Buddy Saves Christmas - @ChardonaeManuel

It all started with an ordinary day in New York City, but normal bustling busyness of the streets were enhanced today. For it was December first! For all those Christmas lovers around the world today was the day that was their time to start shining for twenty-five days straight. All year people wait for the days when they can start spreading Christmas cheer and counting down the days for Santa to come and bring them gifts!

There are a lot of Christmas lovers out there but one particular New Yorker was extra excited, his name was Buddy! He is an elf. As in he builds all the little toys for the children and helps Santa prepare for Christmas. Now just to clarify, Buddy isn't actually an elf but was raised by one as if he was one.

Now a couple years ago he found out/realized that he was not an elf, but actually a human. Long story short he set out to find his father. He finds him and some things happen that involved prison, a DNA test, snowball fights, mail rooms, and falling in love but we won't go into detail about those things. For that was only the first part of Buddy's tale.

So now let us get into today's story.

It started when Buddy was collecting the mail in his apartment on December first while coming home from his job at Gimbel's. As he shuffled through the mail he came across an envelope addressed to Buddy from Papa elf. Buddy jumped for joy as the letter must have been the annual Christmas card from all the elves in Santa's workshop.

Buddy waited till after a nice family dinner, which consisted of spaghetti with marshmallows and syrup, to read the card.

Dear Buddy,

It's me, Papa elf. I send you this letter with a heavy heart as it is with bad news. The South Pole penguins and elves have come and forced us North Pole elves out of the workshop. South Pole elves have no clue how to make toys quickly and Santa has tried and there is nothing he can do with the penguin's strength and numbers, they also have threatened to imprison all of us if Santa tries anything to get rid of the South Pole elves...

Everyone is safe just sad.

Merry Christmas,

Love papa elf

Xoxo

Buddy couldn't believe it, the elves had been kicked out? South Pole elves have taken over alongside the penguins? No... No more Christmas? Buddy refused to sit back and do nothing. So it was settled, Buddy was going back to the North Pole!

Buddy called to Jovie from the living room "Fetch me my suit!" He said in a serious tone as Jovie came out holding his green cotton elf suit. Buddy changed and filled Jovie in on where he was going and why as she understood and begged him to be safe.

Soon enough Buddy stepped out into the streets of New York in his suit and headed to the North Pole. He first went through the Lincoln tunnel, then crossed the sea of swirly twirly gumdrops and finally passed through the seven levels of the candy cane forest to get back home to the North Pole just the sun had hit its peak in the sky.

Once there he snuck into the housing area where all the elves lived as he went straight to his old home where Papa Elf lived. Buddy was nervous and knocked on the door as lightly as possible, hoping that no one but Papa Elf was inside. Soon enough Papa Elf's small head peaked through a crack and gasped when he saw Buddy.

"B-Buddy what are you doing here? You shouldn't be here. J-just come in quickly." Said Papa Elf quickly making sure Buddy entered as quietly and calmly as possible.

Buddy walked inside swiftly yet his big feet clunked around a bit as he ran into and knocked over some things before taking a seat down on the couch. It had been awhile since Buddy had been in something as tiny as an elf home, due to him living in New York City now. If he thought about it he hasn't been back to the North Pole since two Christmases ago.

Buddy sat patiently as Papa Elf went and closed all his curtains to make sure no one was to come and see Buddy. Once he did his checks to be sure they were alone he sat down in his chair and looked at Buddy softly.

"Why are you here Buddy?" Papa Elf said with a very confused expression upon the elderly elf's face.

Buddy smiled with those bedazzled eyes he had yet then he recalled that why he was here was not on pleasure, "Oh Papa Elf, you sent me that letter? I thought you would expect me?" Buddy said furrowing his big and bushy eyebrows.

Papa Elf gulped and placed his hand on his forehead rubbing it with an upset look upon his face.

"It must have been Santa, he had suggested I send a letter to inform you about our predicament with hopes you'd come and help us take back over the workshop... I told him no, that I didn't want to involve you in this as you have your life and own problems... I guess he sent the letter after all." Papa Elf sighed once finished explaining, it was then a knock was coming from the door again and Papa Elf tensed his old body before standing up "Quick hide buddy." He whispered panicking with fear it was one of the penguins coming because they needed Papa Elf to try and teach the South Pole elves to repair the sleigh which he has been reluctant to teach them up to this point.

Buddy quickly arose to his feet but he definitely had a few clunks and stumbles which caused some noise for sure but after a moment of being unsure as of where to hide he just locked himself in the bathroom.

Once Buddy was hiding Papa Elf peaked outside his front door cautiously with a standard and monotone face. He quickly realized that it was not one of the penguins of South Pole elves but Santa at his door.

Papa Elf shuffled aside and invited him in and as soon as he closed the door Santa knelled down and glanced around "Where's Buddy? Leon informed me that he thought he saw him heading towards the elves homes and I assumed his first stop would be here." Said Santa in a hushed voice that no matter what volume it was he would come across as worried.

Papa Elf had a light scowl but only people who knew him would know he's scowling.

"One moment..." He said calmly and walked over to the bathroom and opened the door to find Buddy sitting on the ground, all squished and compacted by the tight space. Buddy smiled yet it was a little and sheepish smile.

"Hi Santa!" Buddy spoke grinning like an innocent chilled as he crawled out uncomfortably.

Papa Elf looked to Santa "Why did you send Buddy the letter anyways?" He said calmly yet still upset at the fact Buddy was here.

Santa sighed embarrassed "Please forgive me but I had to say it was from you-" He then paused referring to Papa Elf.

"I can't get the South Pole elves to call off the penguins or surrender and leave us be on my own. We need Buddy, he is big and can act tough!" Santa continued getting in a less ashamed mood as he spoke on.

"While do you at least have a plan?" Asked Papa Elf concerned.

Santa nodded with an almost grin but more of a modest and pleased smile "I'm glad you asked, since I do have a plan." That's when Santa began to tell the two elves dressed in green his master plan on how to get the workshop back for the North Pole elves.

Once all of them had discussed the plan and exact logistics of it Santa left to go to the workshop for he was the only one from the North allowed to enter.

Soon Buddy and Papa Elf snuck around to the back of the workshop and went in through a secret way that the penguins and South Pole elves were unaware of. Buddy had some trouble getting through but eventually they came into the empty toy testing department.

Papa Elf patted Buddy's arm "Were all counting on you Buddy." He added in hugging Buddy.

Buddy nodded and took a deep breath before stepping out towards where all the South Pole elves were making toys, not very well though.

Buddy then cleared his throat "All elves from the South Pole please let the North Pole elves do their jobs." Buddy said trying to sound big and strong but the words came out at best awkwardly.

All of the South Pole elves scoffed and proceeded to giggle hysterically as this man in tights didn't make them feel any need whatsoever to let the North Pole elves take things back over.

One of them was about to call the penguins in but then Santa blocked the door and locked it shut. He looked mad and very upset then his voice boomed with rage "Now you listen here South Pole buggers! My elves have been taking care of all the toys for Christmas for centuries and they don't deserve to be treated like this. You can go back to where you came from and let my elves take over now and see if Christmas won't be ruined because you all decided to kick them out!!" Santa spoke with a loud voice.

As he did so it's like the South Pole elves snapped and realized they were being awful, all of a sudden like little children many of them began to cry.

"We're so sorry Santa, we just get so lonely in the South Pole on our own with nothing to do..." Cried one.

"Please don't send us back there! We loved making the toys." Another one then whimpered.

"We are so sorry for forcing the North Pole elves out of your workshop. It'll never ever happen again!!" A third one said with tears.

Santa looked puzzled and that is when Buddy got an idea. He quickly trudged over to Santa and began whispering in his ear about the big idea he had. Santa was nodding and smiling by the end of the explanation and then turned to the group of crying elves who were now somewhat paying attention.

"Thanks to my dear friend Buddy he has an idea that will work for you to stay..." Santa began as they all got huge smiles on their faces.

"You'll need to let the North Pole elves pick up the slack for now but then as soon as this Christmas is over we'll have you enter a special toy making course so you can all learn to make toys for next year, how does that sound??" Buddy told them as Santa gestured for him to continue on.

Then another thing popped into his mind as he saw Papa Elf on the other side of the room "You all will need to apologize to the North Pole elves for what you have done if you wish to stay and work alongside them." Buddy added in with a stern look.

The giddy elves nodded in agreement to the terms and quickly started dancing with happiness and Papa Elf calmly stood in the background nodding at Buddy as he had done a good job.

Soon enough Buddy went home and told his human family including Walter, Emily, Michael, Jovie and Susie of how he helped save Christmas and that everything will be fine. +

All was right in the world and Christmas was like any other year, as it should be.
