"Magic is the balance of the universe. We humans are gifted with the power to harness this magic, and it is one of the most important things that distinguished us as humans."

Ariana was confused. "Why is magic so important, anyway?"

Immediately, one of the bullies, a girl with curly strawberry blonde hair, said,"Ariana's just mad 'cause she doesn't have magic. Does that mean she's not human? That would explain a lot!"

Ariana slid down in her seat.

Luckily, Mrs. Harton came to the rescue. "Actually, Ariana had a very good question. Can you answer it, Holly?"

"No, ma'am."

"Then I would advise you stay quiet. The reason magic is so important is because it isn't possible for an animal to use it. Just because you haven't figured magic out yet, Ariana, doesn't mean that your any different from the rest of us."

The lunch bell rang, and the students flooded out. Mrs. Harton thought the conflict was over, but Ariana definitely heard someone whisper "Arianimal" as they left. She sighed, and walked to lunch.
