Thankfully, Stephen was spared the embarrassment when they came to a huge, flashing, neon sign that read:

WELCOME TO LAS VEGAS!

The light coming off the sign made him silently thank God for the sunglasses. Then he supposed he should actually be thanking the god who actually gave him the sunglasses rather than one that probably didn't exist. His brain worked in a strange way.

"Does anyone else find it strange that there's a sign saying Welcome To Las Vegas facing empty desert?" asked Scott, giving a suspicious frown behind them and at the neon monstrosity. "Especially something so grand?"

"Huh, that is strange," Wanda agreed. "Such a waste of electricity. And bulbs."

"I'll never understand you humans," Loki said, looking up to the sign. "Why do you put giant signs up announcing the names of your states?"

"You don't do that in Asgard?" asked Scott.

"Of course not. It's ridiculous."

"Can we talk about this later?" asked Strange, as they walked under the sign and onto the streets. "We're going to focus on finding Mordo and the time stone, but everyone keep a low profile and don't cause any magical mischief."

"Now, Strange. Why would we do a thing like that?" Loki joked, putting his hand on his chest like he was offended. "But on a serious note, can we keep to the shade? It's too bloody hot out here."

They stook to the side of the pavement that was overshadowed by the strangely high buildings. It was a little cooler, though not by much, but the symbolism of the shade seemed to help. The few people who walked past didn't pay them any attention whatsoever, so either they usually saw people in strange get-ups, or the sunglasses actually were an effective disguise. Though he doubted it.

Stephen activated his map spell, but a small version, in his hands to see whether they were getting close. Their position was marked out by 4 blue dots, Mordo was still a red one. Instead of showing the globe, it showed them a sort of Sat-Nav view of Vegas, just without the quickest route highlighted out for them.

"What way now then?" asked Scott, checking around them to make sure no one could see Stephen's magic.

"Not sure. Looks like we've got to go..." Strange looked at the angle of where the red dot was. "North west? Does this act as a compass?"

Loki sent a flash of light towards his map, and it spun around rapidly. "Now it does," he explained.

"Thanks. OK then..." They studied it for a minute or so, Stephen every now and again spinning on the spot to figure it out.

"You know, I wish I could do these sort of spells," Wanda mentioned while they were still figuring it out. "It would come in really useful. After all, attacking powers, mind control, telekinesis... it's all good until you get lost or need a drink."

"Well, I can't do any magic," Scott pointed out with a sad smile. He pulled a coin out from behind Wanda's ear. "Well, a bit. You three are really lucky."

Wanda accepted the coin from Scott appreciatively. "At least you'd be able to pay for something at a vending machine with a moment's notice."

"OK, guys, figured it out," Strange announced, facing towards them. "We need to go that way," he decided, pointing at the wall of a building without looking up. Dispelling the map, he began to walk where he'd pointed, stopped, then turned and said to himself, "Maybe go around the building Stephen." To the others, he said, "Come on guys. Let's go steal an Infinity Stone."
