Izuku stood outside the car, trapped in one of his mother's famous bear hugs. Inko may be shorter and chubbier than her son, but she's a strong lady when it comes to her baby boy.

Izuku raised his hand to pat his mother's back but reconsidered when he thought about how he wouldn't get to hug his mother again until Christmas break rolled around. He securely wrapped his arms around his mother's neck and savored the calming, familiar warmth she radiated.

"Okay, mom, I really have to go now, or else I'll miss orientation." Izuku reluctantly pried himself away from his mother and kissed her cheek swiftly. "I love you, and I'll call you when I'm settled in."

"Oh, my baby." Inko sniffled and pulled her son in for one more quick hug as she pressed a chaste kiss to his forehead.

Izuku gave his mother a blinding smile before grabbing his bags and making a mad dash for the auditorium.

>< >< ><

One of the many cons of being short is that you had trouble seeing through a crowd, or in Izuku's case, it was looking over the many tall bodies standing in front of him to get a better look at the Legacies.

On his quest to find the auditorium, he'd stumbled upon a lost brunette with the name Uraraka Ochako and a tall blue-haired boy named Iida Tenya, who happened to be the leader of the Sapphire Legacy.

Even in their short time together, the trio had quickly taken a liking to each other, and Iida promised he'd try to get them both in his legacy.

This was how Midoriya found himself standing next to Uraraka on the stage in the auditorium with his name hovering over his head from a spell he was unfamiliar with. The two of them were still struggling to find Iida or the two other Legacies settled in the floor seats.

The Onyx Legacy was first to pick, and a disembodied female voice announced, "Jirou Koyka."

A name somewhere in the first row of newbies melted away in a flash of silver, and Izuku heard clunky footsteps against the wooden stairs.

The next to choose was the Ruby Legacy, and Izuku was surprised to hear a deep disembodied voice proclaim, "Midoriya Izuku."

Izuku looked overhead to see his name turn into silver sparkles and come together to materialize a key that dropped at his feet. He scrambled to pick it up and push through the tightly packed sea of bodies on the stage to make his way to the floor seats.

Izuku almost tripped down the few stairs as he started making his way over to who he assumed was the Ruby Legacy.

He was an incredibly good-looking young man who had Izuku's heart somewhere in his throat and his body tingling. He had two-toned hair split perfectly down the middle with white on the right and red on the left. The boy also possessed heterochromia meaning his right eye was dark brown while his left eye was a mesmerizing turquoise.

Only after Izuku had gawked at the boy's eyes for a good minute did he realize he was standing there like an idiot with more than a few curious gazes on him. He quickly moved to sit in the row behind the Ruby Legacy and made quick work of playing with the key clutched in his palm.

Now that he had a chance to look at it, Izuku noticed the key had a fairly sized bow, and there was a bar going down the center of the bow with a small ruby embedded in the center of the bar. He turned the key over in his hand to see the small gem visible on both sides.

As Izuku continued looking over the key, he wondered how the projection of his name turned into a solid object. "Probably a transmutation spell. . ."

"What about a transmutation spell?" Izuku practically jumps three feet in the air when a feminine voice speaks next to him.

He clutches the key to his chest as he turns to see a girl sitting in the seat next to him with amusement etched into her features.

Speaking of her features, she looked to be something of an anomaly. She had bubblegum pink skin to match her bubblegum pink hair made up of curly waves in an afro style. She had yellow irises housed in black scleras, and tan horns emerged from her hair.

"Um, well I," Izuku gulped. "I was just wondering how the projection of our names could change into these keys."

Izuku held up the silver key as he hears the Onyx Legacy state, "Aoyama Yuga."

"Yeah, that was pretty cool watching your name turn into something." The girl leans back in her seat and fiddles with the key. "I think they're the keys to our dorms or something."

"So, what's your name?" Izuku asks sheepishly at the same time the Ruby Legacy says, "Asui Tsuyu."

"Oh, my name's Ashido Mina, and you're Midoriya Izuku, the kid who stared at our legacy for like two minutes." Ashido smiles teasingly at Izuku.

"I didn't mean to!" An embarrassed flush rises to Izuku's freckled cheeks and the tips of his ears as he avoids Ashido's gaze. "I mean, he's just so handsome, and have you seen his eyes? They're two different colors, and I swear I was drowning in the left one. Also, his hair looked so soft, and I just wanted to run my fingers through it."

Izuku is caught in his rambling until a croaky voice snaps him out of his daze. "Are you okay, kero?"

Izuku looks past Ashido to who he assumes is Asui if he remembers her name correctly. She has long light green hair tied into a messy bun on top of her head and big, round black eyes.

"Oh yeah, sorry. That just happens sometimes." Izuku looks towards the stage where only a few people remain, trying to avoid any further conversation.

The rest of the choosing ceremony goes by quickly, and only two more people join their legacy. The first is a black-haired boy name Sero Hanta, and the second is a boy named Tokoyami Fumikage with the head of a crow. However, he and Ashido were far from being the only anomalies at the school.

The Legacies signaled for their groups to follow them out of the auditorium, and the three different groups were quick to follow their respective legacy.

Izuku caught sight of Uraraka and Iida, so he waved to them with a small closed-lip smile. He receives a big smile from Uraraka and a nod of the head from Iida. Izuku didn't blame him for not waving as he was leading his group.

Izuku focused his attention on staying with his group and taking in the architecture of the massive corridor they were walking through.

The ceiling had to be at least forty or fifty feet high, and chandeliers cast the hallway with a warm golden glow that made the area seem welcoming. Everyone's combined footsteps echoed off the walls, which were covered sparingly with oil paintings of Master Magicians dating back over a hundred years.

It wasn't long until the groups found themselves outside. The sun was beginning to set as they were guided to the school's back, where there were three distinct plots of land, each holding three buildings. The Legacies led them to the plot on the far left.

When they actually walked onto the plot, they were greeted with a courtyard filled with flora and three homey looking buildings that resembled cottages. Each of them had a respective gem embedded above the doorway, and Izuku saw that the Ruby cottage was in the center of the buildings.

Each Legacy leads their group into their cottage, and Izuku loved the immediate sense of calm he felt when he walked through the door.

There was a small living room and kitchen on the first floor, and Izuku was sure the dorms were on the upper floors.

"You can explore if you'd like," came the deep soothing voice of the Ruby Legacy. "The dorms are upstairs, and your key should unlock your room. If you have any questions, come to me, but don't waste my time with stupid ones."

With those words, the handsome boy jogged up the stairs, presumably going to his room.

"I guess the rumors about Endeavor's son being  cold are true." Izuku was beginning not to get jump scared by people talking into his ear without warning.

He turned to see Sero standing there, staring at the stairs where their Legacy had just disappeared.

"Wait," Sero's words were taking a moment to register completely in Izuku's head, and he felt stupid for not putting two and two together earlier. "That's Todoroki Shouto?"

"Yeah, man," Sero laughed at Izuku jaw slacked expression. "You never see him in the media because he avoids it, but that's Endeavor's youngest for sure."

"Wow, okay." Izuku closed his mouth and started walking towards the stairs. "I'm gonna go unpack."

"Have fun, man."

Izuku hiked up the strap of his black duffle bag as he began ascending the stairs on a quest to find his room. He'd tried five different rooms until room six unlocked.

He entered a practically barren room, only holding a bed, desk, and dresser. There was a window facing the back of the building and a closet next to the dresser.

Izuku rummaged through his duffel bag and pulled out a clean pair of sheets before dropping his bag by the door. He quickly made the bed before collapsing on it.

The transpired events washing over his petite fatigued body as he breathed in deeply.

Izuku's thoughts take a sudden turn to the Ruby Legacy or, as he now knew him, Todoroki Shouto.

"How did I not realize he was a Todoroki?" Izuku mumbled as he laid his arm over his eyes.

Izuku used a simple short distance conjuring spell to pull his blanket out of his bag and settle over him.

That night he dreamt of long corridors with chandeliers that cast a warm glow over someone with ethereal beauty and running his fingers over scar tissue on someone's face.
