"CONGRATULATIONS, graduates!"

Sabay-sabay namin hinagis ang graduation caps sa ere at nagkoro sa pagbubunyi. Napuno ng palakpakan ang buong lugar habang umuulan ng kumikinang na kulay ginto na mga confetti. Bawat confetti ay nagniningning nang tumatama sa ilaw at sinag ng araw.

Kasabay ng malakas na musika, sunod-sunod ang palakpakan at pagsipol ng mga graduate at mga manonood.

Tumalikod na ako upang hanapin ang asawa ko. I saw KD seated by the bleachers earlier. Pero ngayon na nagpuntahan ang mga graduate sa kanilang mga pamilya, unti-unti nang nababakante ang mga upuan sa paligid ko at maraming kumpulan sa iba't ibang bahagi ng hall.

At kahit na maraming tao ngayon, alam kong nakakalat ang mga tauhan ni KD at binabantayan kami.

"Congrats, Alexa!" I heard one of my batchmates called out. She was with her family and I could see how happy they were.

That made me think about my family. Proud kaya si Kuya Ales sa 'kin na nakapagtapos ako kahit na naging matagal, kasal pa rin ako kay KD, at ako na ang namamahala sa kompanya? I felt like he would be.

Pinagmasdan ko ang buong kapaligiran and just like our wedding day, it was phenomenal. I closed my eyes as I felt the memories seeping through my mind. And unlike my forced memories, this one was just flowing wondrously.

It was a beautiful and wonderful memory. And it saddened me that I forgot about it.

I remembered how sunny it was. And despite our struggles of running and hiding away to be safe, KD still managed to prepare our intimate beach wedding.

I remebered that I wore a lacey white dress that hung to my knees. I had beach curls and a red gumamela tucked in my ear. Hawak ko rin ang bungkos ng mapuputing rosas. At ang confetti at dekorasyon sa paligid at mga pulang paruparo.

KD was also in white. Simple at maaliwalas pero ang guwapo talaga niya.

Hindi ko na maalala kung ano ang pakiramdam na maglakad sa buhanginan nang mga sandaling iyon. Hindi ko na maalala kung gaano kainit noon. Hindi ko na maalala kung ano ang naging takbo ng seremonyas. Basta ang malinaw sa isipan ko ay ang kasiyahan namin ni KD na makita ang isa't isa at maikasal.

"Love, I thank the world for you. It may be against us, but I feel in my heart that we are destined to meet and fall in love . . . unexpectedly. Our love just happened—like magic. Pinunasan niya ang luha na hindi ko na namalayan na tumulo. I held his hand and brushed my thumb against it before I continued, "I love you so much! Mahal kita kasi . . . Mahal kita kung . . . Mahal kita kahit ano'ng mangyari. Masaya ang puso ko kasi sa wakas, nandito ka na. People may throw rocks at things that shine, but they can't take what's ours. I am yours, and forever will be."

I could see the genuine happiness reflecting in his eyes. I could see myself in his orbs.

God, what did I do in this lifetime to deserve this man?

KD cleared his throat for the nth time. Parang binata siya na nahihiya sa kaniyang nililigawan. Ako naman ay nasasabik na marinig ang kaniyang vows.

"Love . . . " I could already see his eyes getting watery. "Love, you always tell me that you're lucky to have me in your life. But it's you who made my darker days bright. With you, at last, I did see the light. Thank you, love, for never giving up on me and for sticking with me through thick and thin. I had you at my worst, but you deserve nothing but the best in this lifetime. And my love, it's time for me to give you my best! I love you so much, Alexandra!"

My heart was so full hearing his sweet and solemn words. Gusto ko na lang umiyak nang umiyak.

"Yes, the world may be against us but I do not mind because being with you is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I would do everything all over again if the end result is me and you! You are my magic! As I always say, 'kahit ano'ng mangyari.' Love, I will always be here to remind you how beautiful you are. And I will never be ashamed to let the world know hoe much I love you!" He smiled suppressing his tears.

"Mahal ba kita? Mahal na mahal kita. I fell in love before I knew what love is. And I thank the stars and signs that led me to you. Love, I promise that things will get better. Thank you for being my number one supporter. Thank you for choosing me. Salamat sa pagmamahal araw-araw. I promise you that I will love you until my last breath in this lifetime and the lifetime that comes after."

Bumalik ako sa katinuan nang may humaplos ng aking pisngi. It was no longer the KD from my memories, but my husband standing in front of me.

"Are you okay, love?" nag-aalalang panimula ni KD.

I smiled at him before nodding. "Yes, love. I'm more than okay."

Niyakap ko siya nang mahigpit at agad niyang sinuklian iyon. Mahigpit din ang yakap niya sa baywang ko. Halos lahat ng mga tao at nagkumpulan sa entablado at sa mga bleachers. Mukhang kami na lang ni KD ang naririto sa gitna ng mga upuan.

"Love . . ." bulong ko.

"Mm?"

"I just recalled our wedding vows," pag-amin ko.

Humiwalay si KD sa aking pagkakayakap pero hindi niya inalis ang kamay sa aking baywang. He had a confused look towards me.

"Are you okay? Sumakit ba ang ulo mo? Do we need to go to the—"

"Kalma, KD!" I laughed. Umiling ako at hindi pinuputol ang titig sa kaniyang mukha. I even used my index finger to trace his face. "No, love. It was pleasant. Parang magic na bumalik sa akin ang araw na 'yon."

"Promise?"

I nodded once again. "Yes, love. I promise. Our vows are so precious!"

"And I would gladly tell you those words over and over again." He tucked some loose hair I had behind my ear. At kahit nakatakong na ako, he remained taller than me.

Napuno ng mga paruparo ang aking sikmura nang bumaba ang mukha niya sa akin. Awtomatiko naman akong napapikit, parang sukat at sigurado sa direksiyon na pupuntahan ng aming mga labi.

Our lips moved in sync as we heard cheers and whistles around. Kung dahil sa amin 'yon ay hindi ko na inisip pa.

That moment was just . . . magical. It was just meant for KD and myself. It was a world that existed and stopped for us.

Nang maghiwalay ang aming labi, sabay kaming nagmulat ng mga mata at nakatitig sa isa't isa.

The past year had been a roller coaster and I was certain the future held more unexpected things for us. But together, I was sure that we'll go through it.

"Love, may dumating ka raw na parcel sa office." biglang usal ni KD. "Don't worry, we've checked it and they're just a bunch of papers."

"And? We don't open strange parcels naman, a?" I retorted.

"I have a reason to believe that it's from your parents," aniya.

Nangunot ang noo ko. "Mula kay mom at dad?" Tumango siya at nakaramdam ako ng kasabikan. "Well, we need to go home na!"

"We will, love. But let's take it slow. We have the whole day to celebrate your graduation, right?"

That made me stand still. Masiyado akong nasasabik kapag naririnig ko sina mom at dad . . . kahit na wala akong balita sa kanila.

Lumapit ako sa asawa ko at nilingkis ang aking mga braso sa kaniyang leeg. "Of course, love. Basta kasama kita."

"I love you," malambing niyang bulong at ginawaran ng halik ang noo ko. Walang talaga kaming pakialam sa ingay ng paligid.

Sa higit pitong bilyon na tao sa mundo, nagtagpo ang landas namin ni KD. At alam kong kahit ano'ng mangyari, hindi siya mawawala sa piling ko. KD would always be there for me.

Sa higit pitong bilyon na tao sa mundo, kahit ano'ng mangyari, mamahalin ko si KD nang buong-buo. At kung bibigyan ako ng pagkakataon na ulitin ang lahat basta kami pa rin sa dulo, uulitin ko. Ito ang magic ng aming pagmamahalan na walang katumbas sa mundo.
