at Kim Manor. They greeted Aunt Yoon.
"Hello, Jinnie," Seokjin hugged his aunt. Then she noticed the two gentlemen getting out of the car. "Oh, Jinnie. You said you were bringing your fiancé. Which of these handsome gentlemen is Taehyung?" Aunt Yoon smiled at the two men.
"This is Hoseok, Taehyung's university friend," Seokjin pointed at Hoseok.
"Nice to meet you, madam," Hoseok greeted. Aunt Yoon blushed at his politeness.
"Stop calling me madam. Just call me Aunt Yoon. Besides, I'm still single," Aunt Yoon stated.
"Really? With your beauty, it's surprising you're still single. People in Korea must be blind," Hoseok commented, causing Aunt Yoon to blush even more at his statement.
"Stop, Hoseokie. So..." Aunt Yoon looked at Taehyung. "This is Taehyung. Nice to meet you. Jungkook was right. You're handsome." Seokjin's heart raced when he heard Jungkook's name.
"Is Jungkook here?" Seokjin asked his aunt.
"Of course. Kookie wouldn't miss our weekend reunion. He still wants to defeat your father at chess. That kid is so competitive," Aunt Yoon answered. "Anyway, let's go inside."
Aunt Yoon pulled Seokjin and Taehyung to the center and called everyone. "Everyone, I'd like you to meet Seokjin's fiancé, Taehyung." Everyone welcomed Taehyung and Hoseok. Then Seokjin's father arrived.
"Appa, I'd like you to meet Taehyung and Hoseok," Seokjin said.
"Nice to meet you, Judge Kim," Hoseok greeted.
"Stop calling me Judge. I'm happily retired," Seokjin's father stated.
"Are you the great Judge Jae Hyun?" Taehyung's eyes sparkled as he recognized the former judge. Taehyung shook hands with the judge. "Did you know, I'm one of your fans? The way you worked, and your great name are well-known in the university. I really admire you," Taehyung said, unable to contain his excitement.
"I'm glad. Let's go to our house. I know you must be tired from the long ride," Jae Hyun invited Hoseok and Taehyung to the manor, leaving Seokjin and seeing Jungkook far away, staring deeply at each other. Both of them miss each other.
"Seokjin, let's go!" Seokjin snapped out of his daydream or should we say staring contest with Jungkook.
