Chapter 9
POV Viola
I went into a laboratory where we were supposed to study chemistry. I sat in one of the first rows.
I noticed Carrie approaching the classroom, I waved to her, she smiled at me and sat next to me.
"Hey Viola, how are you going today?" She asked.
"I'm okay, nothing supernatural happened"
"It's good to hear, not that I'm afraid I'll sink in the water or anything... You see what I mean, don't you?"
"Yeah" I giggled a little.
"I hope you understand something about chemistry, because I'll probably blow up the lab if I put things in a test tube," she told me.
"Yes, you have nothing to worry about," I replied with a smile.
"Hello students" entered the teacher class. He had a funny mustache and a strange accent.
He sat on the chair and read names.
"Kai Lin" read another name from the list.
"Here," she said. She was a table next to us. A girl with slanted eyes and smooth hair.
"Oh no," Carrie whispered to me.
"What happened?"
"We're with her at the same class"
"And that's a problem because ..?"
"She is one of the most evil girls I have ever known. She can be said to be like this girl who everyone is afraid of because she has a lot of power over others, in our case she is the annoying daughter of the principal"
"She doesn't look so bad," I said, glancing at her again.
"Yes, it can be misleading sometimes, just ... be careful," she said, and that was the end of our conversation.
"Now students, I want you to take the sodium chloride, the gas in the test tube and the solution of the potassium, put them into the test tube to the red line.
"Please," Carrie said, handing me the things.
"are you serious?" I asked her.
"Yes," she said, as if it were a rhetorical question.
"Okay, okay," I replied, taking things from her. I wore the white gloves on my hands, and the strange glasses I always put when I was experimenting on my face.
I took the sodium chlorine and potassium, when I finished with them I had to be very careful, so I slowly put the gas down until I reached the red line.
Something was strange in the test tube. The liquid was supposed to turn green, instead of a black color filling the tube, bubbles began to puff rapidly, I knew something was wrong.
"Get down!" I screamed loudly. Everyone bent down in panic, a few seconds later I heard a tremendous explosion, despite the noise I felt nothing.
I looked up, the whole table was dirty with liquid, the worse thing was that the teacher stood in front of me nervous, smeared with this liquid.
"You two," he pointed at me and Carrie, "are going to detention," he said nervously.
"You should be careful the next time," I heard a voice, it was Kai. She stood in front of Carrie, hands on hips, smiling diabolically.
I could feel the black liquid in my hair and spread a little on my shirt.
"You did it," Carrie said.
"What? Me? why would I do such a thing?" Kai asked innocently.
"Maybe you should be more careful," I told her back.
"What will you do to me?
"You don't want to try me," I said, trying to stay calm. Inside my body was burning with anger.
"I'm not afraid, even if you do something, one word for my mother, and you'll be removed from here," she said in a threatening voice.
She was so irritating to me, I was furious at this girl, who did she think she was? Oh, right, the principal's spoiled daughter.
I felt a familiar sensation in the stomach, an electric current that ran through my entire body, flowing through my entire bloodstream, I didn't want to control it, this time I had no reason.
In one stroke, the test tube next to Kai exploded and its contents spilled over Kai's whole body.
"What is it !?" Kai screamed, all her hair was wet, and her clothes were dirty with a nasty black liquid. I giggled a little and so did Carrie.
"You" she pointed at me. "You did it, you'll pay for it," she said aloud. She hurried out of the classroom, two of her friends came to help her quickly, and then they disappeared from the surroundings.
"You got into trouble with Queen Kai," Carrie told me, a little frightened.
"Yes, I really don't care who has the power, no one will tell me what to do," I said.
"You don't care about the rules?" Carrie guessed.
"Not really," I replied, and so we both left the classroom.
I'm not really as brave as I've shown to this girl, I don't really think she'll go over it in silence, I don't know why I did it, but I was glad I didn't go over what she did in silence.
I used to be in detention once, not because I was disturbed or brash to the teacher.
Well, maybe I was scolding the teachers, but I had a good reason. I sat on one of the wooden chairs in the room and sat beside Carrie.
Her eyes read a book that seemed to contain a thousand pages, I don't laugh. I didn't do anything, I didn't feel like developing a conversation with anyone because I was only new here.
I looked at the window that overlooked the corridor.
It was empty, how surprising.
Mr. Kuzu seemed to fall asleep, for his face lay on his hand and his eyes closed.
I decided to leave the classroom before he woke up, because I really did not have the strength to sit here, they would punish me at the most.
"What are you doing?" Carrie asked me when she noticed I was getting up.
" I'm Going out"
"We are in detention" she said quietly.
"So?" I giggled.
"You really want to get in trouble, I see," she said, giggling.
"If Mr. Kuzu wakes up tell him I'm in the bathroom," I said, and left the room quietly.
As soon as I got out I noticed a figure approaching me. It was Kai, of course it was her, now she would probably turn me over to Mr. Kuzu and I'd get even worse.
"Hey, stop" I heard her yell at me.
"Oh no," I muttered quietly.
I began to walk quickly toward the corridor parallel to this corridor, hoping that I would find a place to hide from.
As I moved toward him I tried to open every door I encountered in order to hide, unfortunately none of them opened.
"All the doors are locked, you have nowhere to run" Kai said.
My gaze wandered to a door right at the end of the corridor, open to my great fortune.
I ran toward her and when I went in I hurried to block her with chairs. That's it, now I'm sure she won't bother me anymore.
I could confront her, but I had one hold on my head. I turned my body toward the classroom, realized I was in a chemistry class.
The many tubes and the periodic table pretty much betrayed that fact. Suddenly I heard an annoying fly buzzing in my ear.
I tried to get rid of him but he just did not stop. I picked up a newspaper and rolled it up, gave it a chance, now it really did. I started moving after him in an attempt to kill him, it didn't work.
In the end, he stopped in his place, and instead of the fly, i saw Kai.
"Did you really think you'd get out of it so easily?" She grinned.
"I was hoping," I muttered nervously to myself.
"You know I really wanted to give you back what you did to me with the test tube, you ruined my favorite shirt"
"I'm sure you've got another full in the closet," I said, folding my hands together.
"That's not the point, I'm trying to make it clear that you have to pay for it"
"I have no money," I told her, though I knew it was not her intention.
"Then another way," she said.
"What do you mean?" I said.
She didn't answer, instead she pushed me hard to the board.
"Are you crazy?" I got mad and she released me from the board.
"You deserved it," she said, and smiled.
I noticed she was approaching one of the tubes that was filled with a nasty black liquid.
Because of the murderous look in her eyes I understood what she was going to do. I bent down quickly before the test tube shattered where my head had been a moment ago.
"What are you doing?" I got mad and my heart beat quickly because of the anger in my body.
She didn't exactly answer, but just threw me another test tube that was filled with green liquid this time.
The test tube shattered a few meters from my shoulder. She kept throwing and I kept on dodging.
Oh, she's crazy. My heart pounded hard and I felt the same feeling that had already become part of me.
I didn't stop her, I let her take over. Inside the test tube where the liquid began to bubble, when he began to form outside the test tube, Kai left her in disgust.
"Ugh," she said, and went to the next test tube, which I had already filled with bubbles as well.
Soon all the tubes in the room filled with bubbles and the amount of liquid in them just grew, as if they were a bubbling volcano.
"You won't dare," she hissed.
"Yes, I did," I said, and suddenly there was a loud explosion.
Kai fell backward as the floor was filled with different liquids mixed together, and the smell was terrible. I hurried out of the room, away from Kai.
Unfortunately, Mr. Kuzu and Carrie came. He was angry and his eyes surveyed me suspiciously.
"I remind you, Miss Mars, that you're in a coma," he said, and his voice was loud.
"Yes ... I-" I began to say, but then Kai left the classroom.
Her clothes and hair were filled with a disgusting, disgusting liquid that smelled awful.
"You'd better get away from me." Now she was shouting.
"Kai, what happened to you?" Mr. Cozzo asked, trying not to smell the stinking liquid.
Carrie and I kept ourselves from laughing out loud.
"It's Viola, punish her," she said, looking at me with a nervous, angry look.
"Hey, you started" I stopped her.
"You smashed test tubes in the whole class and you ruined my clothes, again." Now she was really shouting.
I was really nervous.
"Did you throw test tubes at her?" Carrie asked.
"Well, stop, all of you," declared Mr. Kuzu.
"You two" he pointed at me and Kai.
"The two of you are cleaning up the class you ruined until you're brilliant, am I clear?" He asked aloud.
"Yes" we both said. Athough we wanted to keep fighting.
He looked cautiously at us both and went back to the classroom where he was sitting.
"It's all because of you two" said Kai.
"What?" I asked in surprise. "You threw tubes at me, you know how dangerous it is ?!"
"You smashed them and now I'm all dirty and stinking," she said back.
Carrie looked at the two of us. She looked at me and realized that she thought I was right, but there was no point in quarreling with Kai, it would just be another blank wall to talk to.
"Well, let's clean up and get it over with." I sighed and went into the classroom. With a slight sigh, Kai followed me.
I admit that it was hard to clean up the class, especially because Kai would hardly do anything. She was busy cleaning her clothes.
Carrie had helped me clean up and I was glad that I wouldn't get stuck here alone with Kai.
