four days until soulmate assignment.

I sighed as we reappeared a few blocks away from the sushi restaurant, and I nearly fell face first onto the sidewalk as I stumbled, but Five grabbed me by the waist and managed to grab me before I slammed into the ground.
I stared up at Five, his long dark brown hair falling into his eyes as he gazed into my e/c eyes, his dark irises captivating me. I wrapped my arms around Five's neck as I stared at his softened eyes and sharp cheekbones, and Five gently propped me up, his hair still in his eyes.
I reached my hand out, and with a feather-light touch, I brushed his soft hair back, letting my hand linger on his soft bangs and moved my hand down, resting it on his cheekbone.
Five reached for my hand, and I caught it, pressing it against my cheek. I closed my eyes, savoring the warmth spreading through me. Five laid his hand out on my cheek, gazing at me for a while before he broke his gaze away, instead taking my arm and leading me to the Sushi Bar, opening the door for me.
I walked inside the place, Five immediately taking my hand once he followed me inside. My face turned red as the hostess took us to a table, Five's index finger drawing circles on my knuckle. She carefully led us to the booth areas and put us into an isolated booth, placing two menus on the table in front of us as she waited for our order.
We looked at each other, and we ordered the same exact thing, leaving us in peace for at least another fifteen minutes. "So...Five." Five looked at me, smiling. "Are you excited for our soulmate assignments in four days?" He looked at me, his signature smirk coming back to his features.
"Of course. But we need to have a deal, okay?" I nodded, already knowing what was going to happen. "If we get different soul mates...no hard feelings, and we'll still be friends. Deal?" I nodded before reaching over the table with my pinky out.
"Pinkie promise me, Five." Five didn't hesitate before locking his finger with mine, looking into my eyes.
"Deal."
I exhaled as we pulled back, and we talked about basically anything for the next ten minutes, connecting over our love of coffee, books, and sarcastic comments about basically anything. I felt the bond between us strengthen, and I smiled, thinking I was able to ask about soulmate tattoos at this point.
The wait wasn't long however, and the waitress quickly returned with our drinks and sushi, setting them down on the table. After a peaceful silence, I looked up quickly, swallowing a bite of shrimp tempura sushi and setting my chopsticks down.
Five noticed my silence and looked up, swallowing his California roll and setting his own chopsticks down and looking into my eyes as I carefully held his hand on the table. "Five...can you tell me about your siblings' markings now?" Five sighed and held my hand with both of his, exhaling heavily.
"Alright, y/n. Just don't tell...y'know, the rest of my siblings that I told you, okay?" I nodded, smiling softly at Five. He took a quick sip of water, and then groaned. "Okay, so...um, let's start with Allison. She got the symbols C.E., and we don't know exactly who they are, but we do know that it's an actor, since this guy named Chris Evans got the intials A.H on his wrist. He seems cool."
I snorted, knowing that Chris Evans was an amazing actor. She would so love him. Five continued talking, seeing the smirk on my face and laughing.
"I'm guessing you know who he is. And well, Diego got (let's please pretend that Patch didn't die. please.) E.P, which we all knew stood for Patch. They're both really happy, so that's good. Luther...Luther hasn't shown us his symbols yet. Makes sense, he never tells us anything or does anything to reveal anything about himself. "
" Klaus...Klaus's symbol....it's..." Five sighed. "Poor Klaus...he..." I realized what had happened. "Didn't...didn't Klaus fall in love with someone when he went back in time?..." Five's voice broke as he spoke. "He...Klaus got nothing but...a..." Five let out a pained sob.
I placed a hand on top of Five's, carefully entwining my fingers with his. "I-It's okay, Five. Just...tell me...it'll be fine." Five cleared his throat, taking a sip of water and wiping at his eyes. "Klaus...Klaus got a gray D. That's it. It doesn't change in temperature, it's just a bland gray...Klaus has been trying to get sober to talk to Dave for the past two days."
I coughed down a strangled sob, and wiped at my eyes with my free hand. Holy shit...I didn't realize that he had never gotten a soulmate, technically. I managed to distract him with another question. "What about Vanya, Five?"
He looked up, his eyes sparkling with unseen tears. "Vanya got the symbols M.(your last initial), and we still don't know what they stand for." I gasped, and picked up my phone. "I might know what those letters stand for, Five. Did I ever tell you about my sister, Meg?" Five's eyes widened a bit.
"What's your last name, y/n?" I quickly responded while typing out a message to my sister. "(l/n.) Five laughed. "So...your sister is Vanya's soulmate?" I nodded. "Hopefully." Five wedged himself next to me in the booth, and I could feel his breath on my neck, as we were both shoulder to shoulder. I let out a shuddering breath, and texted Meg.
super sis

meg

super sis

meg

super sis

meg

I looked up as Five gasped loudly, his mouth hanging open. I laughed in shock. "Vanya...Vanya is probably Meg's soulmate..." Five grabbed my phone, texting Meg back as I gasped in betrayal and tried to snatch my phone back.
super sis
you should come to the umbrella academy tomorrow
meg
um, okay! do you think you know who my soulmate is?
super sis
yes.
meg
i'll be there in two minutes. i'm taking your motorbike btw
super sis
okay
I managed to snatch my phone back but tumbled over Five in the booth, leaving me wedged between Five and the table, and basically sitting on his lap. My face turned a fiery red, and I tried to move, but Five placed his hands on my face and pulled me closer to him, and he paused right as our lips were inches apart.
I could hear the sound of the waitress's heels coming closer, so I quickly scrambled off of Five's lap and sat down next to him, pulling Five's sushi closer to him as we both shoveled down the last pieces of our food.
Five quickly left some money on the booth table, and he grabbed my hand, leaving us both vanishing into a burst of blue light before the waitress's eyes.
We reappeared at the Academy, and i heard the sound of my motorbike outside as I rushed outside. My sister was getting off of it, and she took her helmet off she winced, running her hand over her wrist. "It really hurts...but that has to mean...my soulmate is Vanya?" Meg mumbled under her breath, racing inside before I could talk to her.
I grabbed Five's wrist and raced inside, feeling his fingers wrap around my wrist as well. I got inside just as Vanya raced down the stairs, her hand clamped tightly around her wrist. She spotted Meg and froze, the two of them gazing at each other as golden sparks shot out of their tattoos and entwined together, bursting out and turning their tattoos pure gold.
My mouth dropped open as they ran towards each other, embracing each other. Five and I turned away, and we headed towards Five's room to give them some private time together.
honestly, for these, I don't think I'm actually going to write out what happens every single hour of every day.
just know that by the time they get the soulmate tattoos, these two are best friends, so also have some romantic feelings for each other.
